Damn, the plagiarism gets more and more apparent as the video goes on. As if the IGN goes "fuck it, I've come so far already. Might as well go all the way"

NVC is gonna be a little awkward this week. Kind of seems like a stretch, both seem to be paraphrasing a press release description. Metroidvania check, rogue lite check, ease concern people have about rogue lites, check.

Edit - Got to the end this time. Yeah ... that's hard to defend.

It's shockingly close. I'd find it hard to believe it's a coincidence. If one or two of the lines were that similar, maybe I'd chalk it up to coincidence, but the entire review feels so close!

I just don't get how this happens? Filip doesn't seem like the type of dude to maliciously steal someone content. I don't understand how this kind of thing happens, or why people think they can get away with it.

It was Filip's 9.7 that made me bite the bullet too. Pre-loaded on Switch.

I wonder if both reviewers read from a press document. I remember listening to a podcast way back, I think it was GFW Radio, and they said often when reviews sound alike, it's because both are essentially rewords of a press document provided by the publisher/developer.

Honestly, there are way too many similarities and the criticisms certainly didn't come from a press release. The top YouTube comment has a good point as well:
definitely copied you because of the wording he used on the timed doors. You both said something to the effect of "doors that unlock once a certain amount of time has elapsed" even though a more accurate way of saying it is "doors that will remain unlocked until a certain amount of time has elapsed", since they are speedrunning doors instead of "sit around and wait until it unlocks" doors.

I mean... I don't really see it. It sounds more like both of them were working off of the same press release or press kit for preferred terminology. I assume that a quick check of the guy's internet history on his work PC will tell all.

Wonder if he just gets a slap on the wrist or will issue an apology.

Hard to replace his predecessor at NVC Jose was so good. But plagiarism for a site like IGN is definitely a not good mark on his work.

There is no excuse. IGNs credability is hitting an alltime low thanks to this. I will cringe if I ever see his name on another review.

This / some of the things being said aren't super original quotes and are instead mostly mechanic summary.

But I actually haven't enjoyed his hosting on NVC which is the only IGN content I check in on so I don't want to seem like I'm just defending IGN.

I thought that too until they got to the criticisms. It's clearly plagiarism. Dude just threw his job away over a 4 minute video review.
