oh yeah I can see Thriller in there. I wanna know how real and deep her pirate love is tho. It's a weird hook for a gimmick (no pun intended) but it's so weird it might just work by going all in on it. I bet she's jealous missing out on Jericho's booze cruise.

She was part of a championship caliber sailing group which led to a nautical theme in Stardom which led to the pirate dance in NXT which leads to ???? on the main roster.

I can see the dance getting over on the main roster just because its something that younger kids will like. Also I doubt she cares about Jericho's booze cruise. Or even wants to be on it. Odds are very high she would spend most of her time surrounded by a security detail fending off wrestling fans who don't know what personal hygiene is.

It's also worth noting that even though its Vince (therefore he could very well hate her within a few months of her main roster debut), he was apparently behind her winning the MYC over Shayna. He doesn't seem to understand the appeal of having MMA women in WWE.

Longggg time lurker (as in was lurking back at the old place) but I'm keen to start contributing. That NXT main event was absolutely fantastic and had one of the best work over periods I've seen.

Fav Five:
1 Yano
2 Okada
3 Gargano
4 Aleister Black
5 Seth Rollins

Big Morishima fan so I'm stoked to see he's returning

I don't see Kane anywhere on this list, brother. You're gonna have to pay your dues.

This NXT main event is great, but the crowd constantly doing nothing but dueling chants is distracting. Like they aren't even paying attention to what's happening in the ring.

http://www.mandatory.com/wrestlezon...wwe-on-espn-led-to-new-deal-with-fox#/slide/1
Three years ago I get a call, and [WWE] is like 'we really want to try and get on ESPN.' Not only was it the right thing to do, but they were like 'can you help us? Can you make this happen?' Other than the occasional The Rock showing up for a movie promo, there was no consistent content on any mainstream media. Vince and the WWE executives knew this day was coming. I knew that if I wanted to do more than just ESPN, that this was a good way to help and to help facilitate. I got into fights and I pushed the envelope, and I got four other guys to help me—we called them 'Coach's Crew'—we just got given credit by the President of the company to Wall Street for helping facilitate this deal.

So they took our content that we did every single week on SportsCenter; we did a segment every single week, and we got stuffed into SportsCenter every single week. They took that content—they took it to FOX, they had meetings with ESPN—they said 'listen, after the shock value of the few people that said 'oh, I can't believe there's wrestling content on our beloved SportsCenter'—after that shock value wore off, they came to it in droves. They started an entire website that still lives today.

And because of that—and I'm not saying that's the entire reason—but it's a big part of the reason that this billion dollar deal was done. FOX executives looked at what we did at ESPN and said imagine what could happen if you had a partner instead of just a platform.

That's why I'm so excited about what FOX can be, what we can do for the fans. We have an opportunity now to be with a huge company, a huge media company, and they took what we did and they said we can make it bigger, we can make it better, and we can make it reach more fans, the world over.

When I read stories from certain people—and you know who they are, Dave—and they write stories as if they are fact, and they are so off-base. That is when I had an issue with what was written and what we did. But, at the end of the day, I can't get caught up in the mud because I need to focus on the deal we got done. And that you cannot dispute; we got the deal done.

This why we have to put up with Coach's commentary.

Hmm...that ending to the tag title match was kind of dumb.

What was even stopping Bate from breaking up the submission? Threats of being disqualified?

Logic went straight out the window there from your usual WWE tag matches with a dozen saves.

bruh if it's a pirate's life for her there's no way she's not pissed at missing out to wrestle on the open sea. She could handle any wrestling fan on land as it is, but when you add scurvy to the mix? those roh fans chances of winning drastic go down.

On the last save before the finish the ref gets in Bate's face saying that was his last chance so you're meant to think that if he enters the ring again for another save it will be an instant DQ. Except WWE never actually DQs for repeated interference so...

And he would've saved his partner's leg AND kept the titles. He just seemed like an idiot for standing on the apron the whole time.

Yeah, that finish was garbo. Was hoping MM would hold onto the titles for a bit.

I've always been curious, what do the Japanese NJPW fans think of the US shows/the expansion in general?

Oh Vince

With Lesnar being all over the sports world for the angle with Cormier, it was shocking that the angle, nor Lesnar at all, were mentioned on the 7/9 Raw show. That was, as everything is, a directive straight from Vince McMahon.

It appears McMahon is adamant in creating the idea that Lesnar has walked out, is going to UFC, turned his back on the WWE fans, and isn't coming back to drop the title and holding up the belt. The idea would seem to be to create a storyline that gets Reigns cheered at the Barclays Center.

Update on Takahashi from Meltzer

Takahashi collapsed after the match in the ring, but that's typical in Japan after two guys were in a hard match, to sell that they gave everything they had in the ring and had nothing left to spare when the adrenaline wore off. He went backstage without help. But when the adrenaline wore off, in real life, he was hurting and was rushed to the hospital.

No information was officially released although the word late that night was they feared and originally believed he had suffered a broken neck.
Since then, the only thing reported by New Japan is that he had a neck injury, severity of which was never addressed, and was able to sit up and talk.
The only report we have at this time is that Takahashi won't need surgery.
He was still hospitalized three days later, and was then flown from San Francisco back to Tokyo, where he is still receiving treatment.

WTF did Coach really do that????!

Ross was in great pain flying home and checked himself into the hospital on 7/9. He was diagnosed with bruised ribs, a bruised sternum and some lung issues that could possibly lead to pneumonia. With the rib injury, every movement was painful and he had to cancel three commitments this week due to the injury. In a class move, whether ordered or on his own (and I'd think it wasn't on his own) Jonathan Coachman tried to make a joke on Raw about how broken ribs are going around in wrestling later that night.

Robinson and White both apologized to Ross after the show was over.

"I thought it was squashed after the show," said Robinson on Sean Waltman's podcast. "Obviously, it wasn't our intention to hurt JR. I think he knew that because why would we want to take the attention off the match and nobody wants to hurt anybody, especially a 70-year-old guy (Ross is 66). We apologized because it's just a bummer that it happened. We're in the wrong at the end of the day."

The tension between NJPW officials/wrestlers and JR & Barnett is some of the most bizarre stuff in wrestling for me right now.

NJPW dislikes them so much the last time they were around Barnett had to hide his face every time the camera pointed at him, now I can't imagine just how pissed off they were when he got in the ring and stole the spotlight this time around lol

WTF did Coach really do that????!
I'm sure it was ordered just like 99% of the shit the say, really really doubt Coachman would watch a New Japan show.

Kiari dancing is great and fun. Her beating Vanessa Bourne pisses me off though. It's like Becky's 20-0 winstreak against the IIconics and Mandy Rose. Or Ember's 20 match winstreak against Liv Morgan. Let the true queens win some matches every once in a while.

I've always been curious, what do the Japanese NJPW fans think of the US shows/the expansion in general?

From what I gather it's generally seen as a good thing, and a sign that Japanese pro-wrestling's becoming a hot commodity again - but, there's also a worry about US/EU markets potentially taking away big shows from Japan, like if they were to do one of their usual calendar shows (Destruction, Power Struggle, New Beginning, etc) outside of Japan it'd cause quite a stir. Also, there's a general worry about the product becoming too 'westernised', but this often comes from detractors rather than fans - the type that would rather see a return to the in-ring style of the early 2000's, and who often complain about New Japan having too many women and children in the audiences nowadays.

He doesn't shit on Kelly, just Callis.

I wish I could unhear the Michael Cole fake-mode voice that Kelly does since everyone else seems to hold him in high regard.
