Anyone here doesn't get the green download progress bar in the steam taskbar button anymore? I don't have it in mine for a couple of months now...

Also, how would Yakuza 0 run on a 1st generation Alienware Alpha i3 version? Been interested in trying out the Yakuza games, but I'm not sure if this pc can handle it.

I'm astonished on how bad Far Cry 4 was.
I'm not a fan of Ubi games, I enjoyed FC1 back in days, never played 2, played 3 on PS3 (only the main missions) and while I found it extremely boring, at least the villain was interesting.
In Far Cry 4 I see nothing but a big bunch of repetitive tasks to accomplish. The story is MIA, you see the evil dude two minutes in the intro, other two minutes near the ending of the game, and one minute in the end when
you shoot him.
I mean, there's barely a story here and you just need to clear some repetitive and uninspired missions left and right, for this dude or that one. The main character also forgot about his mother's ashes, because I ended the game and he did nothing with those, considering he went back to Kyrat just for that, I found it extremely hilarious.

Also what is about Ubisoft and drug missions? I mean, in 3 you set on fire a camp of drug, in 4 you do the same, so many missions where the main character is allucinating under the effect of drugs in 4, and there were in 3 too, maybe Ubisoft thinks drugs are cool or what? I don't understand, those missions are not even funny to play, they are here and that's it.

Plus I simply hate the fact the progression of your character is buried under ton of side-missions or stuff you need to do in order to be a bad-ass. I mean, if I select Easy I should be able to breeze through the story, which I did on 3 but here was impossible. Enemies deplete your shield and health in no time, you can carry just a limited amout in healing items at once and when you finish them you need to slowly heal by pressing a button, 1 health tank at once. I'm not sure I should play the game by using stealth because it sucks in this game, the guards are dumb as a brick but usually if they spot you, they instantly trigger an alarm, so more of them come.

Anyway I'm glad I played this for free, but probably it's my last Far Cry. I gave Ubisoft another chance but no matter if I play Assassin's Creed, Far Cry or Watchdogs, they all feel like the same game to me.

I played the gamecube version of Skies of Arcadia. It was a fun game, too bad that I never finished it since I borrowed it from a friend

Speaking of ports, this time not from SEGA, I wish the most recent entry from the Splatterhouse series (from 2010) would make it to PC/Steam.

While some reviewers gave it a mediocre score, which scared some people from buying it, the game was a blast to play, a rare 3D beat'em up I loved playing. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I completed the game 3 times in a row (for each of the difficulty levels), and was a rare title I 100%ed on the Xbox 360. Sadly, my 360 broke down, and I can't play it anymore.

It was a rare reboot done right: the game has a very fun B-movie ambience, the combat is a blast, full of easy to pull combos (and very gory; some moves have finishers like something out of Mortal Kombat), the voice acting is one of the most enjoyable I recall hearing in a game (with some awesome voice acting by Jim Cummings, the voice of Darkwing Duck, as the devious Mask), a soundtrack with both original and licensed metal tracks, that despite not being a genre I usually enjoy, it complemented the gameplay perfectly, and a whole bunch of homages to the previous entries in the series (including some 2.5D sequences that resembled scenes from the previous games).
On top of it all, it also included the arcade version of the original Splatterhouse, and the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis games Splatterhouse 2 and Splatterhouse 3.

Another cool thing about a possible PC version, is that the game is full of scrapped assets, levels, and other content, because the game switched developers, and much of the old content was changed or scrapped altogether. Modders managed to access some of this content on the Xbox 360, on PC there would be a decent chance of mods that unlocked some of this content.

BANDAI NAMCO has been porting everything to PC, even older titles, but sadly, this one wasn't one of them.

In a time where even titles such as Bullet Witch get ported to PC, I wish someone would take a chance on it. I'm sure if it was priced decently, the game could sell a few copies. If nothing else, because of the inclusion of the original games.

Ghostlight_Ross , I know you mainly release JRPGs, but is there any chance you may consider taking a look at releasing this game?

I never played this back in the day, but you've piqued my interest immensely

I always hear great things about Skies of Arcadia and I know the soundtrack is great, but never actually played it.
Would be nice if that came for sure.

Oh man, yes.
Bamco has various titles from the Wii and PS360 era I'd like to get a re release for preservation purposes even if at best they are mediocre.
Aside from Splatterhouse there is also Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, which was some Ico/Legend of Zelda like game. There's also that Klonoa Collection I've been waiting 5 years for now.

