We need more helmets like those. Disappointed there isn't an Anubis helmet we can wear similar to:

The Lizard's helm

That's the shit I was talking about when I asked if there was going to be any cool masks we can wear, but it's pretty damn scarce in that area. If there was one thing Unity did right from what I watched, it's that cool level of customization.

I believe that defeating all 4 Trials of the Gods will award an Anubis-themed outfit.

If you don't have Amazon Prime you can get the one month free trial and it comes with twitch prime free as well. Allows you to unlock this outfit which I agree looks fantastic in-game.

That's good to know thanks.

I was tempted but then amazon prime trial can be used to save a lot of money, so using it up for this could make it a very expensive outfit. Will keep it in mind if a HDTV deals comes up on prime.

so i think the game glitched on me and not spawing the location to that place under the sphinx after i left it the first time because i lacked the 50 silica. Now ive got it and the place wont pop back up. ive reset the game several times even unplugged the system for a bit, nada.

edit: fixed it. Had to leave the animus and go back in. thats so dumb.

The only Assassin's Creed game I ever felt was really hurt by microtransactions was Unity, where the amount of money you earned from missions/idling was nowhere near enough to afford most of the top gear.

Syndicate gave you more money than you could ever need, and Origins throws enough quality loot your way that unless you're dying to get a particular sword or outfit, there's no need to bother buying them.

Those heist missions, specifically the easiest one, gave out way more money than you could ever need. You could get up to 70K in three minutes. And that's per run.

Damn, I still can't get it because Prime is under my husband's account and mine is a "shared" account.
Ah that sucks. :/

Yeah got it also. Thanks

Those end upgrades with Carbon Crystal are crazy tho...
Have the feeling its a push towards microtransactions to complete those.

I'm two upgrades away from having everything fully upgraded and am only level 33 and just finished Giza. There are more than enough if you look for them, plus the daily quest camel kid sells some for gold, too.

Do you get a massive performance hit when you pull your torch out in the dark? Seems to have become worse over the last few days (not sure if it is an Nvidia driver issues or something as I updated them since last playing).
Actually yes, the game runs a lot better at night too, less light sources I guess?

Yes to all this. In Origins you are constantly able to upgrade things, too - there's no crazy in-game resource costs.

Unity had a few instances where gear available only with real money was notably better than what you had in the game. In Origins you have multiple avenues to carry the best available.

Playing on Xbox One X, haven't played an Assassins Creed game since the original.... it's becoming my game of the year. I've put about 50 hours in and done 82 side quests.... not much of the main story. I haven't had this much fun in a long time, and it's such the looker.

So it sounds like this game is worth the $40 on PSN.

I'd say absolutely. Having a total blast with it. Best Assassin's Creed game yet, and a huge breath of fresh air to the series if you haven't played the previous ones.

Full disclosure: I paid $88 for the version with the season pass and steelbook, and after ~90 hours with the game I'm very happy with it and am eagerly looking forward to the DLC. So $40 seems like a great deal based on how much fun I had with it as a fan of the series and also this style of open world game.

Just a heads up that I've seen that it will be $30-35 for the physical version at various retailers in the next few days, if you'd like to try to save a few extra dollars and don't have a big preference between digital and physical.

I loved the Ezio trilogy, but haven't been really into the series since. Seems like this is a bit of a return to form, though.

Think I'll just grab it on PSN for $40. Don't have to go back to work until Monday so would like to start playing tonight, haha.

I absolutely hate the combat in this game, for all the flaws of the old system I at least found it tolerable by comparison. I'm wishing there were more opportunities for stealth and...assassinations. This clunky For Honor/Dark Souls style combat is the opposite of what I wanted from the series. Maybe as I progress through the story Bayek will be involved in more stealth assassinations and less clumsy group combat?

I haven't had a hard time with stealth approaches once I had the hidden blade. And I've been able to upgrade it on the regular through normal play - haven't hunted for resources or farmed anything. Just play and break down your unused weaponry and every once in a while you'll see that there's an upgrade available.

My problem is with the heavy hitters in melee. They cheat. They'll aim their attacks in one direction only to get magically spun and pulled towards you to let loose with their attacks. The game also has them force dodge after getting a combo on them. Their shield bashes seem to have twice the reach of the player, and sometimes my dodge move just ignores my inputs. Throw in scenarios where you've got three or four bowmen whittling you down, even when your shield is raised and its a formula for frustration. They still have some real work to do to give fights rhythm and to keep enemies operating on the same set of rules as the player.

And determining risk by enemy level seems to be iffy too. I was level 30 an took on this base. I was still able to take down level 31 enemies without too many problems, except for this one guy. He wasn't a Phylake (didn't have the red helmet action anyway) but he did have some mean armor. That particular level 31 enemy shrugged off my attacks and just splattered me in a few hits. Wasn't even a close battle. If I'm to work with a level scheme at least keep it consistent.

