There are so many interpretations of the big red cheese I think people arer going to be disappointed in any film version. I have different minds about what I like the best. The super innocent and goofy 80s Justice League International version was fun. Yet the way he was done in Legends mini series was great too.
If they can manage both sides this movie has a chance. The DC short movie "Superman/Shazam!: Return of Black Adam was a perfect balance.
I'm still waiting for DC to attempt Kingdom Come in some form. Most likely a bland looking animated straight to Netflix film. Who knows though, a well made accurate to the comic version would be awesome especially for Captain Marvel's part.
I kind of wish they would have went for a straight up comic costume, go against the grain of EVERY superhero having to do some weird "rubberized basketball" looking suit or trying to turn a fabric suit into some weird armor. Give me the buccaneer boots and the aviator style button up top.
The Alex Ross art perfectly captures how awesome his costume can look imo, I would have loved to see that style of suit for him in the movie.
Wear the fact that it's based on a comic on its sleeve and don't try to change it, just make a good fun enjoyable movie that isn't afraid of its roots.

DC killed Shazam/Captain Marvel because they argued he was a Superman Copy. Mostly because Captain Marvel was far more popular than Superman at the time and DC didn't like that (Not kidding). DC won the law suit and Captain Marvel disappeared. DC bought the license in the 70s again by that time, Marvel had its own Captain Marvel and even trademarked it. DC, DC'd itself, basically.
They should tone down the foam muscles in the sequel. It's on batman and superman too and other heroes prolly but it doesn't look this egregiously fake

How does one image (that looks great btw) make you condemn the the whole movie already? I simply can't get this kinda hyperbole.
Looks good. We truly live in the age of dreams, I never believed I would see this on big screen.

We also must remember that they will most likely reduce some of that puffiness in the suit in post production... just like they do for every superhero movie. We've all seen the Civil War shots of Black Panther and Spider-Man's suits looking fugly as hell, but in the movie they look dope AF.
So he is called Shazam? How does that work? Basically he would never be able to introduce himself right?
I believe since it's "magic", his powers know his intent. So even if he just says his name, he won't transform unless he means to transform.
Him navigating this will totally be a scene in the movie.

I'm not feeling that suit waaay too padded.
Could be a good movie I dunno anything about this character though beyond comparisons to Big.

He bulked up for sure but the suit is preposterously padded, not lightly padded. Like the suit is doubling if not more the size of any muscle on Levi.And you're gonna feel a certain way in

He did bulk up INSANELY for this. The padding in the suit is minimal and probably way less than most super hero suits.
Pretty much and because of that this will be the second most well received DC movie since the new DC cinematic universe launched. People will still hate anything DC regardless

I only hate when they take the material so seriously. Not saying the Kilmer/Clooney Batman versions were good, but I preferred the tongue in cheek Keaton versions to the deadpan serious Bale versions. All the new movies outside WW were middle of the road to bad. I just think it's because they are tryi g to be too serious/dark for no apparent reason.
While most of the Marvel movies are serious they rarely take themselves seriously.
Nah on black adam. Maybe a cameo or post credit appearance but Doctor Sivana is the main antagonist.
Tawny, unknown. Probably not since I think it would have come out in casting news. Tho personally I'm hoping to be surprised on the talking tiger front.
I hope this is the tone for the captain marvel movie. DC CU movies have ranged from mediocre to trash so far.
That costume looks like 5000% shit.
He is supposed to be mythical in a way. Like a Wizard Superman. The red should be deep velvet looking and gold should be constantly shimmering as if he was... I dunno magic.
The lines in the red part of the suit make it seem sort of hightech. And the parts that are supposed t be gold are dull and aren't exaggerated at all. Plus they choose the worst possible design for the Lightning bolt and cape.
I dont know if they are going to enhance this with CG or what but that's nasty.

Snyder somewhat destroyed a possible Dark Knight Returns movie, so with the actual Warner-DC I hope they never get a look on Kingdom Come...
Film wrapped up shooting very recently.
We do know theres CGI effects on the suit. I guess we'll get a better idea when the trailer drops this weekend.
Scenes like this is what I want a lot of in this movie.
A kid having fun with his super powers. Shift it to him becoming more responsible and more heroic (like Raimi's Spider-Man movies) as the movie goes on.
