If this means Pepsi will launch a Pepsi flavoured syrup for Sodastream then I'm all for it. Getting a cola taste that gets close to "real" Pepsi or Coca Cola has been hard. There was one at one point that tasted exactly like the kind of Coca Cola you get in movie theaters - it was called Premium Cola. Sadly they stopped making it.

So if you bought a sodastream do you have to use their bottles of concentrate stuff? Or can you go to Makro/Costco and buy the official Coca-Cola syrup bags and use those with it?

SodaStream just carbonizes the water. Afterwards you can put in it whatever you want.

It's pretty sweet. We have one and love being able to get fizzy water whenever.

Pepsi doesn't wan't to sell you water - ideally, for them, the aisles of a super market will be full of cans, small bottles, and REALLY small syrup bottles, them shipping you 2L of water with a little (A LOT) of sugar in it, makes no sense, from a logistics / profit perspective.

This technology is a threat - and they'll kill it off (which I doubt)

I've used Soda Club in the past.

Its not worth the money . You're better off buying the soda at a store . Its cheaper .

The taste isn't too bad but it's mostly convenience .Having to buy the CO2 bottles adds up .

Their knock off version of Diet Dr. Pepper was super, super good. And then they just stopped making it. I mostly use Mio/Kool-Aid liquids with mine.

I just buy bottles of carbonated water and add my juices to them. I'd think that's much cheaper, even if it's not EXACTLY the same.

Wow, I never thought the time would come again where I would willingly buy a Pepsi product.

Soda stream are still a thing? I thought it died with the 90s

Nah, it's a big thing these days with the Soda Stream Crystal machines and it's f'n awesome, I don't want to live without it anymore.

Yeah, no. I pay 5-8 bucks for one 60 liter! soda stream carbonation bottle and even if you get your water for maybe 1 buck less in total (lol), not having to buy or carry any bottles at all is even worth an extra charge.

I might share more DNA with a camel than with a bonobo, but I drink about 5L per day... Because of that, I got tired of having dozens of empty bottles laying around...

I solved this problem by buying a SodaStream and it's great. I do like two of their sugarless concentrates: lemon (sort of sprite-ish) and orange/citrus.

If we get some proper Pepsi concentrate I'd be happy (the current sugarless Cola is pretty bad, not undrinkable but generic AF).

I see 1 online costs $30. Where are you getting one for 5-8 bucks?

Between this and Sabra, PepsiCo sure is making big investments in the business of supporting apartheid and illegal settlements. Looking at a list of their products and the only one I remember buying in recent memory is Quaker Oatmeal, which I can live without.

Yup, it is shameful

Do not support apartheid folks

You get one bottle any way with your package, maybe even 2 if you have a good bundle and what you do then is not buying new bottles, you trade the empty ones in at any super market for a new one and that's whats only costs 5-8 bucks. If you buy an extra one, if you want to have 3, 4, 5 at home, yes a single one cost around 30, but you usually trades the empty one for a new one and every super market or partnered store has their own price for that but its under 10 bucks.

Because people are stupid. They mention everywhere that you just carbonate the pure water with it and never with the concentrate because that's freaking dangerous. People aren't reading any manuals these days...

You can trade in your used canisters and you get 50% off the cost. I've never seen them any where for 5 - 8 bucks, just the $15 that is half price. Ofcourse we get ours from bed bath and beyond who always sends us millions of coupons so I usually end up paying like 10 bucks for ours.

every one of these explosion videos/gifs posted are user error....you're supposed to only carbonate the water and then add the flavor after the fact (pretty sure this is clearly spelled out in the instructions, warnings, etc...)

The SodaStream concentrates suck so much. I only use it for carbonised water nowadays. One time I managed to get one of those big boxes of Coca Cola concentrate from McDonalds and it was awesome.

You can get Coke and Dr Pepper syrup from Sam's Club as well, but it always seems like a waste to buy that much. I'd be down for an official Pepsi Soda Stream concentrate.

The energy drink/Red Bull knockoff isn't too bad actually. It's great for making vodka Red Bulls without spending a ton of money on actual Red Bull.

I am surprised it's got value. Seemed like the hype had died down.

I tried it but most of the flavors I tried sucked

Ok that makes sense. I just buy 12 packs of seltzer but this might be better in the long run.

I trade mine in at Target it's like $16 for the big carbenation cannisters and it last me a month or so. I keep two canister at a time that way I can switch them out instead of having to run to Target.

I use Lemon juice/lime juice and any liguid water flavors also work great.

You can get beer at the drive thru?

It's closed container, haha. But yes. Most gas stations around me have drive-thrus and some dedicated drive-thrus sell beer and wine. It's actually very annoying to be going through for a simple pack of smokes and have someone ahead of you getting cases of beer because it takes longer.

Seems to be different in your place then, in Germany it's not "50%" it really is around 5-8€, if you google it, it even seemed to be under 4 a few years ago.

There's good ones. Root beer is good. Dr Pete's is good. But I bought a sodasrream to kick pop habit so unfortunately the natural ones do suck. Doubt Pepsi will help in that area

I love my sodastream but a lot of the syrups are pretty bad. Hopefully Pepsi can help out with that. Especially if we get something like a Pepsi Next syrup, I'll be all over that shit. They could release some of their flavors that are less-loved or widely known as Sodastream syrups as a lower-cost investment than selling trucks of two-liters nationwide or something.

Thinking about this more.... this is crazy. Isn't soda stream whole model is making better soda and soda is bad for you. Then they let a soda company buy them.

The whole model was to make money. They don't care about peoples health. If they did then they wouldn't have sold.

My understanding is that the current CEO has been pushing into the healthy and boutique drinks category.

As much as Coke and Pepsi may want people to stick with the ol sugar water, the truth is that people (millennials?) are moving away from that stuff.

That isn't how business works. It's about making money. The marketing worked on you it seems.
Very aware of making money. I guess we will see where this ends up. I love he product as it worked as intended. So it wasn't just marketing. I guess business is business. That's like subway being bought out by Burger King. I guess they were a new young company and was given an offer they didn't want to refuse.
