This is pure DOS nostalgia bliss. There's just something wonderful about VGA graphics and synth music that makes them work so well together.

Those X-Wing and TIE Fighter cinematics were incredible at the time, especially when you consider that new Star Wars films were a pipe dream.

Yep loved vga graphics a lot. Are there indie games using something like this?

VGA graphics is almost like - don't hold back do whatever. Barely a limitation haha.

Dusk lets you drop down the res and color palette, do point filtering and all that. You can get it so it looks like something that would have just barely run in DOS.

Also there's stuff like this that could be Amiga or DOS (almost) http://idracu.la/a-couple-of-new-gameplay-gifs/

Oh god, the music for Alone in the Dark 2 is atrocious.

It really is. The thing is, I remember playing the demo for this game back then and the music was way better. Now I'm wondering if my memory is deceiving me, or if they just used a shitty sound card in this particular video.

Beautiful. Makes me realize how few of today's indie games that tried to capture the "spirit" of that era have achieved to do so. Guess it's time to head to GOG again...

Nice nostalgia trip. Sadly my backlog extends even back to some of these games from the 90s. But glad to have experienced some of these titles when they released.

The intros for Ultima 8 and Syndicate, man... That and the X-wing and TIE Fighter intros.

This shit takes me back.

Missing Day of the Tentacle and Quest for Glory 4. And Crusader: No Remorse, but I suppose that's outside of the timeframe.

I only ever played a handful of these, but the art/animation on almost all of them (that I've seen so far in the video) is beautiful!
