Well the GPS on the iPhone X has always been a bit shit, but at least it's finding satellites at all now. Still not accurate as it should be (seems to cap at +-106 feet instead of +-33 feet like my iPad) but I'll take it over no GPS at all

Apple Music FINALLY resumes again... I joked about PTSD... but you have no idea the relief I experienced getting into the car and hearing what I was last listening to, instead of Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough start playing for like the 300th time since the beta dropped.....

Pokemon Go still broken. Starting to wonder if this is an iOS change that won't be able to be fixed until it's released. I had an app like that years ago (iOS 10 beta) where it was broken for the entire beta.. as it needed a change for security, but the change wasn't live in iOS 9.. so I had to wait for the actual release for the dev to release an iOS 10 version of their app. Was frustrating.. but it was on the dev for where they were making a WSS call to..

I hope they add an option to turn off the shitty "swipe up" gesture for the home screen. Having home, app switcher, and dock all using that same gesture is a mess.

The annoying Finder bug where it ignores the setting and opens all folders in new tabs no matter what is fixed. I am so happy.

And I am so glad they decoupled system and system software updates from the App Store. It's so good to finally have a Software Update preference pane again.

In Mojave, is it finally possible to directly drag pictures from the Photos app to other apps (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram)?

so all of my shit is finally right....

the Apple Music stuff is fixed. And honestly, it's now working better than it ever did in 11. In 10 and 11.. I had this minor bug where if I was listening to a song, and answered a phone call on my stereo, when it went back to the audio it would skip to the next song. Now since beta 3 it's resumed the song every time (and completely eliminating the previous massive bug that existed since beta 1... thank god...)

the HomeKit stuff was weeeeeiiirrddd... so my shit has been showing up sporadically (but frequently) as Not Responding. This has become further aggravating because triggers then fail if something is Not Responding the moment the trigger fires. So the worst by far would be using the bathroom in the middle of the night.. trigger would turn on the light at like 10%... it's set to turn the light off after 2 minutes.. except it wouldn't because the bathroom fixture was Not Responding. So then it's unlocking my phone and turning it off (or using Siri which is loud as hell in the middle of the night...)

any who... I got a wild hair up my butt to look at the Hue system to see if there was weirdness with the channel it was on (and had been on for the last two years..). I hit the "new channel" button which runs for like 30 seconds. Switched from channel 11 to channel 20.

two days later and my Hue system is working flawlessly with HomeKit... so there must have been some new RF put up in the vicinity of my house around the time the beta dropped that I just conflated with being a beta issue.

tl;dr beta is back to being awesome for iOS and tvOS. Also they added in the location info for screensavers on ATV Aerials now. :D

Buying a maxed out 13'' Macbook Pro tomorrow as I can't keep waiting for the next refresh - stupid??

Yeah, tbh. Maybe put it on a CC and then use your purchase protection within 90 days?

The specific versions of Coffee Lake that Apple uses for MBP's are finally out, meaning that 13" models are about to go quad core and it's going to be the biggest performance jump since Sandy Bridge with the 15" models in 2010

Oh shit, I was considering going 15" for my next mac, mainly for more cores.

Really looking forward to this uncertainty about what mac I should buy to be over, whether it ends up being an iMac, a 2015 MacBook Pro or a 2018 MacBook Pro. I just want to replace my 2011 with a faster system already.

15" is also supposedly going to 6 core. Which is insane, lol. The new coffee lakes are 4 core and 6 core instead of the previous gens 2 core and 4 core respectively.

Just keep trucking on with that 2011, this fall we will most likely see 2018 laptops with massive performance gains.

In the meantime, you can stick an SSD in your 2011 if you haven't already, remove the optical drive (adds 45 mins of battery life), and max out the RAM to 16GB. Also update to the latest OS.

iMac Pro is pretty nice, though. And Micro Center has them for only 3999 last time I checked....

I put 1tb ssd in there and it is VASTLY better, and it's had 16gb of RAM for years; my main concern is that the fan runs at full blast most of the time so I am thinking of paying a third party AppleCare provider to reapply thermal paste in case that's all dried out and replace the fan with a nice clean one.

But it still can't run some of the more recent music software I want to run, whereas my wife's mid-end 21" iMac shrugs at it, so I think it's really time to upgrade.

I was hoping the recent "ok, we'll cover the keyboard replacements for four years" thing was a hand-tip on new machines coming within weeks. Do you really think it's fall?

If you clean out the fans and reapply thermal paste it will definitely help a lot, in addition to holding up the resale value.

My bet is that it's in Sep-Oct, along with the new low-cost MBA replacement which might just be a refreshed "MacBook". We are also due for new iPads with X-style FaceID and bezels.

Personally I'll be replacing my 2015 13" with whatever base model 13" that's quad core, preferably with small 128GB SSD for 1199-ish....

Screw it I can't wait - i7 16gb 1tb 13 inch pro ordered.

Sold a load of old tech which pretty much covered most of the cost so I'm happy!

Yeah I'm ok with the i7 for what I need and the RAM will hold me over for a good while.

Always something better on the horizon :)

New MacBook Pro's just released, bad timing for the guy who orders above but can always return.

Great timing; well within the return window!

I am going to wait a week to see some benchmarks etc but I may still end up with an iMac because the 32gb/1tb 15" is almost the cost of an on-sale imac pro ($3599 vs $3999)

Can someone with Mojave installed tell me if selfcontrol is working fine on it?

I'm planning to jump in on the Mojave beta, but the period of time selfcontol wasn't working on Yosemite were dark times for me.
