The news is rather disappointing for Garcia, who had been on fire at the plate since being activated. In 17 games since his return to the roster in late June, he carried a .333/.347/.783 slash with eight home runs. Though that stretch also included just two walks to go with 17 strikeouts, Garcia showed last year that he can be quite productive even when carrying a marginal walk rate.

if he remained healthy and kept hitting well he could have been batting around .300 with 15 or so home runs by the trade deadline and been a nice potential trade chip :/

oh well, perhaps the white sox will manage to sign him to a decent extension for not a ton of money.

Its gonna be a much bigger success than Marlins Park I can promise you that.
It depends on what you mean in regards to a success.

I mean, if your goal is to steal tax payer money on things that tax payer money should never be spent on (stadiums for billion dollar industries in general) then I don't know if you can be more successful than Marlins Park >.>

Its gonna be hotel and tourist taxes.

I'm so glad you can see outside now during a Rays game. Tropicana Field felt like you were trapped in a warehouse. No point spending an extra $500 million on a retractable roof that only gets opened 8 times a year.

The stadium designs look great but still, the biggest question of how to pay for it remains unanswered. Hillsborough County residents are still furious over the Raymond James debacle in 1998.

NOBODY in Tampa is going to vote yes to raise their taxes to pay for the stadium.
The city right now can't afford mass transit or pay teachers a fair salary, they are not going to vote yes on taxes for a stadium, even if it includes a "bed or hotel" tax.

I have a hard time seeing how this is any different from 2007 when Rays had another render of a stadium and a location settled but everything fell apart when they couldn't get any public financing to get things done.

Says who? The Mets are never trading DeGrom to the Yankees, ever. Machado is only two years older than Andujar. You think he's ever going to be better than Manny? Most likely not.

but I want DeGRom.... *cries* I didn't know Manny was only two years older....
but I always have a soft spot for home grown talent. but we don't need more offense we need better starting pitching.

The sp market isn't very good, the best available might be Happ. I can see cash trying to upgrade the bp and offense even further due to how mediocre the sp market is.

I see why Duquette isn't in a front office anymore.

Thanks for this, I knew it was Ybor, just wanted to see where it was.

edit: I don't live there and have never been there, but the derelict lots next to the Lightning's arena seem like a much better spot for an arena, but again like I said, what do I know.

This inning is love.

The Red Sox are so fucking dangerous if they get anything from the bottom of the line up. You have to work through 4 or 5 All-Stars at the top of the line up that all hit for power and average plus they have speed, anything from 7 through 9 is just a bonus.

Edit: Also, I love the render for the Rays stadium. It would be a beautiful park if it ever gets made, but probably not for a big enough fan base for it to be worth it.

Another game when Yankee pitching can't hold down a bad team. Sigh. And finally a good Bird game!

Mookie now has scored more runs than he has games played, should be interesting to see if he can crack 150 runs scored in a season. Last guy to score more than 155 in a season was Lou Gehrig in 1936.

For reference he is at 74 runs scored with 72 games played.

An utterly disastrous series for the Yankees. Boston keeps winning and the Yankees keep floundering. So much for all that hype.
