105% on pc, 1% extra compared to where I ended on Switch. Completed the flower quest, which is indeed pretty easy if you use a portal and clear out the path and teleport back. I was surprised pretty much all the enemies stayed dead, even most of the smaller ones.

So once again didn't finish Grimm Troupe and didn't do Trial of the Fool, maybe for another time. Switch version was 50 hours and PC 26, that should do it for now. Can't believe I actually 100%'d this twice in a row, don't do that with games anymore.

Very easy to avoid. You need to purposely get it. You need to:

Get the Kingsoul charm (by finishing the White Palace) and then going to the Abyss and Dream Nailing yourself in the egg-mirror thing.

Wait what? I thought in order to get the other two endings besides the bad one, you just needed to have that item from white palace and fight the end boss. The part in your spoiler looks much different.

I'm trying to get to the remaining 2/3 dreamers and I feel stuck after a couple hours of scouring the map.

Where can I find the double jump or vertical boost I'm assuming I need?

Thanks!

Welp. Weird lady won't give me her blessing. Apparently I need 1 more charm. WTF? Do breakable ones not count (I have 2 of those, 1 unbreakable)? Or do I need the "complete" White Fragment charm?

Do you have the King's Symbol? If so, go to the Abyss in the Basin...
Wow ty! Cannot believe I was here before standing right in front of the thing and was just pressing up didn't realize I need to crack it...

I guess I beat the game. Almost 30 hours, 76% completion.

That ending...

Phenomenal game. Definitely one of the best in the genre.

I didn't even get the an item... No guide used so I have no idea where to get it. Oh well.

The hard mode seems ridiculous, what the hell?

Man. I'm kinda stuck in terms of what to do.
I've beaten the first two bosses (Gruz Mother and False Knight). I'm working on Brooding Mawlek but fuck that guy. Forgotten Crossroads is pretty much done otherwise. I've set foot in Greenpath, Fungal Wastes, and the Howling Cliffs... But can't really figure out where to go. I also beat Hornet. And then I grabbed the Mantis Claw from wherever that was and bought the Longnail. Suggestions? I almost have enough for the lantern, should I buy that next, or the key from the same shop?

The things in the shop willet you explore more. I'd say pick up the and figure out where on the map it may be useful

There's a couple places you can go next. Most people will say to explore the fungal wastes more and see if you can find hornet again. With your new ability you will be able to reach a new area. You can also go below where you found the mantis claw for one of the best fights in the game and another new area. You should be looking towards getting the lantern but its not the most important thing right now. Soon but not right now.

I've already stumbled on at least two places where I can use the lantern, so that might be my priority.

I'll check out Fungal Wastes for now, then. Thanks.

You have a lot of options open. Buying the lantern will expand those options.

It's been a while since my early game (I took a long hiatus), but think I went to Greenpath early on.

Man, I shouldn't have attempted
Dream Zote
mid-game without maxed out nail and the OP charms I'm still missing apparently.
I beat his 1st version, but it was hell. Died like 20 times.

Really pains me to say I will probably never finish this game and it's entirely due to the bosses .

Dying over and over to bosses is so frustrating and it's been a long time where a game has made me so angry .

It's a shame because I absolutely love everything else about this game . Maybe I need to get a pro controller because I often feel like I'm going to break these damn thumb sticks.

I have about 4 different bosses I had to give up and do something else just because they kick my ass so much.
Now I'm stuck in this damn soul sanctum boss and I know I need to beat him to access some new areas .

Maybe you have tried this, but here is a useful tip that worked for me in the past. After you reach a boss the first time, watch YouTube videos of that boss that shows how to beat it. So the learning experience of the boss moves come from YouTube instead of getting frustrated dying to it repeatedly. I often kill the boss on my first try after doing that.

When do you get your %? When you beat the game? I am trying to clear up as much as I can before I get that far. Just got to the Abyss at 30 hours (I am moving slow I think).

Don't click on that link if you care about boss name spoilers. You can just search for boss names on YouTube when you are at a specific boss.

Also, playing a 2D platformer with thumb sticks is a bad idea. The buttons on the joy cons aren't the best but I still prefer them over using the sticks.

Just put the finishing touches on the game - it was bittersweet, but I was hitting my limit with a blind, no guide playthrough. Finished at 92% completion (around 45 hours), and would rather start over in the future (maybe when G+G drops) than revisit my file.

