100 gems = 3* trash

11 draw = 1/11 Aerith BSB2. It's new, but already have her BSB1 and her BSB2 is way too niche. It doesn't even have a medica cmd either, has some garbage ST buff cmd instead. Ugh.

Oh a d350? I guess I will try it once tonight or tomorrow but I never push much for gil rewards.

Edit: Edited to say the d350 is "uh, ya - no" for me. Especially for a gil reward. I read Shin's post also just now, so I will say they have shown they can make fun fights since the "weapon" fights were well received and are able to somehow make content that is the right mix of difficulty and mechanics. With the magicites we had a lot of fun when 3* first got released and we had fun in January too. Hopefully they get back to that.

It's hard to say if they just decided to see how much they could make off the playerbase if they pushed or if they just wanted to design content t that everybody including the top of the top would be satisfied with.

re: Pushing hard on D??? Jenova

THe simple reason I pushed so hard was because, yes, VII is by far my best realm and VII D??? Torment was the only one I had an excellent chance of beating on release (subsequent sub-30 was a bonus really). I want to say that I don't target VII banners specifically, but I'd be lying to myself: VII is the one realm I've pulled most on since it normally has really good stuff for Cloud or Sephiroth. That said, my actual success on event banners is 50/50 though - actually, almost all of my OP VII stuff have come from non-event banners. I really only pulled on this latest VII banner to get Vincent Chain and Sephiroth USB2/AOSB, none of which have (definite) returns. I just happened to also pull the missing Cloud stuff to turn Super Duper Cloud into God Cloud, which proved invaluable in the Torment, so yay.

Regardless, I do not find these T2 fights fun at all, even with just the two I've done with my two strongest realms (V/VII). With the sheer firepower I have for VII, I should be cruising through the fight. Instead, it took hours to even get a win, and that was with following in the footsteps of others who had beaten it with similar teams (though it would appear that even slight differences - lack of Zack LMR, for example - get magnified at this difficulty, and turns what would otherwise be a smooth fight for one player into an RNG-fest for another). I know these aren't meant to be beaten Day 1, but these fights seemed like they were designed, if not for whales or the insanely lucky (who can barely sub-30 if you have everything), for a level of powercreep that hasn't arrived even 6 months down the line in Japan. These will still be incredibly hard six+ months down the line, and your opportunities to improve at them are few and far between if you don't spend a lot of money. I found one fight to be incredibly exhausting, and they want me to do this 16 more times? Fuck no.

It would be one thing if these were the only things we had to worry about. But in addition to 17 top realm teams, we also have to push towards 16 top element teams. It's ridiculous, especially for F2P players (I'm not F2P anymore since I now spend on 1-2 of the dream selects every fest, though the only relic I used for D??? that was paid for was Tidus LMR on Yuffie). It's like they're trying to squeeze as much out of the playerbase as possible (before shutting it down?). I'm really hoping 4th anniversary brings some sort of massive improvement, either relic powercreep (7* relics please!), character powercreep (MC4! Second RM slot or 3rd LM slot!), or both. Otherwise, I think the game won't make it to year 5.

Apologies for the double post.

After dealing with D??? Jenova, this D350 CM was laughable. D350 Bizarro Sephiroth CM mastered, full medals

CLoud (LM2/LMR): R3 Tornado Strike, R4 Raging Quadstrike, Swd DMG+30% (Glint/USB1/USb2/AOSB), double wind boost
Yuffie (LM2/LMR): R2 Reflecting Pool, R4 Raging Waters, Water DMG+30% (USB2), double water boost
Shelke (LM1_LM2): R3 Entrust, R5 Wrath, Ace Striker
Aerith (LM1+LM2):R2 Hastega, R3 Curada, Mako Might (USB2)
Zack (LM1+LM2): R5 Life Siphon, R4 Ripping Blast, Battleforged (CSB/BSSB), one wind boost

RW: Divine Veil Grimoire

Magicites: Tiamat, Gizamaluk, Kraken, Silver Dragon, Evrae

Slow resists accessories on everyone.

Cloud took out the Right Magic, Yuffie took out the left, overflow AoE damage from Cloud took out the head, Yuffie destroyed the core, and Cloud finished off what was left of the Main Body.

The incoming damage is pretty low, it seems. I didn't kill the arms that quickly - even after I got Cloud Glint+USB online, it took two more turns to kill the Right Magic. Yuffie took a number of turns to kill the left. The whole thing was fairly slow going due to no SB generation from weakness. I actually had to refresh Zack CSB at some point, though it was defeated halfway through the second casting. Also refreshed Wall near the end, though I'm not sure it was necessary. I used Aerith USB2 more to speed up turns than to heal damage, and only used it twice.

