Margot Robbie is the world's foremost reporter who has a troubled romantic history with the best diver the world has ever known, who quit diving in tragic circumstances a decade ago. Can she convince him to face him demons and return to diving? For the sake of the children? For her?
The movie will be a origin story for the two British divers. We'll see there child hood, how they became friends, and their journey to become legends in the world of deep sea diving.
The last 30 minutes of the movie will finally focus on there journey to Thailand to rescue the 12 missing boys and their coach. A slight change to the ending will have them refusing to go home and guiding each boy out personally instead of the Thai government.
Hollywood in Trump's America, ladies and gentlemen. They can cast of the guise of being empathetic and caring for humanitarian causes now. Cynical cash grabs all around now.

Elon Musk plays himself. His story is 30 mins of the film, and it's all him tweeting.
The Elon Musk role gets front and center casting. That character becomes the true brains of the operation, has to spend most of the film trying to convince dummy Thai officials that his plan is the only way to get the boys out alive, and after a rescuer dies all parties involved reluctantly give in to the foreign American who proves that they should have listened to him in the first place.
Obviously they found the Judeo-Christian God in the cave and he personally guided the divers to the children.
Also holy fuck, a diver actually died in the rescue effort, this is in such poor taste.
Maybe it's more about making sure that no one else does it. first one locks in.