I've had no real issues in fights with regular soldiers though, except for the occasional warp-to-me-for-the-smackdown that I mentioned above.

Yeah ACU had the best customization of any AC, all the outfits could be mixed together and it always looked great. They need to go back to that instead of single outfits you can't mix.

Finally went through the entire map and finished al the question marks. Only things left to do are about 15 of those hidden treasure hunts, 30 side missions, and finding 5 more silica so I can unlock the final real question mark on the map. Clocked in at 45 hours so far. I think in under 10 hours I can finish all that off and then spend a day just cruising around and then I am putting this away for a while. I feel like any game I play after this is going to look like ass. lol

I have like 70,000 coins what should I be doing with them? I am already happy with my weapons loadout.

quick question here, im level 28 and currently finding it VERY difficult to level up due to lack of actual missions that are based around my skill level. i have 5 or 6 missions that are all around level 35.... seems odd for the game to stop the flow of level appropriate story missions but whatever. so do i just grind away on boring old side quests for the next week?

Ive played 1, Black Flag, Freedom Cry and Rogue (and the chronicles games but those are clearly way different lmao)

The chronicles games were horrible. Complete waste of $30. Anyway, since you played BF, FC and Rogue, maybe Syndicate because it eliminates all the crap from Unity, has a better story and characters, good music, sound and voice acting. Pure single player with a lot of good side content. Visually, worse than Unity but better in every other way in my opinion. Aside from that, I probably wouldn't even bother unless you can somehow get the game for free.

I can sorta agree with this...I've been spoiled by Origins but Origins also made me wanna go back and replay some Assassins so I bought 3 and Syndicate on PC and man I've started 3 and the climbing feels so wonkey and slow wheres in Origins you can just climb in any direction.

The only two AC games that I would be able to play after Origins would be BF and Rogue. I can get into them but all the rest, nope. And that's only because I played them both already to 100% completion and thus, I know everything.

It's just not easy to go backwards because in every aspect, very rare will you come across a game that isn't better now than what it was back then.

What in god's name are they thinking starting the game with this boring-ass treasure hunt?

I feel like the game do put less emphasize on stealth than previous titles. Try using Predator/Hunting bow to thin out enemies from afar.

For combat, try using charge heavy attack and shield charge, they really helps against brute or shielded enemies. Light Bow are useful in killing light infantry and Warrior Bow are useful against big dude.

At least it's not like Unity where you spam smoke bomb and medicine when engaging with 4+ enemies...

I found the stealth to be a bit challenging in the beginning, and by the end of the game I was able to stealth the entirety of the game's largest fortress, which was a lot of fun. I think they could have overall played up the stealth mechanics a little bit more, but I did like how you seemed to really progress at it throughout the game. One glaring omission is the inability to move unconscious, but not dead enemies. Was never able to figure out why you weren't able to do that. I did really like how NPC routines and time of day played into the stealth mechanics though. Going into a fortress at night and taking out enemies in their sleep felt extra assassin-y.

And determining risk by enemy level seems to be iffy too. I was level 30 an took on this base. I was still able to take down level 31 enemies without too many problems, except for this one guy. Some of the larger fortresses have buffed up captains and commanders that aren't quite phylake-level, but are much tougher than regular enemies. They're almost like mini-bosses in a sense. If you were encountering those, their difficulty wasn't solely tied to the level system. Even at level 40 the tougher ones are still hard to take down (but can still be assassinated if you're within a few levels). I remember one of the captains in a larger fortress taking about 3 direct hits from a ballista and still coming at me.

Very good to know.

Guess I learned the hard way. They are some mean looking fuckers at least, so should help to identify them next time.

I wonder if the Son of Ra sidequest played a bigger role during the development of the game. It's the only sidequest I've done where there was a cutscene between Bayek and the target.

I'm watching the Wonder Woman movie again, and this era of the series could add some moves from that movie - the side-saddle backflip horse dismount, the 180 reverse jump warrior bow shot, the shield move, the backside tower toss-off.

Some of them are good too.

Some are super quick, some are repetitive (My assistant has been captured!) and some are multi-part and more complicated.

Some subverts your expectation lol. Yesterday I did one sidequest that starts out as fetch quest, just when I think it's over and think it's one of the dud sidequest, it turns into investigation, then it turns into riddle solving for hidden location, and it also feeds into another sidequest.

I always prefer to do all the Side quests I can see before doing any main quests in that kind of game but holy shit it got out of hand... There's way too many side quests... Every time I finish one 2 more pops up lol
