If you need convincing, probably not. But if you have the money and think it might help you enjoy gaming again more, then why not?

Kind of in a similar boat here. I loved Forza 4 on the 360, hands down my favourite racer - well surpassing the GT series. Contemplating picking up a XB1S to get in on FH - but it might be kinda dumb to buy a console for one solitary series.

Edit: I suppose I also want to play Cuphead.

Already have a PS4 Pro and haven't bought anything worthwhile in a long time. The issue isn't money, I have plenty of cash to spend. The games I have already and that I generally enjoy are:

BB
DS3
DSR
UC4
P5
D1 and D2
TF2
KZSF

Plus a few other random stuff that I probably uninstalled or got for free with Plus. Was close to pulling the trigger on Horizon and GoW but ultimately they just seem kind of boring to me. Browsed through some of the indies but they all seem to be really shallow and rely on cutesy art.

Considered the Switch, but realized the games are only fun if played locally with a group. Otherwise I would get bored of Mario Kart or Tennis by myself or online.

Is there anything hidden I'm missing on the XBO? I never tried the Halo series but not sure if H5 is worth getting into at this point. Never cared for Gears or Forza.

Or maybe I'm just not that into games anymore? As it is now, the only games even on my radar are KH3 and DQXI
no is not worth much less for you that look like you are beginning to care less about gaming considering most of the best games are boring for you. The only think I can recommend is considering another hobby looks like gaming is not now for you. Maybe fishing

Get an S or a pre-owned XBO original and buy these games:

Re-Core
Quantum Break
Red Dead 1 BC
Halo MCC
Sunset Overdrive
Super Lucky's Tale
Rare Replay

No point in getting the X unless you're planning to play multi-plats on it.

Play Ori and Cuphead elsewhere (PC) and profit.

Two best games on the system that I really enjoyed!

The BC is great, but otherwise Xbox One hasn't done a lot to turn me away from my PS4.

Still to this day the only exclusive I own is Rare Replay.

The X is worth it for sure. If you're leaning towards the S then save your money for the next XBOX. The X makes the entire ecosystem better.

OP - I think your problem is that you are tiring of games in general. You threw shade at such a wide swath of games that I don't think buying an X1X will fix your problem.

I bought an X after having a Pro for a year.

The X is a nice machine, is very sleek and quiet, but I wouldn't say it's a massive upgrade over the Pro to be honest. BC is only decent if it's been enhanced.

Forza Horizon 3 is a great game, and I'm still awaiting the 4K patch for the Master Chief Collection but I wouldn't say the X is an essential purchase.

I'll keep mine and trade it in towards a next gen machine in a few years.

OP, you sound like me.

Going by how I feel, I don't think so. BC might be reason. State of Decay is underrated. Fun game. I'm thinking about getting 2.

I also rarely played Halo, never played Gears or Forza. Love Crackdown. So there's that.

I'm in the middle of playing Quantum Break and yeah....the game is not pulling me in. I had more fun with State of Decay.

It's impossible to tell you whats worth it to you. I have a Pro and it was worth it to me because I play a lot of third party games and the X has the superior versions of those. I'm also not as adverse to the first party line-up as most people, and while it doesn't stack up to Sony I've had quite a lot of fun with some of them.

After buying it things like Gamepass, BC, EA Access and the 4k facelifts of older titles became bonuses that that also made it worth it.

Someone else will tell you there is nothing of value or interesting on Xbone, you have to decide for yourself.

I feel like Xbox one won't help you out that much if you're looking for exclusives. Honestly a Switch might be a better choice

Singleplayer exclusives include
Zelda
Mario
Bayonetta 1 and 2
Mario + Rabbids
Hollow Knight (also on PC though)
DKTF
Octopath Traveler
Xenoblade

2 of those games were among the best games last year

And some more depending on your taste.
On top of that it offers you portability which neither the PS4 or Xbox offers so you can play AAA games travelling.

Just get the one x and then you get the Forza but also the multi plat games. If you hurting for money is the only reason to get anything Xbox related besides from Xbox one X. All multi plats: best graphics best framerate, and then when you get into the whole BC content it will play best on Xbox one X, versus the older consoles. But you do you man, that's my opinion until next gen arrives...

If you have the gamer's itch and can afford it; then I'd say get it along with game pass and have fun. I own both systems and use the xbox more than the PS4; but I am in the minority here. Most of my friends are on XBL.

You're not into Forza or Gears and you're not sure about Halo...

Why are you even asking this question?

Save your money, buy a Porsche.

