DHC-Shannow has inspired me following a recent comment in the GT Sport OT. Here's my idea to combat the BOP shenanigans:
Each individual picks a manufacturer at the start of the season
The races will alternate between GR3 and GR4 throughout the season
No manufacturers will be banned
At the mid point of the season you can swap manufacturer if you wish
The logic behind this is simple. Sometimes the GR4 for a certain manufacturer might be OP but that is usually balanced out by the GR3 car being average/difficult/poor. Second reason is that it should please everybody as some people want GR3 and others GR4.
Honestly... based on the FIA manufacters series I'm starting to think PD might first look to balance BOP for manufacturers overall rather than individual cars within their classes...
Ferrari won the FIA Manufacturer cup for season 1 in the Americas, which is the same format as what we're doing (alternate GR3 & 4, endurance events with fuel and tyre wear) - Nissan & Citroen won the other 2 regions.
I'm not sure if the final ranking is just based on driver position, so if an exceptional driver is driving the Dodge and wins then is that manufacturers result based purely on that? And yeah if that car is then nerfed when most of us mortals can't drive it at anything like that pace then it's not great. Their BoP tweaks have seemed strange a lot of times so you do wonder if they're basing it on what the top few can do with the car rather than everyone else.
Hey guys, when do you tend to race? Is it set days/times? Or is it down to a schedule for the season? Potentially interested in joining given there's space and that the timings work out.

Hello buddy we race on a Sunday night. We'll be resuming the league in September and it'll be from 8pm GMT. GHG is the guy that organises it all and he'll be putting something out soon so you can sign up. Hope you can make it!
In case you haven't read the thread, this season we're looking at alternating between GR3 and GR4 so try to find a manufacturer you like to use before the start of the season - welcome aboard :-)
It won't be fixed. Those are just races to spam over and over again in order to earn credits to buy cars. Id imagine the thought process goes something like "What's the point in indicating you've completed it if we expect you to repeat them multiple times"
Yep they will go up this week since I've got some time at the moment.
Just got back from spending a couple of weeks in Spain, planned to get them up before I went but was bogged down in finishing off a few projects for work which had to take priority for obvious reasons.
In other news I'm thinking about the following schedule for the next season (dates to be agreed):
So one of each track type (power, handling, balanced) for each category we will run (GR3 and GR4). Hopefully that helps people in testing various manufacturers. Fuel (starting fuel tbc but it won't be a full tank) and tire wear (no supersofts, only hard through to soft racing tires) will be on of course along with light damage and manual grid starts so also factor those things in.
I'll be jumping on tonight to have a play around with various cars and wear settings in an online lobby on the red bull ring so feel free to join me.
Sounds good GHG but I'm not a fan of Alsace, nor reversed layouts—but I'm not going to complain otherwise, as I'll get involved with anything you put up.

If people object then all tracks with the exception of the first 3 (because we have never raced them as a group before) can be changed. Ideally I'd like to stick to having one track type of each though to make sure it stays as balanced as possible (e.g. We don't want a scenario where the power cars have a significant advantage).
I've got a server up now with settings that we will likely run for the first race at RBR. I'll be hopping on and off throughout the day to test GT3 cars in between working.
Yeah, it's rare that I like a reverse track. I'm also not a huge fan of DT Gardens. I don't mind doing repeats of previous tracks.
And I agree with Shannow, Alsace is fantastic. :) (and not at all because it was my best placement in league history)
I'm curious... Has anyone actually driven Alsace reverse before writing it off? I'd argue it's more fun in reverse than it is the normal way round. Not my video but this guy drives it well enough to give you an idea:
You guys need to trust me sometimes, all the track configs I've suggested have been tested with the car classes we will run ;)
All are welcome in the league bud - GHG will put up an entry form in a while so you just fill that in and as long as you can make most if not all of the races then you should be in. Just make sure you allow some time to do practices before the events as it makes a hell of a difference if you know what your fuel and tyre strategy is going to be rather than winging it.
Yes there will definitely be some space judging by the numbers we had last season. The sign up will go up soon so keep an eye out for it. I will mention you in a post when it does.
The new Saint Croix B circuit is infinately better in reverse.
I know people are fond of tracks like Brands Hatch and Bathurst (I am too) but the biggest thing about these events is how tracks are to actually race on. Alscase is nice and wide, so that means overtaking opportunities and more importantly space to go round somebody if they make a mistake.
The new season will have reverse qualifying grids, light damage, ghosting off and car resets off so it's important that the tracks are wide enough so that overtakes are possible and so that someone making a mistake (or rejoining) doesn't cause chaos.
It becomes less about "do I like this track" and more about "can we have fun close races on this track".
Anyway, I'll be opening a lobby at RBR for some GR3 testing soon, feel free to join me.
Would anyone have any objections to Lake Maggiore on the GR4 schedule?
I'm looking at finalising everything at the moment and testing threw up a couple of curveballs (Yamagiwa + Miyabi is actually more of a "handling" circuit than it is a balanced one and saint croix B is more of a "balanced" circuit better suited to GR3 cars than it is GR4 due to track length/average lap time). So we would be looking at the following:
Week 1 - Red Bull Ring: GT3
Week 2 - Dragon Trail Gardens: GT4
Week 3 - Sainte Croix B Reverse: GT3
Week 4 - Suzuka: GT4
Week 5 - Lake Maggiore: GT4
Week 6 - Yamagiwa + Miyabi Reverse: GT3
Sorry for the lack of democracy as far as track selection goes but it's because each track requires slightly different tire/fuel settings in order to keep things consistent (in terms of the amount of time each tire compound lasts) throughout the season. So I'd like to get the settings sorted early so that people have a couple of weeks to be able to test various manufacturers in the conditions we will be running the races in. That way there will be no nasty surprises.
I'm also considering outright banning both Ford and Renault for the following reasons (I'd like to know if anyone has any objections):
It goes without saying that the Ford GT and the Megane are ridiculously OP in their respective classes
The unbalanced schedule due to it being 6 weeks. The second half of the season has more GT4 races and the first half has more GT3 races. Hypothetically you could select Ford for the first half of the season and the Renault for the second part and suffer minimal penalty...
Failing that, we could have it whereby if you select either Ford or Renault for the start of the season you are effectively "locked in" for the whole season and will not be able to switch manufacter at the mid point of the season.
Thoughts?
I hope to have everything up (including the final standings from last season lol...) tomorrow which will give everyone who wishes to participate 2 weeks to test/select a manufacturer.
That all looks great to me bud :-) I've no objections to Lake Maggiore, another of my favourite circuits :-)
As for banning For & Renault, I'm ok with maintaining the free choice and letting people do it if they like. The Megane Trophy is great on twisty circuits but completely lost on power tracks. I've only tried the GT once but found it a real handful on Bathurst, those superstars really deserve the name.

