The only reason I can imagine that these are so popular is because of the overwhelming relief one gets when we annihilate one of our own. That feeling is somehow felt even when just watching someone else's.

I've watched a few.

I once visited Youtube without being logged in. Instead of my regular Colbert, John oliver, science feed I saw a thumbnail that showed someone "cleaning" a huge (huuuuge) zit (i think thats what its called).
I didnt click it, but the thumbnail haunted me for days. I kept coming back to me, ruining my apetite and focus.
Finally I caved and decided to watch it.
It was fucking horrible.
It still haunts me.

dang. how did all those worms bury themselves within that dog's jaw?

"Female tumbu flies lay their eggs in soil contaminated with feces or urine or on damp clothing or bed linens. Damp clothing hanging to dry makes for a perfect spot. The larvae hatch in 2–3 days and attach to unbroken skin and penetrate the skin, producing swelling.[7] If the larvae hatch in soil, any disturbance of the soil causes them to wriggle to the surface to penetrate the skin of the host.[5]"

Every couple of months I find myself searching this stuff out. I find it grim, necessary and very satisfying. I try and keep very good care of my ears and skin, so I rarely get any foreign bodies, large spots or wax build up. I had an inch long splinter in my thigh when I was 9, it took a month to come out. The feeling I got when that fucker came out is the rush I chase when I watch this stuff.

I had a similar experience when I was about 13. Got a huge splinter lodged in one of my butt cheeks after scooting my butt forward on an old wooden bench. My dad spend about 20 minutes with a razor blade trying to get it out for me. How embarrassing that was hopefully no one on this forum finds out.

I've heard it described that there's a deep seated appeal in things like this because it subconsciously gives a feeling of cleansing, like there's just a basic recognition that pus removal is automatically a good thing. It's far too common just to be a niche fetish.

I liken it to how I felt when I was a child and had a loose tooth. They could hurt, and are kinda gross, but it just felt right in a way.

You should never pop them. There's a million reasons why they occur, but popping them is never the answer...

Youtube's algorithm is complete garbage. A few weeks ago it randomly recommended a blackhead removal video titled something like "3/4 hole blackhead removed", and I was confused about what "3/4 hole" meant so I watched it. It was basically just 4 pores that had become dilated from all the junk that had built up in them, kinda interesting tbh because I didn't know pores could do that. But now thats all youtube will recommend me. I watched ONE video, youtube! Why do you think thats all I want to watch now?

That's why I log out whenever I watch stuff like that.
