Looking at Ubisoft with all their successful GaaS games this low is weird. What's even more weird is that this's after doubling in stock price in the last 12 months. July of last year Ubisoft was at 6.5 billion :| Same as Konami now and smaller than Namco.

Surprised Ubi is this low actually
The biggest thing is that they've only started getting into games as a service and digital revenue relatively recently compared to EA and Activision, so they've had a lot of catching up to do there revenue wise.

Their service and digital business is building quite well though, so the stock value has went from around 12 Euros a share five years ago to 100 Euros today. They just need a few more hits there and a bit more conversion to digital revenue, and the road to $20-$30 billion in market cap should be pretty much paved.

Is that notable drop near the present right after E3?
That was April 1st. I'm not sure exactly what happened there.

If recent gaming stock trends are any indication then EA is about to file for bankruptcy. /s

I'm surprised Square Enix is so low, given they are the only Japanese company to have significant western holdings (at least in terms of development).

The potential of Origin Access Premier and growth of subscription revenue over the long term is probably being baked into this. Huge dollars potentially if EA can provide compelling software to subscribe.
Was thinking the same thing. This might push EA to pepper some major titles throughout the calendar year instead of dropping the big bombs in the fall/holiday season.

Man Capcom lower than Sega and almost at Koei levels.
Capcom is really being killed by a lack of any successful service games and having virtually no mobile business.

They're going all out on fixing the latter in the near future, but they're still on the "We have to make competent games in the first place." phase of the former before they can start converting those back into service platforms.

I do think their future looks a lot brighter than their present and immediate past, but I totally get investor pessimism at the moment, since there was a big missed opportunity in making Monster Hunter a high profit ongoing service.

Good for them. Can't say they're the boldest game publisher out there, but EA is a pillar of the gaming industry and I'm happy they're doing well.

I can't believe that Activision are worth more than Nintendo and almost as much as Sony. That's fucking bonkers!

Well, once you remember that Activision merged with Blizzard it's a little easier to see why. Activision owns some of the biggest properties in the console space (CoD, Destiny) and Blizzard is probably the biggest player in the PC market behind Valve and Riot, plus they've got successful mobile stuff (Hearthstone). And didnt Activision buy King?

If they didn't have Battle.net, I could see them making their own console, they're behemoths

Although if they didn't have Battle.net, then they wouldn't have the market cap to make their own console

Oh I know and they have Battlenet as well, but Sony get 30% of everything sold on PSN and they have there own huge sellers as well. Even knowing what each of them own i still find it crazy that they are so close. Actually, is that number for Sony as a whole of PlayStation, it's Sony isn't it?

Yup, a lot of that $60+ billion is the Blizzard side. WoW still makes a lot of money, but there was a time when it was the biggest moneymaker in the industry, before mobile took off.

It's all of Sony.

Activision has mobile success and the biggest gaming IP (CoD) plus Blizzard who are just huge in terms of revenue from multiple sources (Overwatch, WoW, Hearthstone). People forget just how much of a juggernaut Blizzard is.

I enjoy EA games more than 99% of ResetEra/the Internet (Anthem is my most anticipated game of 2019 if TLOU2/GOT aren't out) so...good for them

EA being bigger than Nintendo is so bonkers.
Not really, Nintendo has a very narrow business compared to a lot of these other gaming companies. They are only just now getting into mobile, they dont have any GaaS, and outside of licensing all their revenue comes from their consoles and their own software, they dont make even remotely close to as much as Sony or Microsoft due from third party sales on their platforms.

It's actually impressive how much Nintendo is worth when you compare the way they do business to their competitors. Incredibly successful for such a lack of diversity in their business ventures.

Holy shit at that Microsoft market cap.....
Era makes it seem like MS is hurting so you being surprised doesn't surprise me. They are an extremely valuable and wealthy company. Don't let Era fool you.

OT: I'm not mad at EA for making money like all coporations set out to do. Just control how you integrate those damn lootboxes and I'm good.

Actual surpise here is that Sega Sammy lower than SE.

As for Capcom, they were never that big, btw. Also, from all video games JP companies probably only Konami and Capcom avoided merger (+ Sony and Nintendo, of course). I mean technically there's no Koei anymore, no Sega, no Atlus, no Squaresoft, no Enix, no Namco, no Tecmo, no From Software (they're part of Kadokawa now), etc. Only Capcom and Konami survived that.

15billion is a LOT of money let's not lose sight of that

EA has way more properties. FIFA makes more than £1billion per year alone. Outside of GTA Take 2 doesn't have all that much else.

NBA2K is the second biggest sports game in the world and biggest sports game in the US market.

Surprised for Take-Two's value. I guess having the biggest and most profitable media product in history isn't enough for these giants.

When people say that, they only mean Xbox specifically. No one with half a brain thinks Microsoft as a whole is in trouble. And really the 'trouble' Xbox is that Microsoft might lose interest in the gaming market, not that they will no longer be able to fund Xbox. They could feasibly keep Xbox going as long as they wanted. Microsoft as a company is likely never going away, they are too big.

I have lost a lot of faith in people's ability to research and think for themselves.
