I played a lot of Sea of Thieves back when it launched. I'd like to get back into it, but I don't know anyone who even wants to play it.

I've played a lot of State of Decay 2, as well. I have to take a lot of breaks with that game though, because it tenses me up so much lol.

I played a bit of Late Shift, but I'm not sure why I never finished it. I thought it was really neat. Aren't they making a new game or something? I thought I saw something during E3 that made me go "That reminds me of Late Shift" and someone else said it was by the same guys (or maybe just same publisher?).

they have the something something of doctor something. another FMV game that looks like a murder mystery, hit xbox recently

edit:
The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker

not sure if its by them now, though

I noticed there's also a FMV bundle on the store with Late Shift and two other FMV games.

Edit: here..
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/the-fmv-bundle/c2kcsgnr6tgs?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Includes Late Shift, The Infectious Madness of Doctor Decker, and The Bunker.

I might just have to get that. The thing about FMV games is that they're either good, or so bad they're good. So you can't really lose :)

Late Shift was a treat.

There are too many great games to even start picking favourites but the ones that I only got through gamepass and played a lot of are Cities Skylines, The Division, and Sea of Thieves

Yeah I went into that blind and it was a real weird and fun experience.

Fucking love that this was the first post. Came in to say this. It's so good. We need more live action choice narrative games like this.

Yep it was really good and I got the worst possible ending of it and still enjoyed it

Have any of you tried the mixer audience voting? I enabled it in the game menu but it didn't seem to do anything on the stream

When did Mad Max leave? Never did finish it. Hopefully it is cheap digitally.

Edit: End of May. Bummer.

Too many good games to even try and list :(

I have completed oxenfree and late shift. Oxenfree is really interesting if you can get past the first 30 minutes of cringy teenager dialogue.

The gears games for anyone new to gears/Xbox.

Argh... I have to stop again.. Just too many.

My only issue was the small stuff like no chapter select or what choices you make. It's flying blind every time
When I played there were some strange bugs as well, like choices being flipped (for example if you say you want to get on the train and not help the guy at the beginning he stops to help the guy and lose the train and vice versa. Same with that person you have a chance to help, if you are nice the person treats like shit later on and if you are a jerk the person will be all friendly)

I am surprised by all the Late Shift love.

I bought it before it was on Gamepass, because I am all cool and early on shit like that. Not really just stumbled on the trailer, and thought this looks great.

The actual experience not as much.

The production value is great for a low priced FMV game. The acting and production is up there with a mid tier US action drama tv show, just without any mainstream actors.

But the choices are just so random as to the result of your decision. So it is not like what should work in your head, works in the game. Your journey through the game feels completely random.

So in order to get a satisfying ending, I would have to guess you would have to go through it a half dozen times, and base your guessing on how the narrative unfolded poorly for you the last attempt.

Anyway these are petty complaints, but I think it is a start for making really compelling FMV choose your own adventure games. And with a better story, and maybe more interesting mechanics we could get some awesome experiences in this genre.

It is like a David Cage game without the mild exploration, and hunting down each interaction on a level. I think somewhere between Heavy Rain and Late Shift, there is an awesome series of games to be had.

Almost too many to count, basically. Some of my favourite games of this generation are on it: Halo 5 and Rocket League, for example. But there's tons of great stuff like Rise Of The Tomb Raider, the recent MS first parties like Sea Of Thieves and State Of Decay 2, and plenty of great X360 classics (currently going through the Gears series, for example). Brilliant service all around.

Tbf it's an Xbox service. Because certain games are Play Anywhere they'll work on Windows too. It's not a collection of games aimed at PC players.

I can't believe people are actually complaining about a service not meant for that platform yet.

To be fair, it's called Xbox Game Pass.

This is the conundrum they are now in since all (or the majority of) their games are now coming to PC. I do expect the service to expand because you don't push support on the PC with your first party titles and crossplay and then stop there with a service you created.

To be fair, I also have an Xbox account on my PC and use Xbox Live on my PC.