This was the same team I used against D??? Jenova, except this time I actually got to use Cloud AOSB, LOL. It was completely unnecessary - sure, it did 700,000 damage to the Main Body, but it was already at 30% at that point.

Yeah that 350 went down to my wind cm team. Lots of imperils flying around. Was terribly innefficient with a few revives of the head. But hey that's a lot of Gil

friz898 thanks for the video! I actually use Gathering storm on Rosa usually anyway, the difference is you're running Curada instead of Wrath. I ran virtually the exact same team except I ran Papa SSB instead of OK mUSB (since I don't have that). You running DMT/MM on Rapha was something I hadn't considered and was a help, and with getting her BSB up ASAP alongside Papa heals and Rosa doing Curada I was actually keeping up on heals okay.

That said I run into the same problem I've had with the other teams I've run in that magicites are reallllly making the difference here, I think maybe more than people with full/good decks at this point realize. Fully buffed my Ashe is doing good damage; my Rapha not so much since I don't have her dived or with a Lightning+ weapon (IIRC your C1 hits were doing ~4200, mine were only doing ~3k) but the C1 Cura is nice. I also deviated a bit in that since I have Ashe's OSB I was doing USB into OSB with her with the bar I was getting from Shelke since the OSB was hitting for a full 99999, whereas her USB comes cumulatively just a bit short of that, and a double Chain Thundaga cast + r5 USB Chase does about 99k buuuut usually was giving me 1 or 2 counters. So the OSB spam was actually really solid. But your deck (as well as most example decks I've seen) are substantially better than mine, which over the course of the fight adds up a lot between both offense and defense. Also in my case I do _not_ have a +50% MAG boostega, only a 30% which again adds up over time. This team suffered almost the exact same fate as my other teams where you're able to finish at say ~35-40 seconds with this setup, but at that point in the fight he's still got say ~25% HP and I start running into resource issues, 2nd RW cast wearing off etc. I ran 3 attempts and every time just barely died at 50-55 seconds with him being at ~5% HP. The extra magicite levels, buffs, 20% difference on my MAG boostega etc all just adds up juuuuuust enough lol.

So I'm honestly glad I know I'm not crazy since I'm watching your video and it's like 1:1 what we're doing except for the changes above, but the extra stats I don't have are the difference. Not sure if I want to keep trying to chip at this one, or go back and start getting more 4* magicite from Ixion and just build a crazy Lightning deck and start inheriting stuff, or just switch to a different 4* altogether or what. I still feel like with my physical lightning options I miiight have better luck there, especially since I know running a 2nd healer with Curaja might be able to do it (I'd lose Rapha's C1 healing but noooot sure if that's a dealbreaker). Maybe a rough equivalent to this team but as physical with: Reks (USB + Protectga/Curaja), TGC (Hailstorm + LS into OSB), Lightning (LS + Thundering Quadstrike + USB/OSB), Shelke (entrustbot), Rosa (Shellga/Curada into USB). I am a bit worried about blind counters running a physical team though, so not sure if I want to try running Ultra Cure instead of Curada, or run both and have Reks use Shellga and just not bring Protectga or what.

Again I do really appreciate the help and video, even if it didn't work quite work for me I got some good takeaways and ideas from it! I also think I'm going to have to take Curada to r5, running this strat I actually ran out of hones with it which has *never* happened for me; I apologize to falk or whoever it was in the discord that I kinda gave crap for taking it to r5 recently lol

Mr. Daravon:

You would't happen to have Eblan Doppelganger, would you?

BTW, why are you starting with Kraken when you have the tools (Bartz/Yuffie/Tidus) to stomp Malirith or Midgardsomr more easily?

Kind of unrelated, but is this still a pretty good resource for 4* inheritance stuff? Obviously 5* is a thing, but looking for a jumping off point if I feel like farming some of the magicites I'm able to currently.

Nope, no Edge USB0 unfortunately. I actually started with Ixion because I have ridiculous earth options (Galuf Chain, Bartz, complete/dived Cinque etc) so once I got 4 copies of those magicites my first thought was to move onto Kraken because of the magicite as well as the fact I have fairly decent Lightning options in general. I'm all for hopping around if I need to though, but that's all there was to it.

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum as far as opinions go. I think a set of super-hard fights that are completely scripted is an interesting endgame because it's essentially a state machine where the randomness essentially boils down to procs, over which you have the ultimate choice of putting into your setup, and which to a large extent average out enough over the course of the fights - which are long - to not end up being that one-run-where-everything-procced golden goose. In that sense, the RNG factor is muted, and while it's still present, it's in a much more diminished role vs (and inherently dependent on) strategy and execution, which you can control, and gacha, which you can't really control.

