Given that it's the old style of RT where it has you basically repost the text to your account I'm not surprised. Their automation just caught it as them saying it themselves.

It used to be the only way you could retweet. Why do you think the racists went back so far to find posts to report?

That's how it worked four years ago my friend.

That's how retweeting used to work.

Oh, I see now. Didnt realize it was a post from 4 years ago. I thought he did this -now- but the thing he "retweeted" was from 4 years ago. My bad.

Wait, what? This Tweet is from 2014. Twitter added the native Retweet button in 2009.

https://blog.bufferapp.com/the-4-different-ways-to-retweet-someone-which-one-is-best-for-you

Twitter introduced a native retweet function as one button inside Twitter in around 2009. It means that you don't alter the Tweet in any way. You simply hit "retweet" and the exact same Tweet gets shown to your followers as you have seen it.

People would still do the old "RT" method after that for numerous reasons (which are expanded upon in that link above).

That's they way you retweeted if you wanted to keep the tweet incase someone tried to delete it. Twitter is in the wrong here. If they actually cared about banning racists, they would have banned 45 years ago.

Yeah, that's the answer here. It took that long for the system to catch it. But the system was also programmed terribly to not recognize the RT followed by the @name as an old style retweet.

Nowadays when you want to retweet something without fear of it getting deleted, you just tweet a screenshot.

Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook are fully culpable with the destabilization of American social norms and the perpetuation of White Supremacy.

It will not change because irregardless, a white supremacist is still considered a user for their metrics. Money is more important to them than having class.

I think racists are responsible for perpetuating racism. Those sites are just highly visible platforms for said racists. I'm not even sure if it would be technically or financially feasible to moderate out all racism on sites with that much content, or even most of it. You would need a human moderator to read every single post in context.

Somewhat of an excuse.

We've seen plenty of examples of these users violating the TOS with their rhetoric and resulting in no action.

We've also seen plenty of examples of users reporting injustice and instances of racism getting banned under the same TOS clauses that bigots are immune to.

All 4 promote that same behavior. Nobody wants to do anything.

Also a blanket ban on racial slurs is going to take out more trash than benign users with need of context. Think about the platforms were talking about.

I live in a giant bucket.
And yet, actual racists and Nazis remain.

Fuck Twitter. That I'm forced to use it breaks my heart every day.

Eeeyup. I consider Jack Dorsey and his ilk to be dangerous individuals.
