JYP literally dropped a financial report 3 days ago saying their new gg would debut in January with Somi at the center.

This shit wiped the fuck outta their plans

damn terminate and not expiration, must be bad?

edit: STAN LOONA

It was mutual so probably she didn't want to wait until next year when there are so many groups debuting. (Produce 48 Group, SM new group, GWSN, Loona...)

With Twice doing amazing with no sign of slowing down, a new Chinese buy group debuting next month and a Japanese girl group being in the works to debut late next year or early 2020 it doesn't seem too far fetched that the new girl group might have been put in the backburner like some people are speculating, and if that indeed happened I could easily see that being a reason for Somi wanting to leave.

How? What would another company debuting a group have to do with her own debut? Unless you are suggesting she's jumping ship to SM to join their new group.

Did Naeyeon or Jihyo leave JYPE in 2014 because SM debuted Red Velvet?

As I said again, plans change according to other groups' debuts or releases in every company. The JYP NGG is not the only project they have and they've been known for having problems scaling (With staff, mostly. Twice has been using the same stuff WG used and GOT7 the one 2PM uses). What poklane said it's also true. They have lots of projects on their hands. This is all speculation, of course, but I honestly think the NGG wasn't on JYP short-term plans and Somi wanted out before her popularity decays.

An event. It is so gooooooooooooood. They all look great, and the lore touches tying everything together are nice.

On the Somi thing... this actually makes the girl group more attractive for me, lol. I was never a fan of her and it felt like the girl group would inevitably be the Somi show. I'm assuming the conflict with Somi came from the concept of the group or Sixteen 2, don't think it's related to time for debut, since realisitcally, any other company she ends up with will debut a group with her after the new JYP's girl group if all goes well.

Somi decided to leave because she knows whatever GG JYP creates won't be able to face Loona

Those vocals and that beat are at odds with each other.

They're singing way too slow for a beat that fast.

Seemed fairly clear that Twice's success and the way JYP management handles them played a part in Wonder Girls' breakup and Somi's issues.

JYP finally have the SNSD-level "global" dominance they always wanted from Wonder Girls (who were limited to certain regions) and have left a lot of their other artists as an afterthought. To a lesser extent: 2PM -vs- Got7 and Stray Kids.

Special stage needs to happen at the end of the year.

YG is the only problem tho
You know more than anything else, that's the exact reason it won't happen.

So I like Mark, but they really did put him in every single NCT unit in existence.

Damn Somi too? With DIA possibly disbanding and Weki Meki with Fantagio still a big question mark; Some of the ioi members should form a subunit. Somi, Chungha, Chaeyeon, Yoojung, Doyeon, and Sohye
Chungha is the least in need of a group to succeed, though. Chaeyeon is obviously better than Sohye, but neither one can dance or sing that well.

Dodaeng is great (especially Yoojung) so it would be nice for them to either have a dedicated subunit or better song quality. Weki Meki isn't bad, they just aren't good enough.

Haseul is not a particularly good dancer so you expect she won't be central in too many formations.

Still, she's supposed to be the leader and is one of the best singers they have, yet the non-singers have equal or more lines and screen time.

Anticipate the debut of NCT Thailand with Mark and Taeyong, but not Ten.

Anyway, I'm curious to see what happens to the members of Wanna One when they disband. Boygroups have long relied on a more fervent fanbase to counter the lack of public awareness so I wonder if they'll weather splitting the attention better that IOI have.

They will have to graduate him from NCT Dream next year, he isn't supposed to be part of the group already but oh well...

Stylish & Heat are defintely interchangeble for me because I have both on repeat

Congrats to Loona on their 100th debut!

Well that's disappointing. Forming a group with Somi, Ryujin, Chaeryeong etc. seemed like the easiest slam dunk of all time. Reminds of when DSP thought it would be a good idea not to debut the six remaining contestants of Baby Kara.

If Somi is still interested in joining a group, I imagine management agencies will be falling over themselves to sign her up.

Thoughts on JYPE letting Somi leave: Honestly this is one of the things I like about JYP and his company. He has allowed artists to leave multiple times now before the contract is up to allow them to explore different avenues if they felt they were being held back. I give him props for not being a company that forces artists to always stay against their will due to contract obligations. Forcing artists to stay doesn't lead to anything positive in the long run, and can create animosity in various areas surrounding the industry and even fandom.

Also I find the LOONA "Hi High" to be a really fun and enjoyable song. I'm really digging it. Way better than "Favorite".

I'm pretty sure Somi leaving means none of the sixteen girls are left in JYP.

And the ryujin mediplay basically nuked any good will for Ryujin

'Mediaplay' must be one of the most mindlessly overused words in Kpop.

Anyone hating on a teenage girl for a company PR that lays out the future of their new group after their most high profile trainee leaves the company is a worthless idiot in the first place.

Oh They're not hating on her for the company pr saying that jyp gg is still coming.

They're hating on her for that company pr article that said. "Actually Somi wasn't the super talented good one that was Ryujin."

The lawbreakers approach is never a good idea.

I knew Somi wouldn't debut in a girl group. It just felt like she was destined to be more of a model, promo queen, etc.

[SelfieMV] 드림캐쳐(DREAMCATCHER) - YOU AND I @KCON18LA

(여자)아이들((G)I-DLE) - '한(一)(HANN(Alone))' (Choreography Practice Video)

Yes: I'm fully onboard.
No: I won't use parenthesis for G-Idle at least until they get on f(x) level.

NCT Denmark featuring Taeyong for some reason.

Watch them add him into NCT China just because.

Not that I mind since he's my fave, but poor boy could use some rest, lol.
SM thinks he's a one-man Twice.

Congrats to Loona on their 100th debut!
