Couldn't care less who they cast, or what ethnicity, so long as they are decent at acting.

That being said, considering the uproar when things are flipped the other way and roles get whitewashed, I can't imagine this being any less of a shitstorm. No one ever takes well to a character's ethnicity being changed.

Hope the chosen actress is prepared and informed.

Interesting. So it's going to be based on the books, not the games, but they're willing to make changes like this and risk upsetting the fanbase? Awesome. More interested in the casting than I ever was before. Maybe we get a BAME Yen as well. This thing can't release soon enough for me.

I'm fine with it honestly. If this means the series will take more liberties from the source material, I'm all in. There's too much to be done in a single season.

Well, it is comparable in that it's a character's ethnicity being changed - and only in that sense. I used the whitewashing example as I see it in the news more (thankfully so).

Hopefully everyone understands that the original author supports this change and it's a non-issue, but I don't expect that at all. Fingers crossed we never see any complaints, especially about such a young actress!
