Start with a few lessons. Practice mainly on getting comfortable around shifting around the frets and learning where everything is on the neck of the guitar. Then work on moving between stings and timing. Due to the game having multiple difficulty levels per section of each song, it's not too daunting to just go into Learn a Song a start playing after a few lessons. It's mainly just going to be a bunch of random notes but it doesn't hurt getting your timing down and starting to get used to not looking down while playing (which is going to take ages but has come in super handy later on). I would 100% recommend buying the pack of original Rocksmith songs (it's like $10) because Black Key's "Next Girl" is a great starter song that you can grind out at full difficulty. Most of the stuff in the game is pretty accessible from day 1 although I would avoid some of the technique games in the guitarcade and mostly just stick with the whale, saloon and ducks off the bat. Try to play every day and don't get down if some things take a long time to click. It's not easy in the beginning but as someone who's learned guitar through the game (I'm still not that good though), it's been a priceless experience.

Wow, what a nice surprise! I figured Wes Montgomery was too jazzy to be in a blues pack, but I won't complain.

Going to skip Back Door Man, but the other two sound fun..

Finally gotta play some bass. I've just been coming home and sleeping a lot. Too much work at the plant. Fingers definitely sore since it'd been too long and I didn't wanna stop.
Felt really slow but to my surprise I hadn't really backslid any on some of the things I had gotten clean with. I wasn't staring at my hands or jumping around a lot to use my pointer finger even though I hadn't practiced for like a week or more due to work. I was still listening and playing without looking on songs and rather than jump around I was keeping my hand in positions and just walking my fingers across frets on all the strings and using all 4 fingers to cover all 4 frets I was positioned at! Huge relief that I hadn't unlearned or gotten that unfamiliar with my instrument after such a huge break for overtime stuff.

Also I had no idea that notes faded out, disappeared and it would say master mode O_O
Was playing Tracy Chapman "fast car", and Magic Wands "Black Magic" and both unlocked that mode. I use Black Magic as a two string warmup for my pinky since its triplets on the 6th and 9th frets on the first two strings the whole song and was pretty pleased that on my pinky song I was pressing firmly enough while transitioning strings now to achieve this without accidently muting any notes.
Also for torture runs since I was sluggish I threw on Offspring Hammerhead, and YES Roundabout. Offspring will wake up sluggish fingers for certain. So damned fast. Also to my surprise Roundabout is not abusing me. It has a LOT of steps on its difficulty and its easing me in slow thankfully (but what the fuck man vibrato slides?) Hit 31% on the song with 75% accuracy on what notes it gave me. Considering its Roundabout I consider it a helluva start.

Overall, very content right now. I was afraid I'd lost all my training from my break. Felt good to play again and I'm glad I picked up the Bass and Rocksmith. Also One Bourbon, One Scotch One Beer is a fun song and I'm glad it was added.

My kingdom for some Miyavi to show up on Rocksmith. Specifically his song "Whats my name"
Dude plays acoustic electric slap on a Taylor and is insane. Found a dude doin a bass cover of this song and I'm in love with it. I'd spend a looooooong time on Riff Repeater for this song but damn would it be worth it.

Currently ZERO tracks exist for this guitar samurai on Custom Forge. I hope this changes someday ;_;

I'm in for that Grateful Dead track and Bowie. Both look pretty fun to play and are good songs to chill too.

Nice. I feel like I should go an request a bunch of tracks but for the life of me I dont know what to ask for aside from a shit load of Gorillaz.
Also what the hell is the official tabs used on Feel Good Inc? The one where you play down on frets 0,2 and 3 or the one where you play on frets 6 thru 9? I've been seeing tabs for both and people arguing over which is the official notation on how its played by the band.

In another country with another Playstation, so even though I don't have my Rocksmith stuff I just got to borrow a friend's bass so I can play even though I never got so good. I wouldn't mind rebuying on PS4, but is there really no hints at a sequel anytime soon?

There was a survey some many months back asking about new features and stuff but they mentioned around E3 that there would be nothing brand new Rocksmith related except DLC for the year (I think).

What's the song if you don't mind me asking?

It's wasn't all that difficult since the solo is basic and all on one string but it was a bit annoying since I'm not ear trained and she uses a delay pedal which made it a bit of a pain to count the notes. I'm planning to do a tab of the whole song since the one on ultimate-guitar is completely wrong.

Getting better. Finally starting to incorporate a lot of neck movement by ear. Starting to get better at 3 finger plucking on bass. Ring finger fights me still and occassionally a different finger takes over but its getting better and it gets easier once i get the rhythm for it. "Two door Cinema Club What You know "is a fantastic track for training this. Fun and bouncy too.

They need more Two Door Cinema Club. Maybe some Phoenix too. Great groups for bassists. Two Door Cinema club do four string play and you will by God learn your pinky and ring finger fretting but if you take em into Riff Repeater you find that the rhythm a lot of times is like a 2 fret spread between one string and the next over. This means your rhythm is usually rocking you fret hand back and forth as as you slide up and down the neck. They got a few tricky transitions between riffs that trip me up plenty but its cleaning up. I HIGHLY recommend Two Door Cinema Club if you want to get better. They're rapidly cleaning up my fretting with all fingers and starting to clean up my playing with each finger dedicated to its own string. Plus they are really fun for guitarists. This track has a 9th fret capo for rhythm chords and the lead stuff is waaaaaay down near the body on the 16 and up frets on the last several strings for most of the song. Lots of fun there.

From Phoenix I usually play Liztomania.

They dont jump strings a lot but they keep a steady rhythm and work up and down the neck a good distance so you get a lot better at slides and navigating the neck cleaner by ear and feel. I think their why I'm starting to clean up now. They make training that skill pretty fun.

For Tremolo I'm resorting to torture. Yes Roundabout. I am nowhere near all the notes in this damned monster yet lol. However its got some tremolo slide stuff near the end and its starting to click by just using it in riff repeater.

Thats all my thoughts from my latest week of sessions. If you're practicing bass please try that Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix stuff. Very good and very fun. Once you get the rhythm on What You know its a blast and it applies to a lot of funky tracks.
