Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Stranger in Sword City is definitely borderline for me, it's going to be long and i'd like to think i'd be able to get through serious dungeon crawler like that, but historically I haven't :D
Have noted down Demon Gaze II, i'm guessing it'll be a relatively short print compared to the original so it makes sense to pick it up now. A few of the others I was aware of but was thinking i'd grab them on PS4. Keen for more suggestions if anyone has any!

Looking for some recommendations! There's been so many Japanese releases come stateside and I haven't been able to keep up with what each one is.
Primarily looking for physical games as i'll be visiting the states next month and want to pickup what I can while i'm there.

Games I already have:
Persona, Danganronpa, Zero Escape, Y's Memories, Shiren.

Games I enjoy:
SMT (Playing IV Final atm)
Etrian Odyssey
Visual Novels (only played a few tho)

Games I don't care for:
Pervy games
Really long games
Games that take time to get good
Games that are overly complex

My wantlist at the moment is pretty short. I've been thinking about buying Demon Gaze & Stranger in Sword City interests me, but i'm holding out for a physical version of Revisited.
Thanks in advance!

It's a bit half enjoy half don't care for according to your list, but I'd suggest Steins;Gate. Depending on the other visual novels you've tried, you might like it quite a lot, though admittedly it does take a while to kick in. It's a very solid visual novel though, and perhaps one of the system's best VNs. As has been already mentioned too you could try for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, and alternatively Ys Origins (which is an LRG title). Not played either of those but since they're in the same franchise you might enjoy them as well.

Thanks. Played through Steins;Gate at the start of the year on PS4, absolutely loved it, though getting all the endings even with the fast forward features was still a multi-hour slog. Got to play the new version at TGS this year, was pretty awesome upgrade. Got Steins;Gate 0 lined up for sometime soon tho I haven't heard good things :/

Ah okay. Glad you loved it :D.

As for 0, it's good, but not *as* good. It's still a worthwhile read if you enjoyed the first, with its own advantages, and it's also fun to return to the cast of characters, but it IMO it wasn't quite as good as the original. Close, but just a bit shy.

Is the best way to get psone classics on my vita through the memory card trick? There are some awesome shoot em ups that arent coming to the uk store ever

For whatever doesn't appear in the store, or in some cases does but you can't directly download it, I used my PS3 to transfer over software. What is this memory card trick you speak of?

Just finally catching up on this thread. Am I misunderstanding, or is VA-11 HALL-A not coming to EU?

Anyone here watch BlueMaxima's Gaming Channel? His videos are pretty much got me interested in Vita.
He used to post frequently in the Vita threads on GAF until he was banned long ago. He kept fighting the good fight for Vita just a tad too much hehe.
I still subscribe to him. His dedication to the weekly updates is to be commended.

Wow, I had no idea Under Night was coming to vita, was this already known?

I almost don't believe it.

Did Under Night get a good Vita port? And was it digital only? If its good, I'm sold on the Vita port to go with the rest of my Vita fighters.

It released in Japan on Vita earlier this year, so... ;)

Somehow I keep winding up at your website (without actually planning to) and there are a whole bunch of really in-depth and well written articles there. It's really really helpful: thanks for taking the time to write them up - all the more so since you don't wind up doing the usual "10 things you X" articles that wind up being packed with filler and a clickbait-y title.

Any chance Limited Run Games picking up Caligula in the future? They did Ray Gigant before so here's hoping!

I was just looking into that game myself. Wouldn't say no, since its either that or getting the Japanese version if I want a physical release. Then again, with game performance not looking so hot on the Vita I almost wonder if its worth waiting for the PS4 version coming next year.

Using a second memory card to (for example) open a jpn psn account, as youre locked to one per memory card

Yeah, I think Caligula was one of the games that was written off as "no chance" by LRG, along with stuff like Fatal Frame.

Then yeah, I don't see why a secondary memory card with an alternative region account can't be used to get games not coming to the UK store. Do you have any concerns with this method?

