Wow Loving this thread.

The Switch is making me find new love for portable gaming again. I guess its the idea of the HD screen.

Its making me wanna revive my Vita, I have also have a Shield that I use as a tablet mainly but will def explore grabbing some shots on higher level games

GPD Win looks so good, Win 2 is gonna be dope.

Will def add screens!

I finished it without any problem and i really enjoyed it :)
It ran around 30fps or a little less i think most of the time, i bet that now with the windows game mode it will run even better, with game mode games usually gains several fps.

Ah thanks! That's pretty interesting - looks like the quality isn't taking much of a hit either...

As an aside how'd you find the game? IMO it was the best of the three (Asylum / City / Origins) that I've played, and I liked what they did with Detective mode.

What game is this?

it's Cat Quest. I played it on the switch but its on other things as well. It looks like a mobile game but its a surprisingly fun little rpg.

Ok after the beginning shadow warrior run worse, i keep playing it at 1024x600(i can't go lower) because why not, but i don't suggest to play it on the GPD Win

It has some old school secrets lol

As you wish :)

Yeah, its an interesting handheld, basically a VITA+ in power. I still use it on occasion but I find it way too bulky to play long term plus mine is starting to die :(. I'm holding out for the upgraded GPD XD to release so I can get back into Android gaming properly.

I'm a little jealous of the Xenoverse 2 shots. There was no way in hell I was buying it on the Switch with the Australian tax they wanted, especially when I found the PC version on sale with all DLC for half the price. Sadly the game just doesn't run very well on the GPD WIN at all, like the hub worlds frame rate sits in the teens at best. Just gotta wait for the WIN 2 I guess to have my portable Xenoverse 2 :(
RER2 looks good :)

Yeah i think it's the best one, i n particular i really liked the bosses anmd their fights.

Skyrim looks soon good, possibly should have played it a bit this week instead of just playing Xenoverse 2.... Whoops!

Nothing wrong with that. I still play Xenoverse. I need to finish the story, but I mostly play it for the online RPG aspect. It's the only game like it on the Switch right now.

The devs under Bethesda's umbrella, both BGS and otherwise, are really doing some fantastic work in supporting the Switch tbh. It keeps on seeming like the ports they do shouldn't be as good as they are, but yet they wind up finding a way to make it work...
It's kinda crazy seeing such great portable efforts from a western dev. Really hoping Bethesda is pleased with the Doom/Skyrim reaction and puts more stuff on the system.

Some shots from Android. Forgive me posting a few more Modern Combat Versus ones, some of them are much brighter and others more dark, but that is due to an inbetween update. I have minified those pics however.

Specs phone: 4x Cortex A53, Mali T720-MP2, 2 GB DDR3
Resolution: 1280x720.

Heroes of Warfare (Closest to an Overwatch one that you can install now in English, max settings i believe):

Suicide Squad: Special Ops (Max settings):

Modern Combat Versus (High settings, auto-set):

Bonus: Modern Combat Versus (Ultra settings, PC, 1080p, Intel HD 4600. This is just used an illustration of how the game looks on max settings as shown on high-end phones):

What do you use for screenshots? Any secondary app or HW controls? I find it hard to take decent screens on my device, theyre either boring or in the middle of the action so they look dumb

HW controls. There is a button combination of sleep mode button and volume low button that can be pressed together to create a screen grab. However, in landscape mode, the controls are reversed, so its power down and volume up. I believe most phones have this option? It can be turned on aswell i believe if it isnt on default.

I also just stand still when i spot a good screen and take a shot. I could use a dedicated app for this but i think this suffices since i dont want to meddle too much with them.

Great shots! How's the performance? Shadow Warrior portable has to be amazing :D
In the beginning the performance was good(around 30 or a little less i think) but later it runs worse, i can deal with it and i guess it's technically playable since i'm playing it without even dying, but probably most of the people would prefer to wait the gpd win 2 to play portable shadow warrior with smoother fps.
Take into account that my gpd win is still as i got it though, some people change some settings in the bios and other things to get a performance gain so i guess that shadow warrior(and other games) can run better, but i didn't want to risk so i didn't do any of those things.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I think the Metacritic score is on point overall (67). Being based on a free-to-play mobile game, it definitely feels like the price was set at $45 so that they had plenty of room for future sales. That said, it is a pretty meaty game. The graphics aren't great if you compare it with home console racing games from the past 10 years, but I can't say I expected better. They're a small team. They don't have the resources that enable Need for Speed, Gran Turismo and Forza to look the way they do. It looks good enough for what it is.

The huge relief I have is that the driving feels great. In terms of presentation and progression, it 100% looks and feels like a mobile game, but the driving is excellent. As someone who wanted to play a real-world racing game on the Switch since the system launched, it definitely delivers. Less impressive is the frame rate in docked mode -- there's some slowdown at the beginning of some races -- or even the frame rate in either mode, since the game looks like it could run at 60 FPS, so the fact that it doesn't is too bad. It hasn't really hampered my enjoyment though. It's smooth enough, but it can add to the unpolished feel of the game.

For people who are looking for a racing game on the Switch but are less desperate than me, I'd say wait for a sale. But it is good and I do recommend it.

Ok, thanks for the answer. I find fascinating the GPD Win, probably my next portable will be a Switch, but having a lot of the games of my Steam and GoG libraries on the go its also very tempting.

Dead Space (Mobile) - Nvidia Shield Portable
Actually a pretty good game all things considered. No native controller support, but easy enough to map the controls. Its a few years old now so not the best graphically but still gets the job done. Manages to feel and play like Dead Space. Story wise its a prequel to Dead Space 2, explaining how the Necromorphs were able to penetrate the station and the initial attempt at cleaning up the mess. It was delisted a while back, so if you hadn't already bought it then you're pretty much out of luck.

Gear.Club looks pretty nice graphically.

It's a small team and based on a free-to-play mobile game, so obviously concessions had to be made in many places, but if you take it as a 4DS or Vita Pro game, it does look good. That's the unfortunate thing with realistic games, you need a big budget to make them look great. You can't hide shortcomings behind a simpler art style. In this game, that means cardboard cutout scenery and some crude 3D models, but the cars look great, the environments look better than the sum of their parts because they got the feel of the environments right, and I believe it's 720p undocked and 1080p docked, so the game looks sharp and clean in both modes. It's also a ton of fun and has more content than I expected.

This thread always reminds me just how impressive the Vita was for its time. MvC3 looks shockingly close the PS360 version at the same framerate and Kill Zone still looks quite nice.

Thought it would be interesting to show screenshots of Resident Evil Revelations and Ironfall: Invasion, two graphical showcases for the 3DS. Resident Evil is cleaner in 2D mode with 2x AA and I feel has an art style advantage, but Ironfall: Invasion not only throws around as many effects as RE, but does so at 60 fps in 2D mode and with bigger environments. Honestly, I feel Resident Evil gets way too much credit for its graphics and Ironfall gets way too little.

I think the problem is, RE Revelations has beautiful artstyle and design, and great animations and a very AAA feel to it, by virtue of its budget, and it has incredible set pieces, and arguably more details than Ironfall, which can look very samey.
The tech behind Irofall is bollocks, but the game needed a big team to really feel high end.
