Jared treating almost literally every game he enjoys like it's an 11/10 can't miss classic is getting a little tired lol. The enthusiasm is admirable though.
Someone needs to point out to him, in the same way that he talked about not everyone being able to afford current gen consoles (let alone all the consoles), most people don't have time to play literally every game he thinks is good. I don't have time to play all the new games I want to this fall, so I'm certainly not looking backwards to find every hidden gem he recommends. Not only is he in a job where he's asked to play a lot of games, and his wife supports his doing so, and his entire childhood was filled with doing so, but he also doesn't seem to have many other interests. I rarely hear him talking about which movies he likes, or playing a pickup game of sports with his friends, or building anything that isn't an arcade cabinet, or baking and cooking, or clubbing and dancing, or practicing musical instruments. And there's nothing wrong with that. He doesn't need to be like me where I enjoy illustrating, programming, dancing ballet, playing violin, going out to movies, bar hopping, cooking for friends. None of those make me a better person than him, but they do give me less time to play all the games.
It bums me out to see his name sow such discord. He is, after all, the co-founder of Kinda Funny. His vision lives on in much of what KF does today. I think it doesn't help the gaming community at large that he and his associates are socially ostracized, especially now that he's back in games.
That said, I am ignorant of whatever drama surrounds him and Greg. I also wasn't part of the old site. All I know is there's a reason both he and Danny left: because they both wanted to move on to other projects. I hope they can stop squabbling and continue to serve as positive voices in the industry.
It's not his vision. The closest thing left that you could call influenced by him is the "three and three" at the end of Morning Show segments, but even that rarely actually holds true, and it wasn't his ideal to begin with. Colin didn't like talking to fans, so three and three was his meeting halfway point. Colin isn't a positive voice in the industry. He complains and belittles. If it's not one of his favorite few games then he sneers at it. That's to say nothing of his abhorrent politics.
