Whats neat about Anderson is he played college tennis in America. Playing college tennis can still be a good path to the pros

I'm a little worried about Fed's form. In my opinion, he's been so-so since Montreal last year. I know he won the AO, but honestly he was playing far from his best and Cilic totally had him on the ropes. I think some of the wins have masked a way more vulnerable Federer. Obviously still one of the best players on tour, but with more players finally returning from injury and Nadal looking very fit a slam feels quite far at the moment. Another annoyance is that a couple of the matches he lost he lost them from a winning position, even with match points. So shaky all of a sudden. Hopefully he'll be more convincing during the US Open.

Anderson is the kind of player who can go through Fed, like Delpo, if he's able to up his game (which he did today): big serve, big fh/bh.

I like Federer, but Anderson was absolutely superb to be able to win the match from not just two sets down, but saving a match point too.

A shame for Federer fans, but as a mostly neutral (big) tennis fan, I thought the match was outstanding, and that Anderson deserved to win!

p.s. Anderson beat Monfils for the first time on Monday, then he beat Federer for the first time today.

on the bright side, del potro is serving for the second set. at least he won't go down without a fight (if he holds).

Anderson was terrific in the last set considering he was always serving under pressure

Lmao at this

Fed probably gonna lose in the Wimbledon quarters after winning three slams in the last two years and the take is "Welp Federer's career is done and Nadal is going to win four more slams"
What's funny about Nadal winning 4 more when he is 5 years younger?

The operative word that was cited is "healthy" btw.

Welp, that's that. Not sure what else to say.

Think I just gotta get used to this sort of result from now on.

silver lining for wimbledon is that the real men's singles final will be on friday so the world cup won't be competing with them.

Just watched the Fed press conference. He said he's mainly disappointed about blowing his chances. Didn't feel comfortable from the baseline and the 1-2 combo wasn't panning out for him after the first set. Tried to make it work either way but just couldn't come up with the goods. His words. From my perspective he looks pissed with himself, he's built quite a history of chokes despite being the most celebrated champion. Recently we had bad losses against Delpo, Coric and now Anderson.

More games played, more games won, but also more games lost. He's a month from turning 37 and is still ranked #2. Is it really a "bad" loss when you lose the final or finish in the top 8?

well?

I haven't seen anything from Nadal today that would give me confidence in him winning this match.

Delpo starts serving this set, which doesn't help Rafa at all. He will buckle under the pressure. 6-4 for Delpo.

Big perspective I think all Fed fans are completely satisfied with 20 and the last resurgence we got to enjoy. Not nearly as upsetting as some past losses because of it. It's still a bad loss however, because of all the missed chances (many breakpoints and even match points wasted).

According to the Wimbeldon app, DelPo had 2 keys for that set, while Nadal had none. They each had 1 in the previous sets.

Nadal has to tighten up his game or he will lose.

Delpo kind of sneaked ahead like he does somehow. He has been the lesser player for most of the match, yet managed to cling on and pounce on the right moments.
