Sorry for the shitty title, if someone can correct with "release window" :(

Founded on Kickstarter in 2013, the metroidvania Chasm is finally back with a release window, and it's coming to PS4/PS Vita with good old cross-buy on top of PC. The game have been in dev for nearly six years by five people.

While it was already planned on PS4, Chasm was not mentioned on PS Vita before. Here is what the founder James Petruzzi have to say about this on thePlayStation Blog:

Back when Axiom Verge launched on PS Vita, lots of people asked Dan Adelman (who handles the business side of both games) if Chasm would launch there too. Dan replied that it would depend on how Axiom Verge did. Well, I'm excited to confirm that Axiom Verge did well enough on PS Vita that we decided to make Chasm cross-buy. And best of all, this added no time to our schedule, since the guy who did the Axiom Verge port was able to get Chasm's code base up and running while we were still working on the game.

Oh hey, awesome. I kickstarted this game forever and a half ago. Looking forward to getting my copy, and I hope it turned out well.

I have been waiting on this since when I first played a demo of this in Best Buy, originally I though it got cancelled.

Production is finished!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/discordgames/chasm/posts/2218048

I can't tell you how excited I am to let you know that we've achieved a major milestone - PRODUCTION IS FINISHED! Here's what still has to happen between now and launch. First, we've already submitted the game for certification on PlayStation 4 and Vita. While that's in process, we are taking care of pre-launch tasks like prepping all of the text for localization (which might be released as a post-launch update), getting our public bug reporting system back up and running, catching up on paperwork (and a million other small tasks) we've put off for the last few months while we crunched, and, most importantly, coordinating with Sony and Valve to pick the ideal launch date so that we'll be able to give Chasm the exposure it deserves. The primary factors that we'll be looking at are dates that are relatively not too crowded and making sure we give ourselves time to reach out to press so they can write up reviews in time for launch. We'll make a follow up announcement once we lock the final date down.

A lot of you have also asked about PlayStation 4/Vita codes instead of Steam codes. When we did the Kickstarter, we didn't realize that we'd be hitting consoles as well, so we're retroactively coming up with a solution for that. Right now what we're thinking is that we will set up a system whereby backers will be able to order a PS4/Vita code at cost, which will be around $6. You will still get a Steam code, so the PS4 code would be an additional copy of the game.

oh man I've been trying to remember the name of this game for like a year. Looks so dope, can't wait to get my hands on it.

I can only use the itsbeen84years.gif like three times a day and I feel like I'm at my limit already

But really, I'm super excited about this. Even this base demo years ago was great, can't wait to see how it's all turned out. I'm tempted to hold off during the Steam sale so that I'll have guilt-free time for this at launch.

I'm going to echo others in here and say that I've been waiting on the game for a while after playing the demo on at a GameStop kiosk and really enjoying it. I checked in with it periodically regarding a release date but never found anything concrete, so I'm relieved and happy to learn that the game will be releasing this summer. I'll be there day 1!

Remember losing my nerve backing it. Will definitely check this out on Steam (and did Sony help with getting it on PS4/Vita or no?)

EDIT: Though I may consider PS4 instead if Vita works great. But I'm largely done with fighting to get stuff on the handheld.

I remember being excited about this game and playing a demo at indiecade in like 2014 or so.

Pretty sure it's had a release window of "6-12 months from now" for literally the entire time. Cool that it's actually coming out though!

I was so excited when I got my backer email earlier. Now I'm really wishing I would have gone for the $50 tier for those extra items and credits shoutout :p

Seriously looking forward to this. Played the first build or two that they pushed out way way back when and skipped anything else to try and keep from getting burned out on it. Really excited to give the full thing a try.

I have to say, you guys are definitely a lot more optimistic than me, I'm sure it will be decent as they've spent so much time perfecting it (I hope) but I've waited for this and when I wait for a game this long I do kind of have expectations vs dev time- which is weird because a game should be good if it's good but, you know, I expect 6 year games to be amazing :P
