So this month's magazine has just landed so it's the time of the month where we all argue over scores with no context given.

There's a bit preview of RDR2. My phone camera is busted so I can't snapshot the cover, but someone has posted one version of it in the RDR2 preview thread. I received a different cover with the male gunslinger (not sure if subscriber cover).

Surprisingly, no AC: Odyssey review this month

For a bit of fun, and for those who don't have the magazine, I've left out two scores and filled in a paragraph of text. See if you can guess the score from the final paragraph.

Reviews

Destiny 2: Forsaken - ?
9

"Forsaken's biggest achievement is that it doesn't matter that we're weeks away from being raid-ready....
Bungie has successfully remedied two of the most frequent criticisms of Destiny: that there isn't enough to do and that it's endgame is overly focused on raiding. We're cautious: History has told us that Bungie is only ever one new release from messing everything up again, but it finally feels like the developer is listening and more crucially, learning.
Cayde-6 may be gone but the game he leaves behind is in better shape than ever"

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider - ?
4

"By then, any sense of coherence has long left the building. Disjointed and directionless, Croft's descent into darkness is, shockingly, one hell of a mess"

Forza Horizon 4 - 9

Frozen Synapse 2- 7

Wandersong - 7

Valkyria Chronicles 4 - 8

Two Point Hospital - 8

Transference - 7

Life Is Strange2: Episode 1 - 7

The Gardens Between - 7

Man you've got to give people the scores (in spoiler form at least) for those who want to know.

I've got the magazine in front of me - the RDR2 feature is fantastic. Was a good read this month.

No clue in what world is Shadow of the Tomb Raider a 4. It's by quite a distance the best exploration game of its kind.

Ok, pet peeve, but in the thread title at least. Can we use our words? Red dead redemption 2. It is not that long.

I edited in spoiler scores. A mod can feel free to amend the abbreviated title if it offends.

Oh wow, that Tomb Raider score. I enjoyed the previous two games so this makes me sad. As for Destiny, I should look into buying the expansions I guess.

It really sucks for Shadow of the Tomb Raider to have failed to meet expectations. I really liked 2013, ROTTR was mostly OK to me, but nothing I've seen so far from the new one makes me want to play it.

Spoiler-tagging review scores

Fucking hell, this website

Really? It's 2 scores and it was just a bit of fun to see if people could guess the score from the closing text.
The reason it was done is because people always moan about context-less kneejerk reactions to just printing scores.
Chill out.

Wow, a 4 for Shadow of the Tomb Raider does seem surprising given that the previous two games in the series both got an 8 from Edge. They must have really disliked this one. Is there anything else from the review that sticks out?

Dat Shadow of The Tomb raider score! It will took long time until Square decide what to do with Lara. Clearly the formula doesn't work anymore.

"There's little here we haven't encountered before, save for the odd shoal of Piranha"

"Puzzles are simple and often disappointingly short, save for some in optional tombs away from the critical path"

"A subtle change in how Croft feels to control...Traversal is never quite as snappy as it needs to be...You'll be happily clambering up a cliff when Croft will inexplicably fail to latch on to a handhold"

"Stealth sections are prescriptive...you'll often encounter a guard who never moves, forcing you to take either one very specific route or go loud."

"Dreadful early encounter with a Jaguar..."

"Accepting what the series has become is also to acknowledge that it has lost some of it's original identity" This is in reference to the combat emphasis.

"Game is for the most part, put together with a degree of competency. Same can't be said for the story. Even by pulp standards, the plot is preposterous"
