The biggest thing is that they've only started getting into games as a service and digital revenue relatively recently compared to EA and Activision, so they've had a lot of catching up to do there revenue wise.
That was April 1st. I'm not sure exactly what happened there.
Was thinking the same thing. This might push EA to pepper some major titles throughout the calendar year instead of dropping the big bombs in the fall/holiday season. The potential of Origin Access Premier and growth of subscription revenue over the long term is probably being baked into this. Huge dollars potentially if EA can provide compelling software to subscribe.
Like I said once we're not in a World Cup year, which just so happens to be the year they have the Champions League license again. This year's FIFA will be insanely huge.Given PES recently lost the Champions League license i expect FIFA19 to dominate the market this year.
Not sure why that's surprising, they are one of the biggest companies in the world.
Capcom is really being killed by a lack of any successful service games and having virtually no mobile business.
EA is pretty darn consistent when it comes to revenue and their sports IPs are massive reason why. A consistent source of revenue.
Not surprising, all the companies above them have way more diverse business. Whether that's mobile, PC, licensing, merchandising, western branches, pachinko, etc. Capcom is behind. They dont even have a GaaS moneymaker
Well, once you remember that Activision merged with Blizzard it's a little easier to see why. Activision owns some of the biggest properties in the console space (CoD, Destiny) and Blizzard is probably the biggest player in the PC market behind Valve and Riot, plus they've got successful mobile stuff (Hearthstone). And didnt Activision buy King?I can't believe that Activision are worth more than Nintendo and almost as much as Sony. That's fucking bonkers!
Man, Microsoft's market cap dwarfs Sony's when you consider the companies as a whole.
Take-Two always surprisingly low when you keep looking at how well GTA sells. Then again, all else they publish tends to be very very average in comparison.

If they didn't have Battle.net, I could see them making their own console, they're behemothsI can't believe that Activision are worth more than Nintendo and almost as much as Sony. That's fucking bonkers!

Oh I know and they have Battlenet as well, but Sony get 30% of everything sold on PSN and they have there own huge sellers as well. Even knowing what each of them own i still find it crazy that they are so close. Actually, is that number for Sony as a whole of PlayStation, it's Sony isn't it?
Eh, I'm not sure about that. How your character looks based on armor sets is a big part of MH's appeal.MHW with comesmetic lootboxes would have been a smart move by them.

What they really need is a mobile gacha
Yup, a lot of that $60+ billion is the Blizzard side. WoW still makes a lot of money, but there was a time when it was the biggest moneymaker in the industry, before mobile took off.If they didn't have Battle.net, I could see them making their own console, they're behemoths
Although if they didn't have Battle.net, then they wouldn't have the market cap to make their own console

Not really, Nintendo has a very narrow business compared to a lot of these other gaming companies. They are only just now getting into mobile, they dont have any GaaS, and outside of licensing all their revenue comes from their consoles and their own software, they dont make even remotely close to as much as Sony or Microsoft due from third party sales on their platforms.
Era makes it seem like MS is hurting so you being surprised doesn't surprise me. They are an extremely valuable and wealthy company. Don't let Era fool you.
Actual surpise here is that Sega Sammy lower than SE.
15billion is a LOT of money let's not lose sight of that
EA has way more properties. FIFA makes more than £1billion per year alone. Outside of GTA Take 2 doesn't have all that much else.
I enjoy EA games more than 99% of ResetEra/the Internet (Anthem is my most anticipated game of 2019 if TLOU2/GOT aren't out) so...good for them
It's not like Capcom is lacking the IP/recognizable characters to have a successful mobile gacha game either. They just keep fucking it up somehow.
Watched the 20 minute demo 5 times
Looking at this news, you are far from the only one. I enjoy EA games as well.I enjoy EA games more than 99% of ResetEra/the Internet (Anthem is my most anticipated game of 2019 if TLOU2/GOT aren't out) so...good for them
When people say that, they only mean Xbox specifically. No one with half a brain thinks Microsoft as a whole is in trouble. And really the 'trouble' Xbox is that Microsoft might lose interest in the gaming market, not that they will no longer be able to fund Xbox. They could feasibly keep Xbox going as long as they wanted. Microsoft as a company is likely never going away, they are too big.Era makes it seem like MS is hurting so you being surprised doesn't surprise me. OT: I'm not mad at EA for making money like all coporations set out to do. Just control how you integrate those damn lootboxes and I'm good.

NBA2K is the second biggest sports game in the world and biggest sports game in the US market.
I have lost a lot of faith in people's ability to research and think for themselves. When people say that, they only mean Xbox specifically.
