I'm happy to see companies care about these kind of things, but I would not count that as blackface at all.
But whatever, it's their call and I have no problem with it, if someone wants to watch it they will find a way.

there was no outrage or people being sensitive about the episode here. the episode was pulled from the english dub preemptively
That's a pretty big stretch for blackface, I went into the thread expecting Jynx and got sports team facepaint.
Given Ash is surrounded by a bunch of lemur pokemon, the context should be obvious.

That plot hole was one of the biggest WTF moments of my childhood. Like, adding a random Krabby to Ash's party would've been meh whatever, but 30 whole Tauroses?
I'm not really seeing it in the picture presented. I guess they would rather err on the safe side given Pokemon's history.
I don't think you can compare Ash not aging to Bart Simpson. The Simpsons are generally self contained episodes with no overarching storyline progressing time, there are very few episodes with long lasting changes (like Maude dying). Ash is very much on a journey and progressing towards something.
Anyway, blackface is obviously awful but I don't think this episode would have been that bad in that regard, Jynx was worse.

Really? Do they also edit out Jessie stomping on James' face? Because that happens a lot too.
Can I just say that I'm waiting for TPCi to respond regarding it being banned.
There have been episodes i nthe past that have been delayed beyond their initial airing order. For example: XY078: Lights! Camera! Pika! was skipped in the west and not aired until months later until between XY089: The Frolicking Find in the Flowers & XY090: Tag Team Inspiration!
We have no evidence at this time of it actually being banned and it's shoddy journalism and work to say it is at this point
Also, there was an Advanced Generation episode banned globally and a Black & White pair of episodes banned globally, with another delayed.

The porygon episode had a more compelling reason to never be shown again and yet it also killed porygons reputation in the anime.
I mean, I don't think it's bad by any stretch, but dark facepaint plus primates, why risk it? Plus it's Pokemon, 99% chance the episode is pointless.
There's never gonna be another porygon situation. Broadcasting laws got real strict after that episode and now most anime action scenes with a lot of moving colors get a visual darkening effect.
Blackface aims at representing a caricature of a black person. Here, Ash is disguised as a Pokémon, and that is not even black but more like a gray-green. Or am I wrong?
This is absolutely idiotic. He is dressed like a Pokemon, I feel like this is one of those cases where saying this is racist, falls on the person making the claim just putting it together.

Who was the US studio that dealt with YuGiOh .. did they not like invent the fucking shadow realm because the concept of death for a kids show in the USA was abit much. They could have done something similar for this with not issues
It's quite close to its real life inspiration the black and white ruffed lemur which would put it in reasonably close proximity to the existing primate caricatures and insults hat have been used before.
Feels like they are being overly cautious after what happened with Jynx, which is understandable, but IMO I doubt too many people would have complained about Blackface. He's dressed like a Pokemon, and unlike Jynx his costume doesn't have any "stereotypical Blackface/discriminatory caricature" features.