Okay having never driven RBR can some give me a reasonable target time to aim for in a Gr.3 car? Any idea yet what date were looking to kick the season off again I havent been on at all really since the last update so very out of practice!
A 6 week endurance race series with a few notable twists:
3 weeks of GR3, 3 weeks of GR4
You select a manufacturer at the start of the season and need to stick with that manufacturer throughout the course of the season
With the exception of those who select Ford or Renault, there is a single opportunity to switch manufacturers at the mid point of the season (between race 3 and 4)
15 minutes Qualifying
50 minute races with reverse grid starts (the person who qualifies last is on pole)
50l of fuel at the start of the race
3 tire options (Soft, Medium, Hard)
When is it?:
Starting on the 16th September 2018 - Every Sunday at 7:55 UK Time. The sessions will last about an hour in total.
How do I participate?:
Quote this post to see the sign up form at the bottom or PM me for the link. There are a total of 16 grid slots available. Priority will be given to those who state they are able to make all or the majority of races. After that priority will be given to those who have taken part in previous GT-Era events (Endurance series). There is also the option to sign up as a reserve driver if you wish which will enable you to be alerted on a weekly basis should a slot become available.
SCHEDULE:
Soft Tyres: Estimated life - 10 minutes. Suitable for qualifying and short stints. Medium Tyres: Estimated life - 15 minutes. Suitable for medium length stints. Hard Tyres: Estimated life - 20 minutes. Suitable for longer stints.
Rules and Guidelines
The Manufacturer you select for the first race of the season is the manufacturer you have to stick with until the manufacturer transfer window opens between races 3 and 4.
If your selected manufacturer has more than one GR3 or GR4 car option (e.g. Lexus for GR3 and Renault for GR4) then you need to select one of the cars and stick with it. You cannot jump between cars within the same class category from race to race
If you select Renault or Ford at the start you are NOT eligible for a manufacturer transfer, you must stick with that manufacturer for the duration of the 6 weeks.
Between race weeks 3 and 4 if you wish to switch manufacturer you must announce your decision by posting in this thread prior to the GR4 race at Suzuka

Race clean - Battle for positions but be fair :)
If you cause a collision that causes one or more other car(s) to lose control or go off track concede those positions prior to resuming your own race
If you leave the track be careful when rejoining
When on your out or in lap during qualifying be aware of your surroundings on the track and try your best to stay off the racing line.
Have fun :)
Qualifying:
Make sure you are on the track, not in the pause menu and past the first sector prior to the race countdown starting. Qualifying times not registering tend to involve one of those factors.
Avoid using the pause button while out on the track for prolonged periods of time. This can cause disruption to other drivers who are on their hot lap as the CPU will auto drive your car slowly along the racing line. Park your car on the side of the track without pausing or exit the track.
When we get towards the end of qualifying everyone take a screenshot so that I will be able to see where you finished up on the qualifying standings in the event that the game does not register your qualifying position correctly. I will send a message in game when qualifying is over and allow everyone around 30 seconds to grab a screenshot before starting the race countdown.
General & Bug Guidelines:
Races are grid start - be ready :)
In the event of experiencing a bug such as not being able to move off the grid at the start of the race or not being able to see other drivers send an in game message immediately.
Everyone will then be instructed to exit the race and return back to the lobby screen
You (and anyone else who experiences any issues) should exit the lobby completely and rejoin ASAP
Everyone then needs to reenter and go to track IN ORDER OF QUALIFICATION.
The race will then restart
SIGNUP:
All skill levels welcome.

I'll update the OP with the details in the post above in due course. If I missed anything or anything doesn't make sense let me know :)
I will also try to share a google spreadsheets link with you guys who participated last season with the final results tomorrow. I fucked up massively doing the calculations today and will have to start again. I don't have the stomach to sit and go through all the race results and put them into a spreadsheet again right now so it will have to wait a day...
