Yeah, if Sandra Oh didn't get a nomination I could at least assume they just didn't pay attention to the show. But now it's like "how did you see this show and not notice Jodie Comer's performance?"

Since they were in the same category they probably split the vote. More people probably went with Sandra Oh just based on her being around in the industry for awhile

Would love to see Adlon and Kenan win. Laughed hard at Leslie Jones being nominated. She's consistently terrible in pretty much every non-prerecorded skit she's in.

Also Silicon Valley and Kimmy nominated but You're The Worst wasn't? Yuck. Also, FX is killing HBO in the half hour category.

I don't know what's more telling: that Modern Family didn't get a Outstanding Comedy nom for the first time ever or that absolutely no one gives a shit

It's not even the best comedy on its own network anymore. It had its time in the sun.

These nominations tell me I need to finish catching up on Barry and Atlanta. I'll probably make season 2 of Westworld my workout show based on the mixed reviews I've been seeing. Something productive needs to happen during that time.

Stoked for American Vandal getting a writing nomination. It should get more but I'm glad it at least got that nom, it deserved it.

At what point did people turn on Westworld? I haven't really followed the show at all but it seemed very well liked last I checked.

I hope The Americans couple gets their deserved awards, but Noah Emmerich got robbed.
The Leftovers got left out again.
I wouldn't mind Jessica Biel winning for The Sinner, she was excellent.
Strangers Things for best writing??
This is Us gets the award for schmaltzy mediocre network show. Good for the actors, but that show?

No Mr. Robot nods? I think Rami at least deserved a nom. He was great this past season, especially in the episode with the kid.

Twin Peaks got consolation noms in Best Directing and Best Writing if that means anything to anybody lol

at least it got that. if direction was snubbed this clown awards show would look worse than ever, such interesting work from Lynch.

Peter Mullan getting snubbed for Westworld though is so dumb, arguably the strongest TV performance all year in that one episode opposite Harris and Simpson. he was the MVP of season 2, fantastic actor.

rooting for bill hader, brian tyree henry and laura dern i guess.

the comedy award is always a joke too, nathan for you and always sunny are always ignored.

Shame that graduating from one of Canada's top business schools with really good grades means nothing to the Emmy voters.

Man that best actress in a drama is fucking stacked. I could see people harping on Evan Rachel Wood due to Delores being pretty one-note in this season of Westworld, but she is still compelling to watch.

She was mostly bleh this season tbh, but yea, she still had some moments I suppose

I think season 2 has tanked their future award considerations, unfortunately. Once the buzz is gone it's hard for a show to get recognized again. Especially on a network like USA that can't drop unlimited cash into their Emmy campaigns.

Dolores or young William over Delos for acting is an absurd choice. its like when they would nominate Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones on random years just because of popularity

edit; they're obviously much better than her though of course.

Kyle MacLachlan not getting a nom for Twin Peaks The Return is ridiculous. Dougie Jones alone is enough for him to win over everyone else nominated

I mean I'd agree with both the idea that she was more deserving in season 1 and probably the least outstanding choice of all the nominees this yea (I haven't seen the Crown, but just assuming based on word of mouth), but don't think it's outlandish for her to have received a nom this year.

I'd love for Maslany to finally bring it home though. She has done such ridiculous work on Orphan Black. The scenes where she is one clone pretending to be another for example are very well executed.

It's fine, I don't get worked over nominations, just the winner.

It's hard to argue against anyone involved with The Americans winning, tbh. They are all ridiculously good.

It's just time man. So tired of them getting snubbed haha, it's their last year, would love for them to go out with a bang. Also it'd be really cute if husband and wife both won, although it'd be super unlikely.

She brought it home 2 years ago.

Still had some really good performances in the final season, even if the season itself was a down one. Delivered a baby from herself. 4 of them hanging out in the back yard. Even the one solo Allison episode was a pretty good performance of mostly a single character.

I'd say the biggest consistent snub in the past 5 years that gets overlooked is the Orphan Black effects team, and the hair and makeup department who are so important in the whole clone process.

If The Americans doesn't win Best Drama then the Emmys are even more horseshit than I think they are now. They should win them all... I've never seen and extended run series maintain momentum like The Americans and the last episode ending was satisfying to boot...

It won't win...

Midgar, With Love
CBS really pushed for Star Trek: Discovery and it just isn't happening. TrekMovie did an article covering its pair of nominations and noted that this ties three other television seasons (DS9 Season 2, Voyager Season 2, Voyager Season 4) for a franchise low.

Honestly though, there's a hell of a lot more competition these days IMO. Not saying Discovery warrants like 15+ nominations, but I do think it would have stood a stronger chance at 6 or 7 in the 90s, lol.

Way to go Game of Thrones, Westworld and The Crown. I'm especially happy for Westworld, which needs to remain a big critical darling in light of its numbers.

Comer getting snubbed for Killing Eve is one of the standouts for me. She's fucking magnetic in that.
