Nice list. Hooray for Jinou and Reina making top 3.

Momiji gone too. Guess the next serialization round might be at least 3.

Hello. I'm getting interested in Manga again since pretty much everyone at my new workplace reads 'em, but i honestly have no clue what to get. I've been thinking about Berserk, but always hearing about it going on hiatus is turning me off a bit.
Then there's this Black Torch thing which i dont know anything about, but it has some nice art.
The one that's already locked in for me is Eyeshield 21. Loved the anime and kinda want to go thru it again so i'll import the books. Are there perhaps any Tokusatsu/Kamen Rider-ish Manga?

Hungry Marie (all)

Finally went ahead and actually read all of Hungry Marie. I'm still sort of disappointed that it got the short stick Jump-wise more or less, but I mean at least it was a 4-volume type cancellation rather than a 1 or 2. And honestly, after having read Beelzebub and now this, I can kind of guess that the mangaka likely couldn't have kept up the quality for much longer (as it was already drifting a bit off course, and the first volume is easily the strongest.) Plus it likely would've just drifted into being battle manga if it had a full, hearty run, which again, after reading Beelzebub, feels like it would largely ruin it. That said, still a little grumpy that it and Robot x Laserbeam can't have swapped their lengths, as I really would've loved to seen some more gag chapters playing with the cast, plus an ending with a bit more room to breath.

But I'm honestly no longer super grumpy about it, since as far as Jump series cancelled early go, it actually makes for a nice, solid, condensed little run, and doesn't feel super chopped off at the knees. (Though I would still totally rather have this still running than We Never Learn, since even if I'm not sure the quality could hold up... at least it wouldn't be completely and utterly boring and empty like that series is.)

And thus ends what was actually a pretty long saga of me grumbling about this series getting short-changed, dating all the way back to when the US Jump decided not pick it up!

Aug 2018 Recommendation: Shoujo Apocalypse Adventure [English title: Girls' Last Tour]

DSbep8q.jpg

Sci-fi apocalyptic adventure | 6 volumes, complete work, licensed in English by Yen Press (4 volumes released)

Civilization is dead, but not Chito and Yuuri. Time to hop aboard their beloved Kettenkrad motorbike and wander what's left of the world! Sharing a can of soup or scouting for spare parts might not be the experience they were hoping for, but all in all, life isn't too bad... (source)

From Zweizer:
There is beauty even in a destroyed world.

A good read that I recommend to anyone who's looking for an apocalyptic slice of life. (source)

Some strong hints all over the series that
face dude is her dad.
I realized pretty early but man these hints are making it creepier and creepier

This manga is really really good

You might as well read Berserk because if you just wait until it finishes there's no guarantee it will in the next decade or even more, you'll just forget everything you've read by then anyway. And the current material is more than worth it by itself without the promise of future closure.

Dunno about the others you mentioned, Eyeshield 21 is pretty good

Started reading "Eden, It's an Endless World", and I am positively enamored. I wasn't expecting to find another 90's Nihei, or Hayashida. The world building is off the charts.

Have you people acknowledged the indisputable fact that the best current running manga right now is KINGDOM?

Great artwork, great characters, massive scale, smart characters using smart tactics to outdo one another, and god awesome female characters left, center, and right populating the cast? Oh, and no fanservice whatsoever. Even the great One Piece often can't resist the allure of ridiculous fan service in its pages, but nah, Kingdom aint lowering itself to that level in order to be great.

Different audience, different fan service.

So you get grotesque battles. I'm actually glad the beheadings always look so fake.

Well and authors put in stuff they like as well. For oda that means puttings nami in ridiculous outfits. He even married a nami.

lol

Can't wait for the Chihiro spin off where he, as a 19 year old or so, struggles with both the challenges of his MMA career, and being a single father.

It has been the best for a few years already.

I consider the coalition army arc to be one of the best of all time, only behind Golden Age and some Togashi stuff.

After I heard HxH is coming back after a 5 month hiatus I though to myself "well that was short".

Then I realised I thought a 5 month hiatus was short.

I'll bet my chips on 10 chapters.

So, are we making a bet to see who guesses better how many chapters before the next hiatus?

Loser can read a nice isekai, like Parallel Paradise :P

Losers have to do a group read of one of SEO masterpieces. If they fail to read and post impressions it they must wear a SEO avatar 1 month per number of chapters they were off by.
