That controller is just pure sex. Really surprised there not selling it outside of the bundle.

There's something really infuriating about seeing YouTube unboxings of this Limited Edition console.

Oh great... so it was already extremely limited and some honest PlayStation fans missed out on a pre-order because of retailer screw ups, but you're sending it to media outlets for FREE instead of letting people spend money on it because they want it. Sorry but this is crazy of Sony to do - they should let these people duke it out with their own money rather than their credentials and their status.

It was already going to completely sell out, so sending it to YouTubers for promotion is absolutely senseless in my opinion.

(for the record, I have a pre-order locked in but it still rubs me the wrong way).
It's unfair if "influencers" get to keep super-limited items, but in the DF video on the previous page, John said this in the comments:

No idea what Sony will do with them afterwards but there can't be that many people keeping them after the review, I've only seen a handful of promotional YT unboxings so far.

So maybe I spoke too soon then.

Maybe these are going to be the units that Sony has said people can win?

Hopefully this starts a trend of colorful translucent consoles and handhelds again.

It scratches real easily and is a fingerprint magnet. Avoid it everyone!
Yeah definitely! You should too LiK! No telling what could happen in the future!

How about this? I'll keep an eye on the links and when they open to sell, I'll tell you guys so that you can make sure NOT to click on purchase! Just to avoid the terrors of fingerprints and scratches! I'll devote my time to keep track.

Please make sure you update me on the availability of this system so that I can make sure to keep the scratch God far away from my cart.

So it's looking like release day it'll go live? All those hours setting my alarm for weird times will finally be over.

If I were loaded with cash, it would be fun to do a giveaway where users need to guess the number on the plate and the closest wins.

the more i look at this one the more its appeal sorta wears off..now im debating this one or the spidey ps4 pro. I really like the look of the spidey controller.

I'm surprised that DF had to send theirs back. I mean what is Sony going to do with it now? It's not like they can repackage it for sale. They probably just let staff take it home or something.

The Spider-Man ps4 pro is still showing in stock at game in the UK, wasn't it sold out at some point or was that the regular ps4?

*Edit* Turns out it's in stock almost everywhere in UK I must have read something wrong somewhere!

I have Distill refreshing the Best Buy and Amazon US links every minute, but I can't do much if/when these systems go up while I'm asleep. It's all dependent on fate right now.

Unfortunately for me I'm going to be going to Arizona and won't be back till like Friday morning. I asked my friend to keep a look out for me on Amazon and Best Buy too so all I can do is hope I get lucky and he's able to snag one for me.

But seriously though we need some sort of miracle to get through this. I'm about to sell my PS4 Pro to get the money for this so if I don't manage to score a console....

So these unboxing videos have been models CUH-7115B and 7116B. For anyone interested, I just learned what those digits signify. Basically,

7 = Pro
1 = newer model
15 / 16 = US / UK regions
B = larger HDD (apparently same for the 1TB and 2TB)

The first number (from left) refers to PS4 model. CUH-1xxx is the PS4 original model, CUH-2xxx is the PS4 slim model, and CUH-7xxx is the PS4 PRO model;

The second number refers to PS4 model released. Starting from 0 to 2, CUH-10xx is the PS4 original first model released, CUH-11xx is the PS4 original second model released, and so on (could indicate to revised hardware of the same model);

The third and fourth numbers are a code that refers to the region PS4 is released for. For example, CUH-xx00 is the model released for Japan, CUH-xx01 is for the U.S. and Canada, and so on;

There is also an 'A' or a 'B' at the end of those numbers, which refers to the hard drive size: A = 500GB, and B = 1000GB (1TB).

So the difference between the models in the question is:

CUH-7115 is the PS4 PRO second model released for North America;

CUH-7116 is the PS4 PRO second model released for the rest of the world; and

CUH-7106 is the PS4 PRO second model released for Southeast Asia

I hate glossy consoles. This thing is so prone to scratches I'm afraid of looking at it for too long, in case my stare scratches it.

When I get mine it will never need to be touched really as going to be in a spacious media unit, going to plug in an external drive and am fully digital. Would an air duster be enough to blow off the dust which will accumulate on the top?
