Using the same listing style as this thread (multi plats, ports and late releases count) almost every console is "killing it" all the time. The Xbox One cops some flack for its game lineup for instance, but it's never less than robust taking all releases into account.

there's never been a better time to be playing video games imo

I own a PS4 and Xbox and I haven't played a lot of these other games, so the rule doesn't apply to everyone.

But whatever works to discredit that the Switch is getting games, sure.
Ok? I said the lineup is rather weak for me. If you had PS4/Xbox and decided not to buy some of these ports that's on you. Did my post upset you that much? I'm sorry. :[

I'm still trying to catch up on games from last year. I'm finally at the end of Xenoblade 2, but its got its claws in me so deep I'm probably gonna dive right into the postgame. And of course the expansion is coming out soon too. I haven't been so thoroughly hooked on a game in a while.

Almost all of these are available on other platforms tho lol. It's not really Switch specific. Octopath Traveler and Smash Ultimate are all I'll be playing on the Switch this year. Pretty disappointing.

well actually you said "Uh I guess it's a great for people that only own a Switch and no other platform" so you were speaking for other people and one of those other people decided to chime in

no need to speculate on how upset someone was because they responded to a point you made on a discussion forum

The switch has kept me consistently busy since I purchased it at launch. I do not miss my PS4 at all. I kind of regret buying an xbox one, but at least I can use it for 4k bluray

I would have assumed if you really wanted to play these games and you owned other platforms you would have picked up the games already. Some of the games are almost a year old already. I guess it's also great for people that are hyped up to play Crash Bandicoot Collection and owned a PS4, but didn't pick it up last year. :]

If you own a PS4/Xbox/PC/WiiU and haven't played these games, and the Switch is your primary console. Great. Enjoy these games. The lineup is still weak for me, and I wouldn't say they are killing it. Just like how I wouldn't say PS4's lineup year 1 was killing it because they had a TloU port haha.

You're right, Nintendo wouldn't know how their system is used by their users. We'll go with your totally unfounded speculation instead.

I definitely held off on Hollow Knight specifically because they mentioned a Switch port by the time that game was on my radar and I'm glad I waited as I've been playing it almost exclusively in handheld mode

but yeah it's all about preference at the end of the day and many people have many different preferences

I guess your hunch is a more reliable source and I'm a part of the 20%, then.

Honestly even if you were to just say these were ports or DLC or whatever it definitely feels like there's more to play now than earlier in the year. It might be because I haven't played my Switch much during this time because I had a job in the beginning of the year, and got a PS4 and was buying games for that but H1 definitely felt much more sparse.

Killing it with late ports of old games and indies ?

Well I guess if you only own Switch and nothing more then probably yes you will have a lot of good games to enjoy.

I want both Mario tennis and wolf but I'm not paying £60 for either tbf outside of them there's nothing for me personally (I will buy dark souls one day) I'm more than happy to chip away at skyrim in the mean time though.

I own a PS4, a Wii U, and a good PC and I LOVE the Switch's lineup this year. Octopath Traveler is the only big new game on any system this year that I'm super excited about and there are so many games (indie & otherwise) that I've been holding off on buying & playing because I was waiting for the superior (to me - portability is a vastly bigger pro than anything the PC or PS4 versions have to offer most of the time) Switch version.

Sometimes, I wonder how many people consider that:
  • some players double-dip for several reasons, including portability, new content or whatever
  • some players held off on purchasing existing versions of games (i.e. Hollow Knight) waiting for it to hit the Switch
  • objectively, it's still a respectable lineup, whether a person likes the game or not, has previously played it or not
I mean, come on - a recurring point I see is about how much of a shame that a good game got lost in the wash of Wii U exclusivity in its generation (i.e. Captain Toad, DKC: Tropical Freeze), and now that these games get a second chance to shine, it's all "SwItCh OnLy gEtS pOrTs oF oLd sTufF".

Let people enjoy things.

I'm interested in (or already have on Switch) 11 games on that list. And I have a PS4...

I'd rather have certain games on Switch just because of the portability factor. Especially true with indies.

I have a gaming PC with 3,000+ games and i can say the switch has a good line up of games. I manage to play it as much as i can and if i dont play it much, its because i dont buy enough games for it.

I just don't see it. I mean I guess ports are fine and all, but that is all I see there. A massive list of ports. Except Octopath, what's so exciting about it? People are probably double dipping on those games since they've been out for a good while now

Pretty much how i feel with my PC vs the switch. There's certain games i rather play on the switch because of portability, which is why i repurchased hollow knight on the switch.

I think the Switch's portable popularity is exaggerated greatly. I'm willing to bet 80%+ of customers never take it out the dock, nevermind around the house.
I don't take it out of my house, only to college. But I have only used it Docked once. It's just not worth it. I'd rather have my PS4 hooked up to the TV. Hell I think I lost the dock. On the other side, I thought there would be way less people using it Docked

Actually, you got that reversed. According to a study Nintendo did on the Switch's demographics, about 20% never take it out of the dock, 30% only use it in portable mode, and 50% use it in both modes. So for 80% of Switch users, the portability is a feature that is used.

Lots of late releases and ports you can find on other consoles for a fraction of the price

Might get Splatoon 2 expansion and Overcooked 2. Interested in Captain Toad but I'm not buying old Wii U ports for full price anymore.

It's a pointless comment. With the huge amount of overlap that exists between systems, any lineup can be made to look worse than it is by putting it against another system that you already own. By this logic, the PS4 was a glorified doorstopper if you owned a PC for most of its lifetime.

The key difference is the Switch is getting many of these games much later than the other platforms.

For the love of God... Why on Earth would a Nintendo case study ever say the opposite, if they're the ones pushing the portability narrative?

Even if the ratio of their data sampling is correct, what is that data sampling and what filters have they switched on? If their sample is from the get-go a survey of 500 Switch users that use Switch as a portable device in ANY capacity, then that's that.

That's all it mostly is when we get these "switch is amazing" threads about every month. Constant flood of old games= 24/7 killing it I guess.

It's not an amazing summer is it really. It's fine.

I am surprised how few new games Switch is getting from Nintendo. Smash and Pokemon will be the first major new games of the year. And Pokemon is a remake.

Guess they wanted to leave a gap for 3rd parties

Argument being you only have a Switch is pretty bad. Really you're intentionally doing yourself a disservice so you... can argue it's software is more valuable?

Yeah, exclude late ports and you have a few titles for the summer, but not a ton. Not the second coming or anything.

Ok, dude.we got it... Nintendo is wrong. You're right
Now calm down a little.

Since you seem reluctant to respond to me for some reason, I will mention, for the third time, this article that mentions how they found that data.

User Banned (1 Week): Inflammatory point of comparison
The White House tonight said they've reunited all the caged immigrant babies and kids they're legally allowed to, in an official statement. Yet almost every press outlet disputes this. But because the horse's mouth said they have, it must be true, right?

Literally embarrassed for everyone in this thread who think Nintendo wouldn't use fairly standard PR tactics.
