I was an ironic Stan for Cammie back in her Nintendo days. That said I thought she was actually fun as a person and seemed very nice so I'm pleased to see her succeeding.

Cammie is a good professional, I think the problem is that we were used to a different tone...

We went from this:

Perrin Kaplan: So you’re already done with Paper and you’re ready for something next. The average consumer spends a little bit of time with it. You have to remember as a core gamer you have an insatiable appetite. You, at all costs, probably don’t shower or eat until a game is done. You’re a freak. And then you want the next one. I think we’ve launched a lot.

To this:

Cammie Dunnaway: [...]We are both having a lot of fun! I mean, how can you not be happy when your job, every day, is to get up and think about video games?! In fact, just like the people you saw in the opening video, I can't stop smiling! Of course, as a mom, it helps to be at a company like Nintendo![...]

Agreed.

It's a good thing no one in this thread is showing a complete lack of self-awareness by mocking her for thinking sexism played a part while simultaneously being sexist.

Oh.

Are you of the opinion that women = lame soccer mom? If so I'm very sorry for your experience. She isn't good at that particular job unless you want someone that caters to the elderly in medication commercials or something. She did a bad job just as I'd do a bad job, that's why I never would try something in that arena. I look forward to more of your very balanced opinions on the matter. Is it wrong to tell someone they did a bad job because they aren't a guy?

...

Did you honestly miss the point there or are you trolling?

Do you not believe men and women develop personalities based in part on their gender? Do you not believe those traits can be a mixture of good and bad traits? Do you think it should be taboo to remark on specific gender tropes that a person exhibits in a positive or negative fashion? I personally don't think it should be taboo and is not in the vast majority of society. There are times where men fart loudly on purpose, burp and scream like animals and many will call them out as negative 'manly' traits, I don't see anything wrong with that, if you feel as such. Men and women are different like it or not, if you feel we should be disallowed from commenting on the good or bad traits people exude in part because of their gender, well that's fine, I disagree though and most of the planet does as well.

I think the shitty thing about this movement really, is that most men and women like having their identity as said gender and don't want it removed, it's a part of who we are, if sometimes that results in something bad I don't see any harm in mentioning it. If I were to say, I like giggly flirty girls, would that be a horrifying remark against anybody? What if I tell you I don't like giggly flirty men? Should we be trying to wash away all traits so that everyone, no matter what, is exactly the same?

Maybe you meant to imply something else, and if so I apologize of course.

lol what's the context for this?
Just a normal interview between a journalist and a PR person representing Nintendo lol. 2000's Nintendo was wild.

I remember Brad Shoemaker talking to her one E3 and she seemed a lot more settled and different from the stage persona in her earlier years at Nintendo.

Yeah, it was a complete misread of the E3 audience and her terrible debut for her. She gave some decent interviews later but the damage was done.
