Gets constantly hounded by paparazzi. Makes a few talk show appearances. Leads a sitcom that's cancelled midway through season 2. Eventually dies of a drug overdose.

He kills himself from the embarrassment of knowing that clearing his browser history and using private mode was absolutely pointless.

He now owns the studio and is running his own show where everybody thinks they're in a show but they're not.

Most likely scenario; he doesn't know how to adjust to the real world and finds it very hard to fit in. He uses whatever means of escapism possible (drugs, sex, virtual worlds, etc) and eventually ends up in the VR version of Truman show which has two possibilities:
1) he's somewhat aware of it all and leads a semi-controlled existence
2) he chooses to erase parts of his memory/lobotomise himself a la Walter Bishop to live in the Truman Show v2.0

The film never really deals with if he's come to peace with the existence or not and just focused on his escape. His rehabilitation isn't going to be easy. The world existed truly for him, people tried to not hurt him, the society didn't resemble the every day world. He's just going to find it hard to fit in no matter what. People rarely know what to do when they get what they asked for.

well the end implies that the woman he fell in love with immediately got up to meet him, surprised no one mentioned it in this thread. I'm sure they'd be alright.

He's owed decades of money as the main actor of a 24/7 TV show with merch, he's going to be insanely rich.

1. Get out, meet Sylvia who's already going there to meet you.
2. She'll help you sue the shit out of the company.
3. Travel the world or just retire in Fiji.
4. If you need extra money just go to every single talk show or write a book because EVERYONE is going to want to talk to you.

I wonder if he could sue. There's no way that there haven't been protesters who have tried to sue the studio already, and they obviously weren't successful. Would him being free change that?

Also I wonder if his marriage is still legal.

I always wonder what happened to Peter Weir after more than Truman. Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, Master and Commander... and now he's been nearly invisible for over 15 years.

He was the most famous and recognizable person in the world. I'm sure there are ways to monetize that. He could probably strike a few mega-deals and never have to work again in his life.

I'd love a sequel where because of his ownership by a studio since he was a baby, they tricked him to go live in a new set but he doesn't realize it almost the entire time. The comedy comes from how bad of a job the new set people are doing but he is oblivious to it for some reason. Then after being revealed the truth of the scheme he is in disbelief because he still thinks he has free will.

He accepts the money and fame and pretends to lead a normal life, "behind the scenes" he is plotting a mass extinction level event using his merch and a deadly toxin that accumulates over time in people and then people die... because he despises the world that was ok with using him like that... nobody is spared!

He gets out and attempts to integrate back into society in LA.....

Only to realize at the end that the entire city of LA is in a much larger dome and the whole town is being watched by the rest of the world.

He would sell the movie rights, play himself in the movie, write a book about his life, write a book about the making of the movie about his life, do the talk show circuit, bang a few starlets and retire to the French Riviera after the glitz and glammed corrupted him.

All in all I think he would be just fine.

So his real life would be even more fake than his fake life.

Is Truman legally still married? Is he a citizen of any country? Is he a virgin or how did that work?
Hes was never married legally, remember his "wife" had her fingers crossed in the wedding photo.

Come to think of it, why would anyone agree to that job. I mean, she slept with Truman to make a baby. She is an actress having actual sex for money? Does she have a real husband in the real world? Would he be ok letting his wife have the baby if another man?

And if shes not married, did she really spend that much time with Truman and not develop any actual feelings toward him.

So many questions....

People adored the guy. If a billionaire didn't set him up for life, I'm sure a charity would've been started for the guy to live comfortably.

That's for him to decide. It's why you don't see him again after he walks through the exit door, even as it shows reactions to his departure. His life is his own for the first time and the viewer doesn't get to watch anymore.

I think by now, the way to make a sequel is to start by seeing where he is now, 20 years after escaping, and do occasional flashbacks to gradually fill in the gaps. You could make a compelling story with that format.

Got rich off his fame. Went to find that girl and married her. Honeymooned in Fiji. Had kids with her and a big mansion. Never truly got over his haunting experience but explored the world to the full with his one true love all the same

The real world is so drastically different and Truman is pretty old. Adapting would be difficult if not impossible. He'd probably end up taking his life.
