Before this film, I had not been keeping up with Mission impossible, at all...

I didn't even realize how long ago Rogue Nation came out before I watched it. I liked Ghost protocol too! It was really my enjoyment of Rogue Nation that got me hyped, but I don't remember many people I know talking about it, but I thought it was a strong action film. After this, I saw that the same director was back for the next installment along with the a similar cast and Superman. When I caught the 1st Fallout trailer in theater's when watching another film, I think that cements. Therefore, it's safe to say that I've been anticipating this one for a while.

I have no idea how the Mission Impossible franchise keeps doing this. Most franchises get stale after their third movie, yet Mission Impossible only seems to get better.

Me and my 10 year old son cannot wait for this.

He loves Teen Titans Go and is more excited for this film than the TT Go Movie

You could say it's almost mission impossible

Not even surprised about the positive reviews at all. The last 2 movies have been some of the best action films of the past decade easily

I was waiting for the other thread to update but then I see you all got the fun here.

I just finished Ghost Protocol for the first time a few minutes ago, and that was one hell of a trip, damn.

Can't wait to watch Rogue Nation. But I think I wanna give Ghost Protocol another watch before then.

I'm not a huge MI fan, but I remember seeing the trailer for this in theaters and thinking it looked awesome (my needle usually doesn't move for trailers).

It somehow got set up perfectly through the growing pains of the first three - make insane set pieces with a character that only has to be crazy enough to do them and surround it with just enough plot to keep it paced well.

Like, no one cares about Ethan Hunt. But I want to see another Langley or Bhurj Kalifa.

Rogue Nation was the best one, this is without a doubt the new Bond and the slew of directors they keep getting is amazing

I mean, it's less a series and more of a spy action movie anthology that happen to share a character named Ethan Hunt. And Ethan Hunt is practically a different character each movie, from dual-gun-wielding action hero family man training other agents to legendary super spy. None of the movies besides this one have the same director or any continuity, so each movie is basically its own thing that lets a director achieve the big-budget spy action movie vision they want without having to worry about sticking to some kind of overarching franchise lore or expected elements.

A big part of it is tied to Cruise, too. Dude has boundless energy for the series.

And he's willing to go with whatever vision of Hunt that a director wants. Compare that to Bond, each actor plays a specific kind of Bond

On the other hand, Tom Cruise always plays Hunt but each Hunt is different; he's whatever is needed to suit that director's style.

The trailer made it look great, so I'm not very surprised the reviews are good. But these are better than I had anticipated or hoped for.

They don't seem to settle. The BTS videos have spoilers, but worth checking out after watching the movie. They go all in. You see Cruise or Cavill hanging from a helicopter, they're not on a set with green screen behind them. The stunt work is nuts.

Every time the trailer for this showed up, I'd think, "Oh yeah, I forgot this is coming out." But I've always been optimistic that it'd be a fun, if somewhat unmemorable film. These scores make me think I may be wrong on the latter assertion.

Damn, I didn't think reviews were going to be that good. That is some high praise. So excited for this, the trailers were so dope. This franchise has just been trucking along in the backround of all the franchises, just being awesome as hell.

Damn Im excited to see this. Havent seen a mission impossible movie simce MI2. Trailers look incredible for this! Ill definitely see it.

Same here. My friends and girlfriends since MI2 have hated Tom Cruise and I was too ashamed to go to the theater by myself way back then. That, and MI2 I vaguely remember not being very good. But I've wanted to catch up since this trailer came out.