While emulating PS3 games is possible now, I wouldn't mind a proper PC release.
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom was indeed another good one. I had the game on the Xbox 360.
Sadly, since the Enslaved port didn't do well in terms of sales, I'm not sure if we will ever get it.
There are a few Game Republic titles I would welcome on PC.

I never played this back in the day, but you've piqued my interest immensely
If you do get the chance to play it, give it a try. As soon as you unlock moves, and get the hang of the character, the combat is a blast.
It's a very fun, gory ride.

Been playing a bunch of Vermintide 2 in the last few weeks.
That game makes me really bummed out that there aren't really any good Warhammer games.

I also wish SEGA would take a look at their Arcade titles, and release some of them on Steam. A few of them never got ported to any home platforms.

A couple of suggestions:

Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder:

And since everyone is now playing Yakuza 0 (me included), here's an older, but extremely fun, arcade game by Toshihiro Nagoshi:

Spikeout:

I just finished Blue Lives Matter, Too.

Oh boy, this game REALLY likes to hear itself talking.
Every dialogue is about three times as long as it needed to be, meaning i often tapped out mentally and started browsing the internet while the cutscenes ran.
That aside, the game was pretty good.

Unlike the first game, this isn't just a police sim on a city map, but also an XCOM-style TBS-game, albeit with a focus on stealth rather than action.
I think they did a good job at translating the xcom formular that way. I think the game is a bit unrealisitc because it encourages the player to capture criminals alive rather than to gun them down, but some liberties must be taken i guess.

If your issue with the first game was, that it was too repetitive, i think this game is still worth checking out.
If anything, i didn't found this one repetitive enough. You jump so much between cutscenes, the police sim and the turn-based strategy, the investigations and the occasional tortue, that i felt as if i could never really settle down and get into some routine.

But now matter how much you enjoy playing the police, never forget:

Remember the times where Yakuza 0 was announced as a "Console Exclusive" and Atlus PR told us very clear-cut that it will only be on PS4.
Look where we are now.

Interesting write-up, thanks! Are there multiple significantly different endings this time depending on if you go by the book or go mega-corrupt? Was so weird it did not differ more in the end in the first game. Shame it still feels a bit bloated, given the dialogues you mention. Maybe I'll consider the sequel when it gets a substantial price cut.

Megaman X Legacy Collection is such a shitty port.
The input lag is noticeable, plus from time to time shit like this happens:
bI5NoWx.jpg

I was in the third stage, right before the boss door, I died and when I respawned this was the result. I couldn't do nothing except closing the game, I could rotate powers but that's it, nothing else. And now I need to beat the stage again, and it's very hard to reach the point I died. I really don't understand the reason they went with savestate for Legacy 1, checkpoints for Legacy 2 and now for X Legacy 1 we have nothing, just the option to save passwords. I'm not a kid anymore and to me those games are very hard, I have no patience to exactly learn the path by repeating the same session 100 times, at least with checkpoint or savestate when I cleared a hard section I didn't need to repeat it ad nauseam until I pass the next hard spot.

If they didn't put savestates or checkpoints in order to praise old gamers, well, it's just bullshit, because old players have always the option to not use save state if they want, while new players are forced with the old method which is just brutal in 2018.

I really want to give up because those games are HARD. And the rookie mode is just useless because it can't protect you from spikes, pitfalls etc, the damage takes by enemies is the last of my problem. And I beated all classic Megaman with no problems, but X2 is breaking me.

Didn't seem like there are multiple endings, tho i can't say for certain.

I really don't see why Skies of Arcadia hasn't made its way to Steam yet. Its not niche, it's highly recognized and loved. I knew you had good tastes in RPGS :D.

So Steam doesn't actually want feedback it seems.
They deleted my comment in the news section about the new update (within 5 seconds lol)

I was simply asking why the chat doesn't open on machine start anymore and if we ever get different color schemes *and* why my username has this blue background color.

I don't think anything I said was inappropriate...

The only reason they deleted it was because they feared others might agree imo...

We're never getting a different color that's for sure and it's hella depressing I really hate this awful bluegrey :/

Has there been any indication that the Kiwami games are going to make their way to PC? I'd like to play through the series, but I don't really want to bounce back and forth between PC and PS4 to play the games.

Thank you. :)

It would be awesome to have this game on PC.
Especially since this year marks the 30th anniversary of the series.

It's a bit late for that to happen, but I would say this is the kind of game that is perfect to launch on Halloween.

And I'm glad to hear you are looking into other action titles. There are many worthwhile Japanese action titles that are currently unavailable on PC (like Vanillaware games such as Muramasa, and Dragon's Crown), so hopefully you may release in the future some action titles as well.