I don't think it's a conundrum. It's an Xbox service. If you also have a Windows PC then you can access some games there too because Play Anywhere exists. I don't think you can sign up to the service without an Xbox console and then complain that there aren't many games that work on PC. Yes all of their first party games are coming to Windows now. But Game Pass isn't solely about first-party stuff. It's mainly a huge vault of Xbox games from every Xbox console. OG, 360 and Xbox One. Obviously not all of those (not many of them really) are gonna work on Windows.

Unlimited Access to over 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, including New Xbox Exclusives, for one Low Monthly Price.

LOL. Once again you can't complain about a service that hasn't officially launched for that platform.

Game Pass is a service for Xbox.

Play Anywhere is a feature for some Xbox/PC games.

They're two vastly different things regardless if you can subscribe to Game Pass and play games that feature Play Anywhere on PC.

Sea of Thieves: This has been evergreen for my household, and we have enough setups for three-player "local" play.

Cities: Skylines: I've barely had any time for this, but between it's addition and the X enhancement, this is a gem.

Shadow Complex Remastered: The original is one of my favorite games from that gen, and I didn't want to open my physical PS4 copy because I'm a weirdo. This was perfect.

(It's harder to narrow this down than I thought. There's easily ten or fifteen other games for me personally just as worthy of being mentioned.)

https://wccftech.com/xbox-game-pass-pc-exclusives/

This is why I'm hopeful it will expand on the PC. The only thing I am really complaining about are games on the service that can be played on Xbox through Game Pass but not PC but are available to buy on the PC through the same Windows storefront. It is the same Windows storefront that I created a Game Pass account.

Gamepass is the true killer-feature of this generation (and probably the next when direct 4K/Low-latency streaming will be generally available).

For 30 bucks (with the recent 6-months digital codes - 50% off Sale) I was able to recover (and discover):
  1. Halo Wars 2
  2. The Division
  3. DmC
  4. Abzu
  5. Rime
  6. Sea of Thieves
  7. Late Shift
  8. theHunter
  9. Oddworld Remake
  10. State of Decay 2
  11. Gears of War Ultimate
  12. Gears of War: Judgement (360)
More than 12 (TWELVE) games, for 30$...

and starting from next month to next year:

- We Happy Few
- Forza Horizon 4
- Ashen
- Crackdown 3
- Ori 2
- Gears 5
- Halo Infinite
- and more

Is it good for singleplayer only players?
I played a few hundred hours of it "solo" (meaning I never actively formed a group) and had a good time. Unlike Destiny, all content types have matchmaking so you can do even the most endgame activities like Incursions (their version of Raids) with randoms and it works.

But if you really don't want to do anything that requires playing with other people at all, the main story might feel a little lacking to you. The loop of the endgame is doing repeatable content over and over that will match you with 1-3 other people. But you never really have to talk or interact with those people if you don't want to. Just treat them as AI companions.

Also Ori 2 not confirmed for GP either yet (still in talks with MOON studios).

I've put 40 euros into Gamepass this year. I don't have an Xbox, so the options are limited for me. These games I enjoyed the most:

1. Sea of Thieves
Had lots of fun with my friends with this game. It lacks content, but it does give you lots of coop fun. Really interested to see what they'll add down the line.

2. State of Decay 2
Coop makes every game better, but not sure that's true for State of Decay. I'm having fun with it, but this won't leave a lasting memory like Sea of Thieves has.

3. Super Lucky's Tale
Actually enjoyed this little platforming title. It's not as deep as I would have hoped, nor is it diverse enough. Still need to try the DLC tho.

I'm not sure if I'll keep my monthly sub to be honest. Ashen and Forza Horizon 4 are two games I want to play. And Sea of Thieves will be on my pc for a very long time I reckon. But not sure if it's worth the sub right now.

I've sunk a lot of hours into Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2 and recently Resident Evil 0.

There is still a lot to play on there. Got my eye on Oxenfree next.

And fans will hate me for this one.. I love the DmC game too, its amazing.

MS bought We Happy Few studio, so I would expect that at some point.

