And I actually like this face better, although it might be better suited for Rufus so maybe that's why.

That's Squall. Cloud wasn't really emo in-game (movie doesn't exist).
Can't believe I'm finally going to play FFVII. Just hope they don't ruin it for me with combat similar to FFXV, the original was turnbased right?
This. Final Fantasy VII reeks of 90s sensibilities and they're going to have to put in a lot of work to make it feel modern. I wonder if it would have been a better approach to to remaster the original game in the same format, and just continue the story in that universe somehow with another title, thus allowing more creative freedom. This looks off.

Came here to see people complain about a Pre-Alpha looking asset by saying "it does not look good", was not disappointed.
Remember people, this game is not coming out for another 2years. Main character assets are done and redone multiple times until the end of the project, this is not a final asset hence you should not complain about it.
The fact it's not even a presentation related to the game, by a third party studio, is even more relevant to the "not final".

i think what they're trying to say is it's cloud's model from the game but these pics are from an unrelated UE4 demo

If this was the same model SE showed off earlier in the year in that closed conference or whatever it was, he definitely doesn't look 'younger' or 'softer' as some people suggested he did.
Low res model. Its not the final version, Just look at receding hairline in cloud, If thats the ingame version i shall eat Crow and use that as my avatar for a year

It looks like Cloud is balding and one of his new skills is transforming into a weird plastic doll.
That picture of Cloud's face is from a real-time mocap preview. Those always use low-quality models, simple textures, and ultra-basic lighting. Nothing to worry about.
I am going to look at these pictures and assume this is how everything will look when the game is actually released even at this early stage in starting-all-over-again-development!

I don't like this artstyle at all, looks absolutely bland, generic and boring.
I got really confused for a bit and thought everyone was insane for saying the original model looked better and I thought "How the fuck does the shitty PS1 model look better!?"