That RNG actually decreases a little over time as more W-cast USBs come into the fray for a more reliable source of damage, not to mention 6* abilities, better magicite deck loadouts, although in a sorta-morally-rotten way it really does push people into gem-selecting holes in their lineups just due to how hard the tuning is.

edit: On the second part of your post, I don't feel like the 5* magicites are nearly as hard and therefore don't really require the same kind of attention to detail in lineups as the torments. In fact, I would say that 5* magicite releases are an important powercreep for eventually getting within striking distance of a lot of D??? rewards.

The main difference in the way these two endgames are designed. One is meant to be beaten once (50%, clear, sub30, whatever) and is scripted with balls-to-the-walls tuning and honestly some rather clever mechanics to complement the available toolset per realm*. The other is meant to be beaten multiple times, which inherently means a larger headroom between what's mathematically possible with the best gear in the game and the goal state, which also then means more randomness is permissible in the boss's design.

*On this note, I have to reiterate how impressed I am with the tuning of the D??? for what they're intended to be. It's likely very easy to err on too lenient or outright impossible, but they consistently are sub30able with all the tools in the game, beatable with most of the tools in the game, and 50% is a just-out-of-reach-goal-right-now with some of the tools in the game.

The way I'm seeing it, the gaffe with FFXII has more to do with a certain key relic being both new and non-reoccuring (Basch USB2) alongside the fact that FFXII is generally a weaker realm than most in terms of cast (making pulling for and diving characters harder to justify) moreso than the tuning being too difficult holistically speaking with all the tools available in the game. Compare that to TGCid and Bartz being characters a much larger fraction of the playerbase would have pulled for to begin with. In other words, if encounter design was one job and event (+ banner) design was another, the former aced, and the latter messed up as far as FFXII went. Or they both messed up for not being in communication with each other. Or maybe it's one person designing everything and it was just an awful call to see how far people would go to beat content. Whatever.

It was nice to have a super boss be easy to beat after the hell that was Zeromus EG. Bizarro Sephiroth went down with no trouble.

It was also cool to have so many fights to use Cait Sith and his BSB in. I love that goof.

You guys making me feel like I should give the d350 another shot even if not CM. I guess I could, it was late last night. I threw my Torment team at it but maybe an Elarra, Tyro, OK team could do it. I don't know. Probably won't, it is a lot of money but we are all rolling in money again since that's what Magicites give.

MrDaravon i am glad my video wasn't a full waste of time, I didn't play well in that video and it created a 43. I just was ready to move on with what time I had left on a Sunday before this busy week started up for me.

Nah, I cleared FFT with a time of 39.00. ;)

Yeah lol this was my bad.

I was made aware that yourself and Falk have both done FFT and V respectively.

I managed to finally kill the 2 magics in d350 with a CM team.

Sadly this is also when my 2nd Godwall use ran out and I copped a full 9999 to the face promptly afterwards.

Yeah there's no way I can CM

I went into D350 Sephiroth blind, thinking I would try my Torment team and wind AOE everything to death. Whoops. Guess I actually need to read about the fight first.

Well I got Marilith down on my 2nd try just straight up using my Liquid Flame team making one small change LOL. Don't regret my learning experience yesterday though :D. This wound up being a little bit dicey but it seems relatively stable, I swapped in Kraken/Giza on my second run (I'd forgotten I had them from my 2 runs yesterday) and it got me down from 38 to 33 seconds.

-Ramza Shouts, gets RW up then entrusts to make sure Rosa has bar and he can re-up Shout before it wears off
-Bartz LS's into USB1 then EQ spams
-Yuffie does water ninja things until her USB2 is up then further does water ninja things
-Tidus does LS into USB2 then SS spam, gets off an instant BSB2 cast towards the end
-Rosa does Shellga then Curada spam and USB as available/needed

Looking for how to improve and possibly sub-30 without a chain/better magicite. Off the top of my head:

-I keep forgetting I've got Bartz's AOSB as well as his Glint; not sure if either one of those serves him better here, especially since there's no chain buliding involved with this team off his USB1 chase
-Not sure if I might be better off swapping in either Shelke or OK for an entrustbot instead of Bartz (?). I'm not sure how much that would help Tidus necessarily (he's mostly doing damage off SS doublecasts and USB chase), but in addition to her USB2 I also have both of Yuffie's BSB's (one is enWater and one is imperil Water) as well as her AOSB, so might be worth giving her bar to get the imperil Water BSB off into USB2 and then maybe AOSB? Shelke is the better entrustbot, but OK has his BSB which would stack with Ramza's, not sure if that would be worth the tradeoff of those first 3 instacast turns with Shelke though?
-I have Aria's BSB which gives party fire resist, wondering if may actually be possibly be worth it to bring her instead of Rosa?

