Looks like we will be adding at least 2 teams. I will add them today/tonight to the league file and we will push back the opening day sim a day or two so people can make their opening day roster choices on their own.

Added MegaTiki and Drek to the league as Astros and Red Sox, respectively. If you guys need help opening the league file, let me know and I'll send you a quick-join link.

For our new players, If you loaded into the league, you should be able to select your names from the GM list on load up. We are on opening day, and you guys need to make some roster decision to get your active roster down to 25 men. Upon doing that, I need you to export your team file. If you're not sure where that is, just ask.

Eudor Garcia destroyed his old team in the opening series.

My offense might be decent this season. Starting pitching still trash hopefully the bullpen can make it for it.

brentech just a reminder to update the OP with the new managers... I find it useful when I am figuring out what teams to look at for potential trades

Edit: lol, Astros lose a pitcher for the season in the new manager's first sim. Welcome to OOTP baseball MegaTiki

I also lost another for 3 months, ootp hitting hard right off the bat. It's all good, the main headache is sorting out this AI run farm system that I've inherited x.x

If someone is looking for a low cost 1B/DH I'm up for moving one of Sam Travis/Josh Ockimey, namely looking for a back of the rotation starter or AA/AAA pitching depth.

ThatSportsGamer As commissioner, one of the things I would like to see is other GMs being able to initiate or accept trades to/from CPU controlled teams....and possibly each other, but I believe that would be harder to deal with.
Since we aren't a full league, it's time consuming as commissioner to deal with a bunch of "try this trade" with cpu requests.

Finally got an upload in. Not a great offseason but hopefully I get some improvement from within. Just need Trout to carry me.

Maybe something where we could do the three trade searches ourselves, if we get a trade assembled we like it gets submitted to the commissioner for approval/disapproval, with an understanding for anyone trying to do a Player to CPU trade that it'll likely be 1-2 sims before it goes final, and just slow down for the trade deadline to one day sims.

The game already has a process for the CPU to "consider" a trade instead of just making it on the spot. Sure, they almost always end up refusing those trade proposals, but the logic on how to stall a trade pending approval is already there, it just needs to route through commissioner sign-off instead of the AI thumbs up/thumbs down.

Then we could all spend our time doing player shops on our own and commissioners would only see a trade that the player and CPU effectively agree to, for a "not abusing the AI" review.

Indians roster is now in full fire sale status. I give up. Best pitcher can't play ball on this team for some reason. Goodbye Kluber, lets move everyone!

Hi everyone! Happy that my first post here is in the OOTP thread!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for being the best community in the world. We would be nowhere if it weren't for you.

And, to echo T.J. our Community Manager, please keep the thoughts and feedback coming. We are listening. We're small but we have big dreams and they all center around making the best baseball experience in the world.

And finally, brentech, don't forget to send me the bill for your online league hosting fees next time they're due. :-)

The last couple sims have been decent. If my starting pitching wasn't the worst ever my team would be pretty good.

Boy it would be nice if Bauers, who is ostensibly my biggest offensive star, got his act together and started hitting. I hope he didn't peak at age 23. That would be disappointing.

Indians need to move players. While they creep closer to getting back to 500, injuries are really stacking up. Just lost Andrew Miller for another 4 months after missing last season. Take a look at my roster, let me know if you're interested in someone. Need to restock the system.

Weird, I can't see anywhere to make my draft list. I can see the "Draft Rules", Continue Draft, Draft Order, and Draft Log, but can't find anywhere to see the players available or anything.

Notes: 2 more sims and we should hit International Free Agent period.

Indians season update: The year started off about as bad as it could. Team played poorly, I had 6 major injuries, lost Andrew Miller for the season (back to back years). Because of all the injuries, I decided to send guys up and down more than I normally would, and it has worked out. Team has been putting wins together and the young guys I have brought up have played well or pushed the vets.

I have a 22yo RP that has pitched 30 innings now, into a 3.30ERA. Kluber isn't playing great, but is finally working his way back from a 8+ ERA, back down into the 5.0 area. Trending good.

Decided to just play the best guys instead of the guys most suited for the role. Plugged Jose Ramirez into 1B since my normal 1B was struggling and Ramirez has run away with it. I also brought in more youth to the infield and they've been doing very well. Season may still be a wash, but a positive sign.

Brent reminded me that we have this thread, so here is a bit about the Seattle Mariners so far!

Buoyed by the bat of rookie phenom Joe Rizzo (.950 OPS, 158 wRC+), the Seattle Mariners are 35-34 and sit in second place in the AL West and just a half game back of an AL Wild Card spot. The Mariners are a fantastic 22-15 at the friendly confines of Safeco field, but a drastic 13-19 on the road. They've also struggled in 1 run games to the tune of 11-9 as the bullpen has struggled beyond the team's top two relievers Edwin Diaz (171 ERA+, 12 saves) and Dan Altavilla (187 ERA+). The rotation has held its own despite a subpar performance from Ace Cheol-chung Kym (92 ERA+), and the demotion of #2 starter James Paxton (6.84 ERA/127 ERA+) to the bullpen. Max Povse (3.13 FIP/165 ERA+ 2 CGSO with 9 K 0 BB) might be one of the breakout pitching stars in the AL so far. The team recently called up prospect Bryson Brigman from AAA Tacoma in an attempt to get some more offense out of a sagging middle infield. Brigman had an OPS over .969 in AAA.

