I can't believe this is the same studio that made Halo 2 and Halo 3. They seriously don't understand their fanbase or their own game. At this point, I'm convinced they don't care. No dev is this tone deaf and oblivious towards what their players want. It's truly amazing.

The game will get better. But fuck me, there's absolutely no excuse for why it's in it's current state. None.

I agree, but Bungie doesn't do that. They like to tell the player the bare minimum and let them find things on their own, always been the case.
It's an awful policy. The "secrecy" around Heroic triggers is probably the apex of mechanical obfuscation I've seen come out of a AAA developer. Anyone who cares will Google it, anyone who doesn't care enough won't, and risks screwing up the event for all the other players. It's just bad, bad design.

Stupid thread honestly.

Sorry, Destiny isn't a walking simulator. I want substance. I want context and purpose. A reason to be where I am besides looking at shit. I want to PLAY my video game, not passively watch it like a movie. Christ...

An open world game like Zelda BotW is fun to explore because of the variety of things you can do in all of its locations. It wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable if it didn't have the amazing physics, combat and crafting systems it has.

Video games are interactive. They're about DOING things. If there's nothing to do, and doing things aren't engaging, what's the point?

Also the "hurrr I'm an adult" thing is such condescending bullshit. Most of us are adults with real world obligations too. Yes, some of us have more free time. It's not my fault you have three kids and can't play every day. I hate this notion that everything needs to be consumed in bite sized 15 minute sessions without commitment or obligation. Somehow, it's a bad thing that some things require time and effort.

What's with people crouching like crazy while getting shot in the Crucible? I get that they're trying to throw off my aim, but it doesn't work. I'm still going to kill you. The only difference is that you'll die looking ridiculous.

Almost related, but I really like the Older Sister hand cannon. I've been running a pulse/hand cannon combo in Crucible and it feels nice.

You seem bitter. It's not a bad thing when some activities require time and effort, but it's also not impossible to enjoy video games for reasons outside of their main objective. I like having stuff to do, too, but I also like wandering around and see what I can see.

That sucks for PC players, who have to get 10 in 1 week. I mean, if you don't like PVP. :P

It was definitely shitting of them, but it's doable. I played last night until I got all my challenges done and I got three packages. If you knock out the challenges everyday you can do it.

They should have gave PC players extra tokens or something since we get a week less than console players.

I guess, it barely matters though since the type of player who would actually care about the reward (one crappy emblem) is also probably the type that wouldn't mind getting 10 packages in 1 week. Not even a good looking emblem at that...

Kinda wish a loss was 3 tokens at least though, then you would only need to do the 3 challenges and 2 losses for a turnin. But I can see why losses aren't more rewarding or it would encourage teams going in throwing games as fast as possible for optimal token farming hah.

Does anyone know if Tess has ever sold the spicy ramen exotic emote? I don't know why but I want that damn thing so bad. Getting one to drop by the 5th might be kinda tough as I'm pretty sure it's all RNG. Absolutely refuse to spend money on bright engrams though the only time I've spent money on cosmetics was in HOTS I bought the bikini Stitches skin that came with a Stitches plushy.. Zero regrets on that one

Shouldn't the challenge be really hard since you're basically one-plating per phase, and lacking the rift/rally support on most of them? So even a 2-phase kill would be equivalent to a 2-plate kill.
Have I totally misunderstood the mechanics for keeping the plates active? Or are people really so good that they regularly kill Callus on the second plate?

Also, pyramidion with torrent...again?
I guess we've seen all the NF modifier combos now and they're just recycling them.
Osiris will have to bring some major additions or people will be done by Christmas. In my 100-member clan, I haven't seen anyone online in my last 3 play sessions (okay, my time zone is Europe and most are US but there used to be at least 5 or 6 guys around).

Yeah this confuses me. My group already needs 2 phases and all 4 plates each time. wtf are we doing wrong? haha

My second and third runs, we beat challenge, on Prestige, in two phases. Everyone was using rockets (Sins of the Past or Curtain Call). On the third run, we had three Titans, two Hunters and one Warlock. The Hunters used golden gun with Celestial Nighthawk, the Titans popped rally barricade and used double pulse grenades and the Warlock had empowering rift plus pulse grenades as well.

I was one of the Hunters. I was on the Sun plate along with a Titan and the Warlock. I popped golden gun and used the rally barricade to quickly fire six rockets. All but one plate had a Titan. The one that didn't (Dog) was the other Hunter, also running golden gun. In one phase, we got Calus down to almost 1/3 health. I believe we had around 80 (or more?) stacks for force of will. If someone dies in throne room, during the skull phase, more skulls spawn in the dark zone until that person is revived.

I laughed out loud when I discovered that the reward from the IB 10 packages is just an icon

Atmosphere in game worlds is perfectly fine and a very valid gameplay element to have, hell you WANT interesting landscapes to entertain your players or else they'll just focus on the numbers and get bored. Destiny has beautiful areas on all the planets, and you most certainly can take the time to appreciate them, but you can also still want actual content that keeps you interested because at the end of the day both are going to need to be in the game for it to be good. Saying that Destiny 2 is okay because it has nice planets so shut up and stop whining is condescending and ignoring the content issues, an almost goal shifting element many are doing right now on Reddit.

