Nintendo started sending to retailers promotional material for holidays. Full marketing campaign begins from next week, that's when first rises happen.
Not just Idols, but with lootboxes and microtransactions alsoSo u mean we will get Fire Emblem x Valkyria Chronicles but also with Idols this time?^_^
B2/W2 comparisons don't lead anywhere.
S/M is at 16m with 4m coming from Japan and 12m from west.
US/UM will sell 1,5-2m in Japan which means it will need 4,5-5m from west in order to reach the lowest selling third entry of Crystal at 6,5m. If US collapses as much as UK it doesn't happen. 3DS is already struggling to sell software, there won't be magic legs appearing from nowhere next year.
If situation is similar at west US/UM losing the adult audience, that was the main reason for the rise of brand awareness, can explain the lack of hype and big drop of sales."Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon (including double pack) took 1st and 2nd place as expected. There were many buyers who didn't make a reservation and the users are shifting from adults to children. Star Wars: Battlefront II sales situation cannot be said it was expected. Moreover, Dragon Quest X: 5000-nen no Harukanaru Kokyou e Online ranked from 6th to 8th place and ran out of stock at many places."
There's a little Bamco game called Im@s Platinum Stars that was full priced game with loot boxes. You aren't considering that these games are free to play. Gacha is fine for a FREE game, so the people paying full price for premium games are already running from these practices. The standard for gacha/lootboxes in Japan may already be the F2P mobile games.
Yes, I hope Nintendo and Sega communicate. FE and Valkyria releasing close would be a bad idea.

Cool, they plan to ship >6 million Switch consoles worldwide until FY's end so we should start to see a rise on Japan's weekly sales.Nintendo started sending to retailers promotional material for holidays. Full marketing campaign begins from next week, that's when first rises happen.
Pre-orders are tracking pretty well so far. Should be passing Xenoblade Wii when all is said and done, but XCX was ahead of XC and still capped at 69 so we'll see.Xenoblade 2

To be very fair, Japanese gamers should be really used to P2W and Lootboxes (which is just gacha in a box...Or "Fukubukuro") by now.
Every popular game on the most popular gaming platform in Japan uses it.
I don't think the lootbox is a problem for gamers in Japan? It probably mostly comes down to the last game burning people, IMO.

It'll probably pass both with some room to spare.Pre-orders are tracking pretty well so far. Should be passing Xenoblade Wii when all is said and done, but XCX was ahead of XC and still capped at 69 so we'll see.

It's even worse for Dia Horizon because it was supposed to be their Granblue. Aesthetics, characters and the game itself are all similar, but it was pretty much ignored by everyone - the presence in social media (twitter, pixiv) is embarrassing. They even tried to copy the Kemono Friends anime to get popular, but it's not working. I wonder if SE will try to focus more on spin-offs for their main franchises instead of trying mostly new IP like this year.Quick Square Enix mobile update from their fiscal call:
1.) Their existing mobile games (from before this fiscal year, which started April 2017) are doing exceptionally well and experiencing good growth. Brave Exvius in particular was called out as a major performer overseas as well.
2.) Dragon Quest Rivals is off to a notably strong start.
3.) Mobile licensing revenue is up notably due to the success of Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire and SINoALICE. These games are published by other companies (MachineZone and GREE), which is why they're licensing revenue instead.
4.) Square Enix's other new mobile games from this fiscal year have underperformed. Square Enix is also not super confident in how their other new mobile games coming out this fiscal year will perform. Please note, they're referring to the brand new titles here, not the upcoming Western localizations of existing Japanese mobile games.
5.). Square Enix is very happy with the results of their beta testing initiative in terms of how it's fixed launch issues like bugs and a lack of content. However, they feel they now need to focus on making sure the new games they're making are based around more exciting ideas and are of better quality going forward, and have restructured to do so.

I would agree with their general sentiment. Games like Dia Horizon feel like a joke next to Brave Exvius and Dragon Quest of the Stars, and you can't price differentiate on mobile to cover for that.

Toji no Miko looks good. I hope they don't give up on making new franchises. Sometimes it works. Often it doesn't. Unfortunately they have pretty much given up on making new franchises on console which means we only get one or two a generation. That's pretty much limited to the handhelds too. Did they even do anything new for PS4 yet?

They updated that it wasn't running on the Switch and that the story of them testing an Unreal Engine port for Switch was also not correct. Though that does not mean they wouldn't try and see what they can do with it in regards to that game.
Ah you are right. I kind of think of Tokyo Toy Factory as it's own thing but they are funded and owned by square so they count.I am Setsuna and Lost Sphear. They also have Left Alive, even if it's connected to Front Mission.
That's pretty crazy.Looks like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is off to a strong start.
(second highlighted bit means "Communication error"... yes, servers are being rammed hard right now).
Btw, Animal Crossing is at 248k tweets trending, which is something else. And the official Twitter account is already at 433k followers... really impressive.

Next week is Xenoblade week, there would be an increase either way.So we should finally expect a real increase in Switch stock?
1 week after Black Friday in the west.
The probably prioritized the west for late November shipments, as Japan Holiday sales start later and run later...
It's a matter of time before Battlefront II joins bomba bins, retailers didn't expect so big drop, Explorer's Edition will give Breath of the Wild a bump this week even if Switch shipments remain steady.
Thanks for the post again!Given Square Enix's full statement on their Switch plans going forward, here's an updated look at the Switch third-party landscape in Japan.

There is no reason to be tracked seperately, it's the same game.Oh right, forgot about the Explorer's Edition. It's going to be tracked separately, though, isn't it?

When looking at Spike Chunsoft's section, I only see two 'None's. That's disappointing of course, but I was thinking about what SC has put out recently, and it isn't a lot... They have Danganronpa V3, Fire Pro Wrestling World (on Steam Early Access only), and the PS4/PSV versions of the Zero Escape trilogy. Right now, afaik, they only have one game announced, which is Zanki Zero for PS4/PSV with TBA release date. So they don't have much anyway. They could've made a quick buck by releasing the Zero Escape trilogy on Switch too. There's definitely some money in ports of the Danganronpa games, like they did to PS4, but besides that, they don't have much to give.
I expect a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game next year, so that's something, I guess. I wonder what their vision for the future is, and how healthy they are financially. Output, announced upcoming releases, and buzz/media activity is very low.