Elsewhere on the farm, the Mariners #1 overall draft pick and the #1 pitching prospect in the draft according to the OSA, Josh Gann made his debut in AA this past sim. While his first start was a bit rough, the knuckleballer had a 5 hit CGSO in his second appearance. Given his age and primary pitch, Mariners officials are hopeful that the Central Florida prospect can move up the ranks quickly.

The Mariners signed all but one of their draft picks, allowing 32nd rounder Chris Absher the chance to go to college instead. All told the Mariners brought in 5 players with 70+ potential, and 2 more in the 60-69 range. Aside from Gann the rest of the picks will begin their season with Seattle's AZL affiliate.

In injury news the team lost top prospect Chris Sorrell for 5 weeks to a PCL strain. Sorrell had just made his season debut with Low A Clinton.

I'm liking this writing about our teams thing. I'm gonna have to add mine :)

I saw there's a way to write news and stuff in the game but I don't know if the commissioner sees them or what when doing sims.

To date the 2020 Boston Red Sox have been a mercurial lot, prone to taring off 6 wins out of 7, only to follow with a the opposite level of failure. As it stands 69 games into the season Boston stands at one game above .500 in a three-way tie for 3rd in the Wild Card race with Bluemax' Mariners and Brentech's Indians.

The guiding forces of the 2020 season to date have been Andrew Benintendi, Xander Bogaerts, and Rafael Devers on offense, while Yohander Mendez and a solid bullpen headed by a still dominant Craig Kimbrel have been carrying much of the pitching load.

Benintendi in particular stands out as he is 1st in BA, 2nd in OBP, 2nd in SLG, and 1st in OPS, coupled with solid defense he is leading the league with a 4.3 WAR.

Bogaerts is no slouch, trailing only Corey Seager for WAR by a SS at 3.1, his .318/.387/.536 slash line has him on-pace for a career year at the age of 27.

Mendez is looking like fantastic return on the last season of Jackie Bradley's controlled years, posting a 3.14 ERA and an ERA+ of 153.

The recent bounce back from the team is largely a product of Paul Goldschmidt, the Sox big FA signing this past winter, finding his swing in June. April and May saw him post a cumulative .763 OPS but now sports an OPS of .843 after 17 games in June that saw him amass 22 hits, 11 walks, and 4 of his 9 homers, putting the monthly line to date at a 1.072 OPS.

Outside of Mendez and Goldschmidt however the Red Sox have not fared so well in the free agent market. Following a hot first few weeks Khris Davis has fallen into a prolonged slump. Mark Trumbo, capable of consecutive .875 OPS seasons for Baltimore the last two years, has also seen an inability to make contact derail his power production. Logan Forsythe, a stopgap 2B measure to hedge against Pedroia's decline, has also failed to give consistent production at the plate.

Boston's first draft under new GM leadership (and short a first round pick) focused on filling the pitching depth missing throughout the club's minor leagues by adding two >70 rated pitchers by both OSA and Boston's in-house scouting as well as a third later round pitcher with a mid-50's OSA score and a mid-60's in-house score. Coupled with the return of 2019 first round pick Talbot Drier from rotator cuff surgery and an recent scouting discovery Sergio Flores the Sox are poised to see a wave of low minors pitching depth come through the farm over the next few years.

Just this week the club has decided to make some positional changes, waiving all-glove catcher Roberto Pena to bring up veteran Devin Mesoraco to team with utility man Blake Swihart, as well as moving Benintendi back to LF where he should provide elite defense and inserting defensive specialist Albert Almora into the every day lineup in an attempt to combat the high BABIP exhibited by all non-groundball pitchers on the club and the 12th place AL rank in fielding efficiency.

The club is still waiting on the return of top position prospect Nick Donnelly from a broken knee cap, expected to take another 2 months to heal, and is waiting on the returns of Avisail Garcia and Josh Ockimey to pick up the bottom half of the lineup.

Boston is still playing at a -2 differential from their pythag. score but has stabilized well in this area. As such the Sox plan to play out the next few weeks before making a buy/sell determination on any major moves but would have interest in low cost outfielders and groundball focused pitchers if anyone has someone they're looking to give a change of scenery to.

Unfortunately, I don't see anything like that.
I could probably add it as a news item if someone really wanted and PMed me here or on Discord.

I don't have a lot of time to fiddle with my team, but on the days that I do, it's good to hear what is happening with other teams. Barely have time to focus on my own, so I don't really do that from inside the game. Fun to see other people's interesting factoids/stats.

Yeah, apologies, didn't realize how big that text block was until I loaded this thread up in my phone.

TLDR: Beni and Bogey are beasts.
