Another Inbox update... with no X support.

Guess my search for a new mail client begins.

What do y'all recommend besides Spark which was mentioned a bunch and is already installed.

Going to try out spark and that one suggested in the previous page. Main things I'd like are
- default archive, not delete (for gmail account)
- smart notifications for important emails and not everything
- gathering of common subjects (quite like this from inbox)

I just can't trust a third-party email client; all the ones I've seen route your emails through their servers and keep your login credentials on their servers. I don't trust some random startup to keep that information safe. So I just use the Mail app; no frills but it does the job.

I am not sure what people need frills wise for their mail app. All I do is read, delete and rarely reply or author...

How the hell do you update Words With Friends 2 to not have ads? The setting straight up doesn't show up on my profile on my X. Any suggestions?

My wife surprised me by ordering a new X. Does anyone have the Nomad Rugged Case and if so do you like it and any pictures you can post of your phone in it?

Speaking of Google, Hangouts got updated today with iOS 11 support. But no X support. It's almost like they have a vested interest in not making the X look good.

Got mines from Best Buy last night. Loving it so far. Man it's such a beauty. The notch is basically none existent to me.

I installed Spark on my iPad, mainly for the snooze function, but eventually reverted to Mail too. Wasn't a fan of the smart inbox, and the lack of real integration with the OS, i.e., not being able to set apps as default ones, always comes back to bite me.

Technically they put out the iOS 11 compatibility update 2 weeks ago, and today was just more bug fixes, but yeah, Hangouts has no excuse like Google Maps kinda does.
Just up the resolution. There's nothing special about Hangouts.

Finally got mine, but I'll wait to set it up when my case from Redbubble arrives in like a week. I have no problem rocking my jailbroken iPhone 6S in the meantime.

For those who haven't got a qi charger yet, a nice Samsung wireless charger is currently on sale half off at Amazon, $69.99 > $33.61 (52% off): http://amzn.to/2zbHGuo

It has great reviews and is Wirecutter's runner up for best Qi wireless charger(seemingly only runner-up cause of the high price, which is not an issue with this sale). They claim that it charges the iPhone 8 faster than anything else in their testing. Just bought myself one.

Is there any way to require Face ID (or any authentication) to open an app? I don't want people playing with my phone and peering into my camera roll that may have embarrassing things.

Man, you really need to be able to control audio apps from the control center widget. Things like ovrcast already have a semblance of a widget. Would be so nice if I could go to that little square and choose between SoundCloud/podcast/Apple Music etc.

It feels so wrong to open that thing back up and not be able to choose a different source.

If it's like the first one, you can't. In the other one you needed to spam friends so that ads would hide for a little bit.

Holy hell. That's awful. I'd gladly pay $5 to get rid of the ads - but online, folks were saying what once was a $1 upgrade is now $30. WHAT?! In any case, these ads are AWFUL. Worst I've ever seen. There's a FF Gacha game ad that plays after EVERY MOVE and it requires me to "participate" in the game (drag this building, watch RTS mechanics, repair). Thing takes a full minute of my attention before I can close it. Are millions of people really dealing with this?!

Well it's only been a few days and my fears about the white silicone case are already materializing. Wore black pants to work today and now I have a ton of lint stuck to mine. It doesn't wipe off very easily either as it kind of just sticks to the case and ends up looking rather unsavory. I do prefer the look and feel of silicone when it's prestine, but I think I'm going to end up going back to the leather.

So there's a bug on iTunes 12.7 that when you manually add music to your phone it doesn't group albums together, but lists each song individually. Super frustrating when I want to add my ALAC albums.

Tried Spark.

Eh, I'm an old man.
Back to standard Mail

It's pretty and I quite like the look, but it doesn't seem anything special. And it's spamming the hell out of my notifications (no grouping - argh Apple!) even though I have it set to not notify for automated/newsletter emails. That alone is making it likely I'll uninstall

Edit: ok it keeps pinging my Apple Watch while I'm trying to sleep in the train to work. Getting deleted if it can't handle notifications properly. It collects the emails in the inbox in the 'newsletter' group but still spams me.

Isn't the 8+ and X also worse in comparison to the 7+? I feel like it's an issue with the A11. It would be interesting to see if 7 vs 8 would show the same issues. Don't think it's an issue with iOS 11 per se.
Seems like it's too aggressive.

Wait what? The X and the 8+ Are slower than the 7+? It cant be..!

Did this this year too and went from leather to silicone for two weeks when I first got my X. Now I'm caseless. I don't know what to do. Never been naked. Maybe after the second incident I'll get a case since I'm on iUP.

I really cant understand how this is possible really...
From what I can tell, RAM management on the newer iPhones seems to be more aggressive with removing apps from memory. Not sure how much this affects day to day usage. The new iPhones do seem to load apps faster in general. I hope they can improve it through software updates though. It's kinda ridiculous. Lol

I switch between leather and my white silicone every 3-4 days or depending on occasion and I'm not seeing those white silicone issues. Even when using black jeans, the lint just wipes off.

Yeah, you'd never know the iPhone X has the amount of RAM it does. It's clear the OS isn't really using it. I hope Apple improves performance of this phone. It feels underutilized.

Maybe I'm crazy but I really don't notice the difference in sound between my RHA-750is and my BeatsX. My ears are probably just fucked but that's good enough for me.

Trying to apply a tempered glass screen protector, and failing pretty bad. No matter how much I clean the screen or make sure I apply it firmly, I'm always left with bubbles under the glass. I might just pop in store tomorrow and have one of the gurus do it for me.

is there a setting that controls how fast the phone goes to sleep when you are not staring at it? I know its a power save feature, but I'd like it to be a bit longer than the default thats on there now...

Did you get a screen protector with a guide like this?

Makes applying it pain free.
Also have heard applying it in a bathroom with steam will help with any dust issues.

The Awareness feature overrides the Auto Lock setting. It seems to be fixed at about 10 seconds before it starts dimming. I agree that it's too short and should really respect the Auto Lock setting.

Oh, maybe because I the "Awareness" feature turned off it works as I'd expect. I set it to 1min and it doesn't dim, sleep, or autolock until that time (well, it does dim just before it locks).

Yeah, mine came with a guide similar to that. I wiped it down with the provided alcohol wipe, cleaned it with the fibre cloth, used the included sticker to lift any remaining dust bits, then used the guide to apply the glass. I was still left with bubbles. I managed to restrict it to one bubble in the bottom left, and it's not noticeable while using the phone, so it will do for now.