Same as Ori 2, considering that Microsoft owns the IP and they will publish it (all future MS published game will be on Xbox Game Pass by default, according to MS past statements)

It's not in the contract with Moon. So they'll have to figure that out first. We Happy Few and Hellblade will eventually end up on the service for sure. But, for We Happy Few they'll have to make a deal with Gearbox, cuz they are the publisher. Hellblade is self-published I believe.

Games I've really enjoyed playing via Game Pass so far are:

Bard's Gold (no longer on Game Pass)
Late Shift
Mad Max (no longer on Game Pass)
Shadow Complex Remastered
Sky Force Anniversary

Games like Bard's Gold & Sky Force Anniversary, I wouldn't have even tried if it wasn't for GP.
Between GP and GwG, I'll never run out of games to play this gen.

We Happy Few is published by Gearbox, so there's no guarantee of it coming to Game Pass unless Microsoft works out a deal with them.

Ori 2 was the only first party game not showing as coming to Game Pass in the E3 conference, and Thomas from Moon studios has said himself (on this forum) that as of now, it isn't coming to Game Pass, but they are having discussions.

EDIT: Beaten. Hellblade will likely come to the service though once the ink has settled with NT, as that game was self-published.

I'm 37 now, but I remember being a child like it was yesterday. And as a child, I completely relied on my parents to buy me a game as I obviously didn't have my own money. So most of the games I played was a result of borrowing games off my friends etc.

Game Pass would have been a wet dream. It would literally have blown my mind at that age to have access to this many games, with new ones added all the time. I'm not sure I would have coped.

Kids these days don't know their born (etc) :)

Getting Microsoft games on day of release has been awesome. Sea of Thieves and Sate of Decay 2 are two games that I'd never buy on release day, and Game Pass gave me the chance to play them both much earlier than I normaly would.

As for "less known" titles, Late Shift was a big surprise. Caught myself replaying it, to get different scenes and endings.

Great seeing all this love for Late Shift. I was day one on that game, and singing it's praises all through 2017. Pretty sure I was one of maybe two people on this site who had it on their GOTY 2017 list. It's awesome seeing Game Pass bringing more people to a game like that.

To me, the best game I've played on Game Pass so far is probably Sunset Overdrive. Ori is incredible too, but I think I bought that one. I started up Wasteland 2 last night, and man...that is a pretty text heavy opening. I basically got up to the first combat encounter and had to tap out for the night. Will try getting back to it tonight. I've never really played through a more classic style CRPG all the way. Any tips for Wasteland 2?

Nice, I hope it didn't lose many games in the future. They need to have a large good catalogue and be able to provide streaming to be easy for the future.

I played some games on game pass: Sherlock Holmes and the devils daughter, Late Shift , Sea of Thieves, DMC4, State of decay, supee luckys tale, tower of guns and Rime.
Out of those I'd definitely recommend Sherlock Holmes, it's a good detective adventure game, sometimes too linear but it's fine. Also, it has one of the best loading screens ever.

I think the game has a lot of fake outs to it which you won't notice unless you make a choice. For example if you let Mai keep bidding at the auction you get the chance to kiss her later on which leads to a different ending. But if you stop her to appease the other guys it goes nowhere because they die. I think I played through it twice and then just read the other endings online

Oh, fantastic thread, I'm a huge Gamepass believer, and have been loving the service. I look forward to reading some of the lesser known reccomendations in this thread.

For my own I have two I could think of that I never would have tried without Gamepass but have quite enjoyed:

  • Steredenn
  • Sky Force Anniversary
Both of these have been really fun, and games I never would have bought and tried so I'm quite happy they showed up on Gamepass.

I've really enjoyed Abzu, Halo Wars 2, Super Lucky's Tale (play it with my daughter), Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2. I'm excited to play some Human Fall Flat, Vermintide 2 and others. I've literally downloaded like 6 or 7 games that I haven't had the time to play yet. haha

I played a lot of Sea of Thieves back when it launched. I'd like to get back into it, but I don't know anyone who even wants to play it.
