This isn't a "get rid of KK" thread, the report was she was looking to leave in September. Dana Walden would be a great shout as somebody about to join the Disney family that would be great for Star Wars, pushing provocative characters and ideas into profitable projects. Paired with somebody that is versed in the mythos, it could be great.

I feel like when Kennedy does actually leave LF. That crowd will think it's because of them. And not because she'll be taking another job with leading another big studio.

It'd be somebody that drives the creative vision for the franchise, essentially coordinating all the creative teams. What Lucas was doing before, though perhaps not directing.

There isn't really a position like it at the moment. Kathleen Kennedy brings in individuals that pitch ideas, she focuses on producing, with a team of people led by Pablo Hildago having to make sure it's on brand and fits together. Which is perhaps why the Disney era feels a little hodge podge, there isn't a guiding visionary setting the tone.

I think recent examples of creative directors (even if they're not called that) of franchises are Colin Treverrow with Jurassic World, JJ Abrams with Star Trek movies, and Justin Lin with Fast & Furious.
I don't want a creative director. I don't want anyone or any group of people drawing up narrative bullet points and telling people like Favreau and Johnson and Abrams what stories they should tell. George Lucas is gone and no one besides the inventor of Star Wars possesses that level of credibility.* Just let the filmmakers do their thing.

*And let's not forget that Star Wars fans eviscerated Lucas for his unopposed authorship over Star Wars. Myself included.

No thanks. I am sure Dana will end up somewhere in the Disney organization, but I don't want her running Lucasfilm at all.

The title is misleading and there is no confirmed news or reliable news source about this. When there is reliable news available, please make a new thread. Thank you.
