I'm about go nuts here, I think I've tried everything.

My daughter and I have a switch each and we just updated to the bedrock edition.

Yesterday I created a new world that we played in for about two hours and besides bugs with disappearing mobs/avatars and some other oddities like poor fps/lag it did work over 2-3 sessions, that is we closed down the game and were able to play again later.

Today I just can't connect to that world at all in multiplayer. No matter what I do, using local or online network, I just don't get any entries under "Friends that are playing Minecraft" when my daughter starts the world. I've checked but there seems to be no difference from yesterday in the settings. It's set to "Multiplayer on" and "Friends can join". We even did a hard reboot of the switches, wireless AP, router and modem.

The strange part is that if she creates a new world I can join no problem with both local and online network so it's clearly not a hardware/network problem.

Anyone else have this bug and know how to fix it?

I could use the old version, Minecraft Switch Edition, but the problem with that is that I hadn't purchased it on my wifes switch and it's now delisted in the shop and she wants to join too...

What I am going to try now though is to make a new world and see if I can connect to it again tomorrow but we had a nice house and field of wheat/carrots, horses and other things that my daughter got attached to :p

Sounds like a NAT issue maybe? I don't know if Switch online has problems with that, but if you are going through an AP, router, and modem, you could be getting a double NAT that is causing matchmaking problems.

It works fine if I create a new world though.
Like her new world pops up instantly in the interface if I make a new one in both "local" and "online" mode.

But when I load the old one nothing happens.

Edit: also, my network is set up like this:
Fiber modem (in bridge mode) -> openbsd pc/router with a reachable public ip -> local network.
So there is no double NAT here.