This. There are very few reasons to go from PS4 to Xbox One. The X is a better console, and some things are cool like BC and Gamepass, but for new 8th Gen experiences you can't get elsewhere, ehhh, it's pretty thin.

If you missed a lot of OG and 360 games, picking up a cheap S might be a decent idea. Otherwise, especially if you don't care about HaloGears, it's a waste of money.

Yeah, fair enough. I already have a PS4 Pro for my 4k needs. I mean, I could get an X - but it seems like kind of a waste for me at this point with a new gen just around the corner. Also, I have a shit ton of multiplats pre-ordered with the e3 discount for the PS4.

If you're not interested in Forza/Gears/Halo, don't have a gaming PC, don't care about having the best looking 3rd party games and/or want OG Xbox/Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, then you shouldn't get the system.

That being said, I have a PS4 Pro and am building a PC in a few months yet I still picked up an Xbone X a few days ago ($375 - thank you eBay) because I really wanted to play Halo MCC/5 again.

It's a hard no.

I got sucked into the hype when the X released. Big mistake. Traded it in within three weeks.

The exclusive library is very poor and I saw no graphical difference in the multiplats. As for BC, I have no reason to play games I couldn't be bothered to buy 10years ago!

I have a Switch now as a secondary system and I recommend that route. Esp if you never had a WiiU.

I think that if it's feasible for a person financially that it is worth owning each console. If you have a 4k tv or intend on buying one in the near future then it is a great purchase. It's the best way to play multi platform titles, there are some nice improvements to some older Xbox/360 games and you can watch 4k blurays with it.

Do you have a gaming PC, OP? If you do, an X would not be a great choice, as you can get almost everything on the X there instead, be it exclusives or BC stuff. However... If, like me, you don't have a gaming PC or just prefer Console, the X is a fantastic purchase overall. You get the absolute best versions of multiplatform titles until the end of this gen (like, 2+ years), you also get the best versions of games from the prior two gens as well thanks to MS's fantastic implementation of BC (which is the best the Console space has ever seen), and those games are free of you owned them on a prior Xbox system, too. You also have EA Access and Gamepass, which I feel offer the best value in gaming, full stop.

You also get X1's exclusives, but you said yourself that your really not into them, and seem to prefer single-player content (Gears and Halo do still have great solo campaigns, Imo, and there's a TON of great SP games you can play through BC, like Ninja Gaiden, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Fable, etc.), so maybe they won't be a great selling point for you. I think it's pretty widely agreed upon that X1 has the weakest exclusive line-up of the three systems, and if you don't even care for those few it has, perhaps an X isn't the best choice. In that case, you'd have to access yourself if the other features it has (BC, Gamepass, great hardware, etc.) are worthwhile to you.so

Bottom line, I would recommend the system, and do think it's worth owning an X1 (and especially X), as it now has enough exclusive content and features to set itself apart from PS4 and Switch. However, if you aren't into the exclusives, you'll have to decide for yourself if the rest of the benefits it can provide you are worth it. It's also probably a hard pass if you have a good PC, and prefer that.

Yeah I agree on the Switch. I dont have one and after going back n forth between getting it or the X I decided the cheaper Switch with its exclusives was more enticing. Now its between the Switch and PSVR, lol. I did have a Wii U but didnt get any games for it. Now that there is a more appealing console, the Switch is not to be slept on....

Definitely reconsider on Forza Horizon. That's one of those games that might not click until you actually play it.

Also, if you're going to get Halo, the upcoming update for The Master Chief Collection looks to be curing most of what ailed that release.... then you can play Halo 5 for the MP if you want (single player campaign is a slog).

Well, I've been a PS4 owner since launch (Pro since about this time last year) and just bought a One X in May. I find I care about it much less than I thought I would. I guess it's good to have access to a lot of my 360 games, and many of those look a lot better than before, but I'm honestly considering just selling the thing. I'd probably feel differently if I didn't have a semi-decent PC for gaming, though.

I know you say you're not into Forza Motorsport, but have you tried Forza Horizon? It's a completely different beast. I'm not really into racing games and I LOVE Horizon. Heck I literally was talking to a friend last night who is on PlayStation usually and doesn't like racing games, but he was telling me how awesome he thought FH3 was after playing it on his brother's Xbox.

OP, if you enjoy first person shooters. I would definitely recommend playing the Halo series since you never got to try it out. Pretty soon the Halo Master Chief Collection will be receiving a 4k patch (currently out to insiders) and honestly its one of the best FPS franchises out there (in my opinion, I absolutely love that universe). Halo 5's story was weak, but the other ones are pretty good. Good time to jump in.

