The anime episode was cool, but showing Luffy breaking the mirror in the OP is second in dumbness only to showing Robin sailing on the Merry 25 episodes before she joins up.

They killed all the impact that scene could've had.

Lol it just gets left behind in everyone's favorite arc discussions. Always enjoy seeing people gush about it's parts that aren't just the great Bellamy punch.

Blackbeard being introduced as a polar opposite to Luffy; Zoro and Luffy not fighting in the bar; and my man Montblanc Cricket talking about men's romance with dreams. It's a straight up amazing arc (I think the English version just called it "romance" because there's no weird for it in English). Similar in execution to Sabaody and Reverie.

You read the manga lol

The final scene in Luffy vs Katakuri will be screened at Jump Special Anime Festa (Nov 25 - Dec. 2).

So many new people here, welcome y'all (even the "Zoro as favourite SH" ones, we can't all be perfect :p)!

And glad to see some of that Akainu love. One of my favourite characters by far. Such a menacing, ruthless, strict and hateful motherfucker.

Pure ABSOLUTE JUSTICE.
He still looks like a boss, but I prefer the non-scarred look he had pre-timeskip, though.

what kind of incestuous affirmation of slander did I just witness?

I love Sanji but the small curly brow crew is too toxic smh

Sanji was once my fave. I just don't like the direction his character went in.

The same direction...?

Can't say I dislike it, but I think he looked better as a clean shaven Yakuza-looking dude.

My boy looks fire (magma?) with any look he chooses though, we all can agree on that :B

Nah I only started feeling him with the TS look, so no, we cannot agree.

Pre-TS, Akainu look like a dude that's mad that he's forced to use his vacation days.

You read the manga lol
I mean, sure, but I'm speaking from the perspective of those who don't. My brother follows the manga through the Brazilian releases, which are still in Dressrosa, and my girlfriend will eventually get to this point as well without reading the manga. I'm pretty sure my brother would've flipped out with that scene if it hadn't been shown literally months ago. Instead, he seemed to know exactly what would happen the second Brûlée showed up in the mirror, haha.

I didn't read the manga back when Robin showed up in the OP either u.u

I get that most people in Japan read the manga and that's who the show's geared for... but they really did not need that shot of Luffy breaking the mirror in the OP. Feel free to use the Mirror World scenery, but don't go out of the way to contextualize it months before it actually goes down in the show. It's completely unnecessary.

I was talking everything Sanji related when I said "character". I just don't like the woman stuff, his stuff during WCI, the blood stuff during Fishman, etc....

It is just lame.

Still slowly making my way through my reread of the manga, got to near the end of Skypiea last night. I'd forgotten just how ridiculously destructive Eneru's powers were and how big the scale of his threat actually was at the time. Thinking about the future of the series the next time we get a villain anywhere close to the same level of a destructive threat isn't until Doflamingo with his birdcage.

Though I guess you could argue Vander Decken/Hody trying to crash Noah into Fishman Island counts too

Loving women, saving your family, and being nice to everyone is lame?

Damn, I guess it really is true that being a bad boy is in fashion

The nosebleed on FI was way too over the top though, I'll agree to that. The way it wasn't just a gag but even played into the story was quite bizarre. Also I get that people don't like the perv jokes, but his character is way more beyond that

Sanji had a reaaaaally rough time post-TS during Fishman Island. Ever since (which it's been quite a few years now), he's been mostly fine imo.

His time during PH and Dressrosa was good when things turned serious (and even in terms of comedy if we're to ignore the pervy bits, like him commanding the G5 to give Zoro the finger). It's unfortunate that he couldn't do much more than the plot required with Vergo (and obviously, not a single chance against Doffy, so all's good there), but that's something that can also be attributed to most of the SHs beyond Luffy (and Zoro in a way, even though his opponents have been quite shite/non-challenging so far).

WCI has treated him well overall, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the cake plan and it's dissapointing that the only two big fights were Luffy's and the remainming SHs didn't really have a big enough one, but it was, ultimately, a unique arc in terms of structure, not a regular "let's have a 1vs1, guys" one, so it's all good (although, Oda could have used some of those Seducing Woods chapters to do something more but eh). And I guess that I'm a bit sad that I don't really care about his expanded backstory (or not as much as I thought I would), but it was still nice enough and made sense.

As soon as he wears the Raid Suit, I'll throw a fit though.
Pre-TS, Akainu look like a dude that's mad that he's forced to use his vacation days.
Which suits him perfectly tbh.

"There's too much running in One Piece now! It should be like Alabasta where they spend several chapters running to find a bomb!"