My GOTY with a bullet, and it has slain the sacred cows of the genre in my mind handily. It has undoubtedly entered the small group of classics I will play every year or so.

I use the thumbsticks on the pro controller for this game. Come at me.

Same here. I thought it felt great throughout. A few vertical spike jump climbs I'd bust out the JoyCons for precise down, but I never felt hampered by the analog.

Well after a good elevator pitch from Kyra in the $7.49 thread, I've bought the game (@ $15) and will give it my best shot.

Any tips or advice for a total newb to the genre?

If you don't know where you are, you are playing the game correctly.

Get used to hitting walls to see if they break.

Patience goes a long way, the game rewards it greatly.

Don't look anything up.. If you are stuck come ask for a hint here.

If you die and lose all of your money.. It's ok to be super pissed it happens to almost everyone. Making geo in the game is not hard.

Just finished the bad ending. I'm at peace with ending now, and just watched a bunch of videos for the lore and the good ending. In the end I loved the game, but struggled with the difficulty, and looking at what you have to go through to get the good ending, I'm happy that I've accomplished what I did, and now am ready to move on from the game. 30 hours of gorgeous gameplay, just wish it had some options that made it easier.

Sorry, why? I don't see why repeatedly asking people for help is any better than looking something up in terms of experience. One is infinitely more efficient that produces the same result. This thread has become one big "where do I go next" and I don't really see the point.

I use the thumbsticks on the pro controller for this game. Come at me.

Naturally, thumbsticks are far gentler on the thumbs. When I try dpad on games like this my thumb is completely trashed after an hour. I don't think thumbsticks are really less precise, but if they are, it's a worthwhile tradeoff for keeping your thumb intact.

On my first try, made it all the way to the last screen with the delicate flower and then fell on the first set of thorns....

Made more progress tonight. Got to 96%. Figured I'd post some pics of my journey. Game is one of the greatest I've ever played.

About to start the game. Any tips?

Apparently there are different endings. Anything I should know beforehand?

I'm at the very very end with final boss and end game bosses left and I don't want this game to end. It's so damn good too. I'm in love with this world, the characters, the lore everything.

City of Tears is probably one of my favourite locations in a video game ever. The music that plays there fits so well too. I hope the Hornet DLC isn't the last we see of this world.

I was surprised how easy Traitor Lord was. I stumbled upon him and was like "Ohhhh crap" when I saw the name come up due to this thread. I think I might have died 2-3 times at most?

I cleared the White Palace.

It broke me, and I actually cried. But I did it. I did it!

...I don't even feel good. This wasn't really fun at all, and it feels a lot like luck when I go through a section at times. I hated every moment. I don't like how the real ending/boss is locked behind a huge difficulty spike in platforming. :\ If it weren't for the Hiveblood charm, I would have never made it through.

But, well, it's done.

Instead of going to the end, I tried the Trial of the Fool. But I keep dying to that part where the spikes appear and the walls narrow. Without an opportunity to heal I just get decimated by those purple mosquitoes and fire-spitting flying bugs and flying mantises. Sigh. I died at that spot 3 times, can't even make it further...

Sorry you don't feel good, but GRATS on finishing it!!!!

For that particular part of the Trial of Fool, I like using the charged slash and the charm that speeds up the nail art charges. You can 1 shot a ton of enemies with it and the hit box is huge. Even hits above you so it wipes those fliers very easily/

Did you do Path of Pain? It's funny, I thought White Palace was decently challenging when I played HK for the first time last year, but after doing Path of Pain on this playthrough the rest of White Palace is laughably trivial by comparison.

Interesting. My loadout is, IIRC, Unbreakable Strength, Unbreakable Heart, Stalwart Shell, Longnail, Grubsong and Spore Shroom. Maybe I should swap out one of those for Nailmaster? I do use charges early on, but I find that I don't have a lot of opportunities to charge as time goes on, because I use the downtimes to heal, and constantly shifting platforms and spikes make it difficult to maintain charges.

I don't know what this is. You mean to tell me there's more??

I acquired the Kingsoul, that's enough right? Right? :(

There's a hidden path near the beginning of the White Palace that leads to a significantly harder platforming section.