I feel like Xbox one won't help you out that much if you're looking for exclusives. Honestly a Switch might be a better choice

Bayonetta 1 and 2

Not sure if you were referring to Bayo 2 and 3, but Bayonetta 1 is on Xbox One.

Nah....it's not the best is it.

He may been referring to hardware, in which case he isn't wrong and he may prefer to play Xbox exclusives or what the console offers over what Sony and Nintendo offers?

Of course not, don't fall for the BC lie, it's not worth it.

If you do have a particular love for those 50-69 metacritic games and money is comes easy, well..MS has a Monopoly on those, so then it is a good idea.

Or.. Do you have a gaming PC? Now that's a different story.

He doesn't need a source. It's July 2018 and no chance in hell is the rumored Fable game, Ninja Theory's next game, Compulsion's next game after We Happy Few or Undead Labs next game this generation. And if they are/were, I sure as hell wouldn't expect much. Those studios are for the future. E3 2020 to reveal what they've been working on for the last two years with 2020-2022 for them to be released.

yes, he ( and you ) need an source, those projects can be cross gen... its simple wrong speak that like an fact.

Sure thing. I picked up an X about two or three months ago and since I never owned a 360, I have a huge catalog of old classics to check out. I can sub to Gamepass for a month or two and gain access to a ton of games I'd been meaning to check out. And it's the platform with the best looking / performing version of most games.

At this point, my PS4 and Switch are exclusives-only boxes.

Unless you really wanna play Forza Horizon 4, I'd hold off for next-gen. Like, I love Halo - favourite shooter series, by a mile - but if you've waited this long to get into it, you can wait a bit longer. (Plus, the Xbox One exclusive Halos are... Well, 4's alright at best - the campaign's below-average, the multiplayer sucks - and 5 is the only Halo game I actively dislike.

Save the money, put it towards an Xbox Two or whatever.

yes, he ( and you ) need an source, those projects can be cross gen... its simple wrong speak that like an fact.

Right, but even if they are crossgen, OP would still be better off getting a next gen Xbox to play them on, instead of any of the current models. I mean, it doesn't sound like they're in a hurry or anything, so waiting until they can buy a console that isn't gonna be outdated within two years would be the smart move.

I'm playing games i never got a chance to play before and its the absolutely best version. It will make you pissed off that PS now even exist. I think this will keep me from buying the next xbox around launch and can this will hold me over. My xbox backlog is 60 games deep.

I got one as a gift and I'd say State of Decay 2 has been the best game I've tried on it. Compelling and fun, if a nagging. That said I can't recommend it are full price with how rough it is. Halo 5 seems to have a really split opinion so maybe try it at a friend's house. Gears 4 is boring and Forza has a numb feeling to it so yeah I wouldn't recommend either if you had cared about those in the first place.

So coin toss on Halo 5 and a positive on SoD2 . IMO, If you can think of 3 solid games you'd want to try then a console is worth a buy. Otherwise hold off.

I got an Xbox One S last September for a ridiculously good price. They're so cheap, I can highly recommend getting one. Biggest thing for me is now being able to play with friends who I have not played games with in years that I used to back on Xbox 360.

There's plenty to play on Xbox, not a lot of the exclusives are essential but the backwards compat stuff is great. Can't wait for Forza Horizon 4.

Based on your preferences OP, I'm going to go ahead and say probably not. Especially if you also already own a PS4 Pro and aren't into Gears or Forza. Outside of Gears and Forza titles, there aren't a whole load of quality exclusives on the Xbox One to necessarily justify the cost of the console, especially ones you can't also get on PC that are relatively easy to run (Ori, Cuphead etc).

But if money is no object, and a handful of exclusives are enough to justify one, go for it. If you've never tried Halo, bare in mind that all of them are available on the Xbox One, so you could essentially play the entire franchise if you wanted to get in to it.

Get yourself a Xbox One X my guy, best console out there right now fam

Get the One X for Red Dead and every third party game coming out. No friends no problemm, LFG built into the console.

But seriously, backwards compatible, controller that is heaven in the hands, constant hardware support. Running on a full steam of positivity.

I would give Forza horizon 3 a shot. I know you say not interested, but coming from a guy who hates racing games, I love it. Bpretty sure it's on gamepass. State of Decwy 2 is a fun one to play at the moment.

But basically....Sinset Overdrive is the first game you should play (also on gamepass)
