What would happen if Strzok just quickly said 'Trey Gowdy is a sack of shit' prior to any response? Could he get in trouble?

GOP really wants to keep regurgitating the same garbage? Well I guess they're been doing that for the last several decades why stop now.

If their base loves to eat bullshit why stop feeding it to them?

They even have a channel dedicated to seeing shit flow freely from the mouths of their "News Anchors" 24/7.

When it comes to republicans feed them shit and keep them in the dark.

The Land
This hearing is exactly what Republicans would love to do every day in office. It's the conservative insurgency's dream day at work- browbeating perceived political opponents with nonsense so that they can feed their cult. They literally would do this every day and then go in front of their constituents and make their case for reelection that they spent every day doing exactly this, if they could.

It doesn't even matter how badly they get owned, which is really badly every time. They just have to stay on message and go through the motions.

And take payments in the background to undermine the US government and get their sponsor corporations the ability to make even more money.

Thank you! Glad to see someone else sees it this way.

This is nothing more than a show. They'll be able to weaponize this easily just like Benghazi and Her Emails. People who vote for them will believe anything, while none of this is a shock to anyone with some sense. This is their strategy all along. The sad part is, they did win. This will come back and used the same way as the other 2 examples when the time comes.

It really is a shame how a man like Strzok who has been nothing but a patriotic American responsible for a wide array of great accomplishments has his career and reputation torn down in just a few months by desperate republicans spouting complete bullshit for political gain. I really wish there was legislation that prevented this. If they were ordinary people, Strzok could sue them for defamation since their claims are largely without fact and are completely made up. I'd love all these republicans in court having to explain themselves only to admit it was all for show, and claim it's part of their career like some Alex Jones bullshit.

What is the stated objective of these hearings? Because this seems like the most aimless and pointless thing I've seen.

There is no objective, the whole thing is a crock of bullshit put on by the GOP. The real intention is to help support Donald Trump's Which Hunt narrative. Unfortunately many American's are too stupid to see beyond this transparent circus.

Welcome to ALL Congressional Investigations. They are all a joke.

Congress is not charged with investigating crimes and/or prosecuting offenders, that belongs to the Justice Department and State/Local law enforcement officers and prosecutors. Congressional investigations are about grand standing and winning PR points for your side.

I wouldn't say they're ALL jokes.

In theory they should be used to get a person of interest to speak before all of congress (or as much of it as possible) on a relevant issue or case or investigation so they can bring congress up to speed on details and field questions.

Sadly like much of politics in the US it is mostly used for grandstanding and PR points, yes.

I don't see how anyone can hold out hope for the US after that display of naked corruption and zero consequence. Really hits home how Trump is a symptom of the GOP and not the root disease. They'll keep pushing the boundaries of what used to be acceptable until the whole edifice comes crumbling down.

I mean, I think Strzok is doing great and think he's "winning" but anyone thinking the republicans are regretful or 'losing' haven't been on this planet very long. Republicans got their sound bites, they got some 'evasion' from Strzok, and that's all that will be played on Fox News. Republicans will be very happy with what they "got".

They were never hoping to find a 'smoking gun' here because they know there isn't one. They just needed some air time so they could be filmed jerking off to their constituents and screaming at a 'lib'.

They aren't too stupid, they're just completely unwilling. The problem isn't just the GOP lying to their constituents, but the constituents lying to themselves.

And really, what reason do they have to face the truth? One side is promising them a white ethnostate where they can say and do whatever they want with zero accountability. The other side wants equal rights for the minorities they hate. Easy choice for them.

Bingo. Congress isn't functioning because of blatant partisanship that flies in the face of good governance. No one cares about how the office is supposed to be run, and things have devolved into a circus designed to score political points.

It would be hilarious, if it wasn't so sad, how ridiculous this is...the insanely long arguments amongst each other based on the very first question...wth is happening right now?

It became apparent about an hour in that this was less a nothingburger and more another blowback unforced error from a bunch of idiots who only sound cool in their own heads. Hannity will probably edit together a couple of zingers and that'll be all that Trump and the base sees. Also highly likely that a couple of them incriminated themselves or gave out inadvertent cluesin the eyes of people watching for exactly that.

Eh. Barely. They definitely went fishing super hard for their desired answers and I don't think they got hardly any.
Partially because they were trying so hard with the badgering that they didn't even let him speak of course.

They'll edit some trash together of course.

Wasn't Gowdy seemingly being reasonable for a brief period a while back?

Wonder what made him swing the other way.

I have the same question about Graham but I think it might be as simple as trying to avoid the appearance of obstruction of justice or some narrow avenue of guilt or perceived opportunity. Lindsay almost broke his neck switching back to turd and I strongly suspect he was warned or blackmailed - so abrupt was his turn.

Pure speculation obviously.

Exactly

the entire point of this is to farm for material and ammo for the next propaganda push