Good games to the guys I played with. Pretty smooth IB matches there. Got nothing but duplicates, but hey, I had fun.

It is kinda funny, Destiny 2 is the first game I've ever played where players are constantly arguing that they want MORE RNG. Every single time the token system comes up, people rage about it, but in essence, the token system and the RNG drop system are the exact same, except with the token system being a more normal distribution. For example, if in cruicble or raid you got a drop 25% of the time or got 5 tokens (20 per turnin) both of those would result in an item every 4 matches. Only difference is the former gives higher variance where you can get lucky or unlucky and the latter flattens the curve with a reward exactly every X games. Everyone calls out the token system as the worst thing ever and they want raid/cruicble drops back but it would literally change nothing, the issue is the number of tokens needed for a turnin not the token system itself. In WoW's most recent expansion, the main criticism of the new legendary system was that it was random, and you would just always hope for a drop. Everyone said the whole time they wanted a system where you could just get tokens for every thing you did and buy a random legendary after some amount of time, the exact opposite argument. I guess players are just never happy. Destiny 2 has a lot of issues with endgame, but token system isn't one of them in my opinion, and the community is wasting its time railing against something that, if removed, won't even help the real issue.

Now I personally agree that token rewards feel "less epic" than drops, but still every other game I've played the argument has gone in the other direction. I personally would prefer a system with X% loot chance drop with token rewards every Y games, balanced to be the same total drops, so you felt lucky sometimes but had tokens as backup to protect against the worst luck.

Also, I WANT RANDOM ROLLS BACK, so I'm not against RNG. It is just funny to me that I've played many games in the past with people complaining about too much RNG and people saying "if you didn't have it you'd be complaining things are too boring" and D2 is the first game I've played where people are actually complaining that they want MORE RNG (as I do), just shows those people in the past were actually right, no one is ever happy (until an actual happy medium is reached).

Most of people saying this could be found on the old forum 2014-2016 posting about how the "double RNG" for gear in D1 was literally cancer.

Yea I was always in the camp when people discussed WoW issues that "vocal minority will never be happy", but it is definitely interesting to see the complete opposite perspective from usual in these arguments. I always thought a happy medium was best, but everyone always seems to see it as "current system is cancer, radically opposite alternative is best" until that alternative is implemented then they want the other radical extreme. I just want a midpoint with RNG loot drops and the option to buy specific loot with a ton of tokens to offset really bad RNG, is that too much to ask? Like, keep strike drops but after 10 strikes you can buy a Curtain Call if it still hasn't dropped.

Until they get the same exotic 3 engrams in a row.

I definitely like the token system, and having static stats on weapons. Grinding for ages for something with no tangible progress just plain sucks. And it's not like tokens don't come with RNG, I'm rank 54 on Io according to DIM because I wanted a single piece of gear and it took forever to show up. If I'd gotten a bad stat roll when it finally dropped I would've just quit the game for good. The huge possible loot pools for all engrams just makes "double RNG" an impossible idea in Destiny 2. It would be too awful.

Damn, I'm decent at stringing together kills, but that double kill eludes me. Got 3 yesterday, just trying to get that last double kill for today taking forever!

The token system is just the scapegoat for the bigger problem.

The entire economy is "broken" and does not incentivize long play.

I don´t know if I have ever seen a legendary engram in the wild in the first year of D1. Let alone exotic..

Currently the drop rates are too high.

Impossible to be excited when you see a legendary as it is.

And Exotics should be "scream into your headset moments".

Not sure if that will every be "fixed", because I´m not sure that Bungie cares about me (or us) or if they even see it as a problem.

Maybe they have numbers indicating that they are on the right track.

Good for them - sucks for me.

Right now with this and many, many other annoyances (double primaries will never not suck) I´m mostly sad that my favorite thing is going away.

And bummed that I bought the season pass naively thinking D2 would be a sequel to the game I loved.

Noob question about PVP: should I shoot with Energetic weapons or Kinetic? If they have the same damage, should I just go with energetic?

v1perz53

Energy weapons only have the advantage while shooting an enemy in their super as long as your energy element corresponds to that super.

For instance, shooting a Stormcaller in super with an Arc energy weapon.

Don't have an exact link but this has been disproven by a few youtube videos that show the same damage numbers against all supers with an energy weapon of varying elements. That was the original intent that Bungie seems to have had, but seems to have been scrapped, and now all energy weapons do increased damage to supers, regardless of element. Kinetic does "more" damage to non-supers.

In the end against non-super enemies the damage isn't that different. Using what you want in general will be basically the same, but it is useful to switch to any energy weapon against enemy supers because the damage reduction makes damage differences actually make a difference.

For some reason I go stupid when I see someone super.

I can take him bymysel...dead every time, not sure why false heroics I guess.