Posts like this always make me really happy and make it worthwhile writing them (although I have dabbled in the odd "top 10" articles, I try not to do them so often :P).

Thanks man. Appreciate the nice words.

Mhm, so Aksys can publish physical Vita carts in 2018 but not NISA anymore?

Edit: Also only two Vita games for the black Friday sale in NA-PSN. :(

UNIB:EXE is going to get a physical right? But like NISA won't make a physical for Penny Punching Princess, except for Switch. They love Switch now. I can't blame them but it hurts lol.

No, UNIBEL is digital only everywhere in the world on Vita (Japan; EU; US).

Like I say, Aksys might release next year's otome physical, but I don't think that is confirmed yet.

So I made my mind that Ys 8 will be my final vita game, so let's finish it with a bang. Got almost 70 games for it, a pretty nice run indeed.

I hope that the Switch could be as good as the vita was.

Oh looks like I missed something. Whoops. I guess from here on out the majority of Physical Vita games will be LE's and LRG exclusives. That's kinda sad but not unexpected I suppose.

I love what Aksys is doing, but their consistent lack of communication is grating. Their VNs could use more QA.

Yeah, I touched on that in my article and agree with you (the QA). That said, if slightly rushed translations means we'll continue to get all these great otome titles in the west, then that's a hit I'm (personally) willing to take.

Not getting Digimon or Mana next year? I wonder what the last (new) Vita game I'll buy will be.

Day one for Romancing SaGa 2. If sales are good, I hope they do 3 and SaGa Scarlet Grace. Between this and that new Mana game localization, 2018 looking better already.

I can see 3 happening, but Scarlet Grace is only happening with a PS4 and/or Switch port, in which case they may just skip Vita altogether.

I hope not. This and Secret of Mana give me hope. I've almost imported Scarlet Grace on a couple of occasions and used a Japanese wiki guide.

As long as they're getting physical in some form somewhere in the world, I don't even mind (though RPG's I'll buy digital in English). Stuff like Metal Max bothers me because I'm convinced NISA will pick it up and they've already said no more physical (I know this is an invitation for an Anihawk response for which I'm sorry guys!)

That video for Xenon Valkyrie a few pages back got me excited, it looks really fun.

I was curious, where's the best place to get Vita wallpapers? I haven't changed mine in ages.

I'm really hopeful that this PSX will be the Vita's last hurrah, from what we've been hearing from Sekai Project and a few other publishers.

I'm still of the belief that the recent ratings leaks (Assault Android Cactus; Deabolt; Paper, Please), might be part of a final indie push from Gio & team.

But honestly, I thought 2016 would be Vita's last hurrah at PSX and they sort-of delivered (Garou/Lara Croft Go/Windjammers/Ys), so I can't be too pissed if they show nothing this year.

Just received my copy of Gundam Generation Genesis and I didn't realize it was a 2-pack. That's pretty neat.

It is, but (and I'll have to be careful how I word this since I caused a minor kerfuffle when I said it wrong last time).

One is an install-card. You put it in and it installs 3.4GB of data to your memory card. The other is the actual game card. So you still need plenty of memory card space for it.

I was slightly disappointed it wasn't a case of "insert the second cart!" after a certain point like in the good old days.

Ah, I see. Well, I'll take this over a day 1 patch, I guess.

If 2018 does end up being the last year for Vita, I'd say it had a pretty good run all things considered. I don't think they're interested at all but I'd love for Sony to try a Vita 2 or something similar.

Really late to the reply but if i can i suggest:

Lost dimension
deception 4 nightmare princess
Trails of cold steel 1&2(they are long but engaging)
Soul sacrifice delta(god eater and freedom wars too if you want)
Maybe the first Sword art online game?
At the moment i don't remember other games lol

I haven't played them but you could like summon night 6, ys 8, tokyo xanadu, caligula effect

If you don't mind psp games i REALLY suggest ZHP.