Edit: I've gotten it down to 31.25 with this same team, I think sub-30 is possible but highly dependent on double cast procs. I've gotten the hang of turns and how to heal, on my last attempt I don't think I even had to give Rosa any meter from Ramza, but he's mostly busy re-casting Shout/RW at a point so he's not contributing much to anyone. I think I might try dropping Bartz for Shelke just to see how it goes, I'm thinking I feed meter to Yuffie to get her Imperil up then into USB2.

In a situation with chain more hits trumps everything since it's quadratic, but I think in your lineup getting Yuffie up and running ASAP would prooooobably be a better frontload than all three (capable, mind you) DPS ramping up their SBs manually. Shelke could do MM and entrust/wrath/entrust to get both your DPS churning out fast.

Ugh that D350 Sephiroth was annoying, but I got my 7 million gil. Cloud on right arm duty, Yuffie on left arm duty. Cait Sith's dances made the incoming damage pretty manageable, but he was dead weight otherwise without his BSB or USB. Aerith with BSB1 could just barely keep up with healing.

Yeah I did a few runs by putting Shelke in place of Bartz, and hilariously I was doing worse because I was awful at managing who was giving who meter and making sure Rosa was ok etc lol. I think on paper it's at least a bit faster but I need to work on it. In theory I guess I would go Yuffie imperil BSB into USB2 then AOSB with any meters past that, then Tidus BSB2 into USB2 (since the BSB2 gives one instacast turn).

Next Producer Letter is coming out on the 30th. :)

Also two Dream Relic Draws (OSB & BSB) and another Wondrous Draw (pool unknown) are coming soon too.

I am trying to think if there are any BSBs out there I would still love to have. I always wanted Edgar BSB for the enPoison to go with his OSB I have. Use to want Edge's BSB but I have Yuffie's who is also fully dove. Plus I don't know how much I would use it over his SSB2.

Off top of my head I can't think of any that I am dying to have. Probably pass on both those. I don't remember what the wondrous relic draw is?

Hmm 2 Bsbs and 1 osb...
Need lmrs and usbs, well specific ones of each

Torment-wise
Dorgann bsb (earth armor and imperil) already ld
Sabin bsb (fire team to add to Terra Locke and celes)
Reks bsb (hastega and lightning, pair with Ashe)

I can skip bsbs for fft, 7,8,4,13 as either I have the bsbs or they won't help, even at the margins.

Then after that set is 15, which will be a rough to sub 30 the 280 difficulty barring unexpected pull luck in the parade.

Osbs, no idea what would be helpful, maybe an elemental in an odd realm or a finisher for say agrias.

That makes more sense. If LMR then I would have to think about it a lot more. Now that I have Tyro, Ramza, and OK LMR I am not sure what I would take.

Maybe one for a Ninja, or Bartz, Cloud, or TGC. Not sure.

His USB2 yes.

The finisher is ASB level damage (and being a USB, it has the benefit of only costing 500sb and useable more than once) while being multihit as well.

His USB1 makes him the premiere Wind Imperil bot, of which Marcus will completely take the crown when he gets his new toys come next IX banner.

Alright. Sounds like I should stay away. Been doing better lately on managing the mythril. Suppose to be holding out for FF6 because I have like 17 relics for that realm where as I have 23-35 for all the other major realms but that banner didn't impress me. Oh well probably still pull on it.

3/11 with one disco - Bartz En-Wind BSSB, Auron BSSB1, Hope OSB (dupe)

So one okay new relic (upgrade to Choco-Romp I guess, and another +10 for Bartz), one lame relic, and one dupe of something I already have a 6++ of. Rather poor result.

3/11 - Cecil USB1 (4th dupe of it), Cecil AOSB (new), Squall USB2 (new)

Cecil's AOSB is whatever, but super happy to get Squall's USB2 if for no other reason it's a native +ice sword which I don't have. Looking at reddit maths his USB2 is largely a sidegrade outside of if you have a Chain up or some other specific scenarios (unlucky with w-casts on the BSB2 etc). Is more hone heavy (obviously) than BSB2. Regardless, still happy just for the stat stick alone.

Mr. Daravon:

Wow, 3 discos? And Squall USB2 is a jackpot. Congrats.

And yes, that 4* magicite guide is still decent. It's somewhat out of date for anyone who's capable of farming 4*s though, because it doesn't take into account impending 5* magicites. The Earth and Holy/Dark decks will still be good for the next six+ months, but the rest will be slowly obsoleted by 5*.

I avoided the Lucky Draw. They're never lucky for me.

I did, however, venture a pull on VII and came away 2/11: Aerith USB2 and Yuffie LMR. I insta-dived Aerith, and Yuffie became even more broken (even if it's just a straight +Atk in most situations).

I may have a shot at the mid-tier (not dWhale) VII torment now. Once I set aside a weekend and try torments, that is.
