The British' obsession with Trump is pathetic. They have hundreds of more important things at home to protest against, which they happily ignore to march against a foreign leader. Puzzling.

Trump is an easy bogeyman to hate. Our actual problems are bogged down by nuance and politics, and apathy. Trump is Love Island, the other problems are documentaries on BBC4. In a way, with Trump, the country can all unite in their hatred of a foreigner.

Bud, the entire WORLD is making fun of Trump. The only people "obsessed" with him are his Fox News supporters and the #Resist crowd, though for different reasons obviously.
I'm not referring only to this initiative, people seem to be strangely obsessed with Trump and everything he does, as if they are American. Most seem to be more up to date with Trump's latest nonsense than with what is going on with Brexit for instance, although the latter will have a massively larger impact on them and their lives, for generations. At least that's what I see, I live in London btw.

Stuff like this last year, that doesn't make sense to me:

Doubly puzzling since the UK is pursuing the same destructive, awful, Russian-inspired policies that Trump is, but the majority of the population and the near totality of the politicians are totally ok with that for some reason, and they feel entitled to protest against Trump when they are almost as bad.

Those are our problems though and don't radically effect the world. Trump does things that can fuck things up on a global scale (Paris climate change for example). We also don't really like borderline nazi twats.

Was re-listening to that song recently and think how much, nothing has changed

I still consider it the last classic Green Day album despite I grew up with their 90's stuff more

I still like Green Day but I have a real hard time listening to that particular song much these days. Maybe it's just a product of how overplayed it was back in the day but I would rather listen to a farting orangutan than listen to that song even once more. With that in mind, I totally support this.

You don't have to live in the country of the idiot you despise. That isn't a prerequisite for disliking someone's morals and actions, especially when it affects the world on a global scale. Trump is pro-Brexit, as I'm sure you know. There is nothing wrong with this protest.

Of course in the UK someone as openly ridiculous as Trump would not fly, but then you have the likes of Rees-Moog that might wear a top hat and speak fancy but are just as terrible.

And yes, I am not saying that the British should not oppose Trump's policies when he visits (opposing his visit itself is ridiculous to me though) - only that they seem to be focusing on Trump at the expense of their own, much more relevant issues. Trump is gone in 2 years, Brexit and the Tories will fuck the country up for generations. Yet people are more informed and talk about Trump more than they do their actual problems it seems. At least that's what I'm noticing in my social circle.

Yep that's a good way to put it.
