For 16 years, Ring of Honor Wrestling has created some of the top stars in professional wrestling, and for nearly 50 years, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has brought Japanese Strong Style to the world. Together, these two companies have delivered world class shows such as "War of the Worlds," "Strong Style Evolved," "Global Wars," "Honor Rising," and the "G1 Special," which NJPW has launched as a special kickoff in the United States to their annual "G1 Climax," known as one of the most elite tournaments in professional wrestling.

ROH and NJPW are proud to announce that on April 6th, 2019, the companies will join forces to present the ultimate wrestling event, "G1 Supercard," to fans from around the world, LIVE from Madison Square Garden in New York City!

Oh shit. Considering RoH got bitchslapped away from MSG originally, I wonder how this is now happening and how this is going to go down in Stanford considering it was WWE who scared them off. And on Wrestlemania weekend too in Vince's home turf, basically.

AND the same night as NXT Takeover Brooklyn V at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This'll be good to watch, if only for the reaction.

Vince is going to open the checkbook and poach talent from both companies.

In all seriousness though, Vince is gonna deploy some jack-booted thugs in Gedo's direction any minute now.

Interesting to note that Omega and The Young Bucks were left off the press release despite their stature. Both acts contracts are rumored to end within the next six months and no doubt WWE will be pressing hard to get them. No guarantee they appear on this show

Considering the rumours are they're going to make big money plays at the end of the year to bring back Cody Rhodes and bring in The Bucks and Omega, you might be right.

Also worth noting too that this show had better be, y'know, better than what Supercard of Honor was in New Orleans. That show, with the exception of Kenny Omega-Cody, was piss poor. And even the Omega-Cody match, good as it was, failed to live up to the hype. Especially considering that, like this G1 Supercard, this was going up against an NXT Takeover, a Takeover that for my money had one of the best top-to-bottom cards in WWE history and two Meltzer-rated five-star matches with the NXT NA title ladder match and Ciampa-Gargano I, a match long anticipated.

Honestly? I'll take my chances with Takeover still.

This isn't going on at the same time as NXT right? That would be terrible for the fans.

Who does ROH have NJPW don't?

I'm talking in terms of relevance

...Flip Gordon?

(I genuinely don't know, but I'm discounting the bigger hitters like the Bucks and Cody in case they go to the 'E next year by the time the show hits)

Yup. Same as it has the past two Takeovers in Orlando and New Orleans with Supercard of Honor.

Well, at least one of the Bucks is tweeting about it, so that's a good sign as far as them being involved goes.

Will be interesting to see what the WWE offers the Young bucks.

They made it clear on a recent podcast that they expect to clear seven figures this year.

Please keep the Young Bucks far away from WWE.

Signed,
Someone who doesn't want to watch the fucking Young Bucks.

I forget. Is the night before Mania the HoF or NXT? (what this will be going head to head against)

Interesting that Omega is not confirmed and he is the champ right now.
Technically his contract is up early next year so he cant be confirmed just yet.

I dont see him leaving New Japan yet tho

Maybe in another 2 years.

And juat because ROH are involved doesn't mean it's automatically awful. There are still guys over there that can go.

The Young Bucks would be a huge acquisition for WWE. Like, the kind that would skip NXT and debut on the main roster.
