That is out of nowhere.

Is the first one on Switch?
No. But though there is some sort of connection to the first one (see below), as far as I can tell it doesn't really matter

"The award-winning sequel pits a brand-new hero against the series' enigmatic antagonist, the Dealer, as he seeks revenge following his dramatic defeat at the climax of the first game.

The sequel sports a variety of upgrades over the original title, such as an overworld map where each location presents new challenges, new tabletop minigames, companions (including the Dealer himself) with unique side-quests that provide assistance both in battle and perks outside, more robust combat, a deeper story, and an ever-growing supply of new content."

Well shoot. If it runs well and is a good lort I guess this is another one on the pile.

I like the first one, but I got it on Steam via a bundle, but I'd much rather have it portable.

Yes! The first one was soooo good. Been meaning to get this, but idk if I want the Switch or PS4 version. Gonna have to see which one has the better graphics. Doesn't this have coop too?

Etc.

Loved the first one and didn't think the sequel could release on Switch, that's why I had high expectations for Light Fingers.

So next week, wow. The Switch Summer is crazy.

Is it a card game or an action game?
It's a hybrid.

"Collect cards and build a customizable deck of equipment, enemies, encounters, loot, and surprises that will be shuffled in with the Dealer's own challenges. Once combined, cards are laid out into a dungeon floor for players to navigate. Each card presents obstacles to overcome, including action-packed hack-and-slash combat, precarious exploration, high-risk high-reward minigames as well as Dungeons and Dragons-style storytelling and decision making."

It's a great game with card-based events.
RNG exists but you can easily counter them with the right cards in your deck.

There are many challenges/maps, each has its own gimmick. The only bad thing about this game is the repetitive combat.

There is a physical board game Hand Of Fate: Ordeals in the making (https://handoffateordeals.com/) that can have coop, but I don't think the Hand of Fate video games themselves have coop.
Dang, alright. thanks!
Is it a card game or an action game?
both lol. You build your deck based on cards you've won in previous playthroughs, then you challenge the dealer. He makes a playing field out of some of your cards, and then you hop from card to card until you get to the stairs for the next stage. Whenever you land on a card, the dealer will pick it up and read it to you. It can be a scenario like you're at a pub and someone needs to borrow money from you, or you stumble upon an adventurere who requires your help. If you hop on a bad card, you have a chance to choose a good or bad outcome at random.

Frequently you'll land on a card that puts you into a battle situation where it goes 3D and you fight enemies in a battlefield. There are also obstacle course segments. The end of each stage involves a boss fight. Mind you, i'm speaking from my experience with the first game. Idk what they've added for this one.

I haven't played the sequel but I loved the original. Might just play it on the Switch given there isn't much like this on it yet, while the other consoles do have Diablo 3 and such.

Ah ok, so it's not like Hearthstone or Gwent (not a big fan of these types of games) where you actually play cards against someone but basically the "main" game is the action parts and you only collect cards to set up "dungeons". Sounds cool and I'll probably give it a chance. Thanks for the info.

Well I still have high expectations for Light Fingers, this hasn't changed anything, I just hope it isn't suddenly announced for this July as well...

First one ran poorly on PS4, so not hopeful about this port; however, IF it actually runs well on the Switch, then it'll be a must buy. Really need to start saving for a 400GB microSD card...

Was that actual Switch footage? If so,damn that looks good. The first wasn't bad and I've been meaning to check out the second for a while. A guess the Switch is the perfect place to try

There's actually a lot of gameplay for this on youtube but I couldn't find specs when I looked last night, it was mostly just impressions and reviews. Really took me by surprise, it looks like a good enough port though - maybe fuzzy but it looked good.

Is the game any good?

I haven't played the first entry, but recently started on the sequel, and yes, it is very, very good. Great atmosphere, combat is a lot of fun and the Dealer is just a very well put together character, thanks in large parts to the great voice acting. The game feels incredibly polished.

Edit - Playing it on PC by the way.
