The sense of entitlement from people who think they get to decide who it is and isn't appropriate for someone else to have relationships with is astonishing.

Fyi this showed up in my twitter moments and is an article on EW. I didn't intentionally seek this out nor would I personally tweet at her about any of this stuff. Just wanted to share my opinion.

I mean a public figure claiming that she's fighting racism suddenly decides to date someone who promotes racism to millions of viewers, most of them young folks and children, through the most popular video platform in the world

I think it all comes down to 'who the hell cares who she's dating as long as she's happy'. You don't really know either person in this relationship so what gives you the position to have an informed opinion in any way?
Just because people are famous doesn't mean the faceless horde on Twitter gets to decide what they do with their own damn life. It's abhorrent to even entertain the thought. I think that's what's causing the backlash here.

You don't know her personally, so having this level of concern for her is strange. Even if you did know her personally it would still be none of your business. She doesn't need your protection or concern. She can decide if it's ok for her to date someone or not. She isn't you.

Highlighting hypocrisy of famous people trying to be claiming something when they're anything but is a-ok, as far as I am concerned. They are in the position of influencing many people with their behavior, after all.

He's the guy who went to Japan and recorded a video of a dead body in the suicide forest and showed it to the world, pissing off the entire Nation of Japan.

BUT, as someone who is supposedly championing Asian rights in Hollywood, you can be disappointed in the apparent hypocrisy and call them out on it.
Extreme example here, but if someone like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez started to date Stephen Miller, people should be allowed to ask what the hell is going on, even if their relationship is none of our business.

If you change/westernize you last name and go public about racism in Hollywood, people kinda expect you to be woke or at least not be naive person.
