It's Margaret's maiden name. She either changed back to it in the second Frostverse timeline, or her husband doesn't exist anymore. Anything is possible when the creators don't give a damn about continuity.

I disagree about the retcon of the retcon being well thought-out. It was detailed, for sure, but it clashes just as much with the show's continuity.
The Annie part of that whole mess is even worse, with her senior year boyfriend turning out to be her stepfather, and her choosing to keep his surname even though she almost ended her life because of him.

Coincidentally I've just read that section in TSH. It's pretty clear (although not explicitly stated) that Coulson is Margaret's maiden name - both names are mentioned by TP without comment on their relationship. Pretty sure there was reference in s1 to her losing a husband, which is where the name change comes in.

Thanks all. Yeah, I was pretty sure there was a strong possibility TSH made a reference to that, but considering some of the other inconsistencies in TSH/TFD, I thought it could have also been another case of Frost dropping the ball.

The Annie part of the retcon of the retcon is definitely spotty. My point was more that Frost put so much detail into the retcon of his previously botched Norma retcon (which was probably one of the most picked at mistakes in TSH) that it almost seemed like an admission that he made a mistake in the first place (rather than his stated "all will be revealed in time" explanation). I was surprised there wasn't a section on Ed Hurley that discussed how he created an elaborate false backstory of what happened between him and Nadine to confuse Cooper and everyone else in the sheriff's department besides Hawk.

Another question about an issue that I might be one of the only people invested in (which will probably need spoiler tags). Did TFD imply that:
Steven did not actually kill Becky?

Awesome, thanks! I hadn't got around to reading the Mark Frost AMA yet.

Given the context of Season 3 only, I was pretty sure the opposite was true.

I agree with your theory, I just question the value of such an admission when it only makes a bigger mess of things.

How is the audio version? I was a bit disappointed with Secret History's.
It's fine. It's just Annie Wersching narrating the whole thing because the book is almost entirely written from TP's perspective.

I picked up The Secret History and The Final Dossier today. I've got a few days off next week so I'm probably going to spend some time digging into those.

Finished reading The Final Dossier and glad to have a few unanswered confirmations in there.

The whole Norma situation is a mess though, from the previous book through to this one. Given that it so far has had no actual impact in on-screen events, I'm just going to personally ignore it and stick with what we've seen on the show.

Yep. Her snarky jackass voice is on point.
Frost's writing voice... not so much. What the hell was up with Albert using "trigger warning," and in 1989?
That was so dumb.

Yeah didn't really enjoy The Final Dossier. This coming from someone who adored The Secret History with its world-building and the depth it added to the lore.

Alright I'm watching The Missing Pieces for the first time. Seems like there's some interesting stuff in here.

Also, I started reading The Secret History today and immediately it got me wanting to read up on some history of occultism and stuff in America.

Quick question for you guys:

I finished watching the second season for the first time. Can I jump straight to season 3 or do I have to watch the movie first? (I was planning on doing that after season 3)

Gosh, watching Fire Walk With Me for the first time after watching the new show would be such a diminished experience.
I hope I can still watch the movie without being too distracted by all the new twists and thematic alterations they've introduced this year. I wonder if I'll ever be able to look at Bob without thinking about balls.

Oooh, that reminds me. I need to ask for the blu ray of season 3 for christmas. Streaming it, with all it's artifacts blown up on a projector wasn't great.

I really wish a repress of the season 1 and 2 blu-rays would happen. I know both seasons are on like every streaming service, but I'd really like to be able to have the whole thing on my shelf. My Criterion Fire Walk With Me blu-ray is lonely.

The Final Dossier wasn't very good. D:

Still looking forward to the forthcoming blu-ray, though. :D

David Lynch on Another 'Twin Peaks' Return: "I've Learned Never Say Never"

What would be the impetus that would require you and Mark Frost to come back to this world? What would it take?

I don't know. It's too early to say that right now.

But it's definitely not something that you rule out?

I've learned never say never.

Just finished Final Dossier. It wasn't anywhere near as engaging as Secret History was. It seemed to serve as more an info dump than anything. More commentary from Albert would have improved it tbh.

Ready for the blu-ray now. I'm ready to bring home Mr Jackpots for the holidays.

In Canada I've noticed that it is cheaper to get the S3 Blu Ray at Best Buy. $60 rather than $70. For some reason on Amazon it says it is an import.

Just finished the final episode.

Watched all of Twin Peaks this year and am honestly still processing all of it. Not just the final season, but the original series, the movie etc.

I unfortunately had the identity of the killer spoiled, by an unrelated podcast at that. So I didn't get to enjoy that revelation.

I loved it all the same.

Heads up, Season 3 Blu Ray is $47.99. Just went to order and it's dropped from like $60 for the first time

Amazon says it's one dollar more than the DVD set?? Lol

Rewatching Fire Walk With Me. The way they integrated S3 with the movie is so good.

Edit: never caught the monkey saying Judy at the end of the movie before.

They've integrated parts of the movie into the new show, but it really doesn't work both ways. The way in which they've repurposed imagery and character names from the movie doesn't line up with their original incarnations, especially turning Judy from Seattle into that whole Jowday mess (which is a bit of an issue since that somehow became the most important "plot point").
It sort of works on its own, like some remix project meant to craft a new narrative out of random bits of footage. Not so much as a part of the good ol' Twin Peaks continuity.
