JUST USE THE SHOTGUN!! FUCK!

lol.

I was suprised to see how tame that area with the cells is on the level below nightmare, for them there was one enemy with the face shield that popped out of the side door and suprised Pat. On Nightmare it's two hysterics plus a couple of normal enemies. Honestly really makes me feel the enemy placement on Nightmare is the intended experience since there wasn't even any need to use the mechanic where you drop the lights on them. I've noticed almost every encounter on Nightmare has a couple of extra enemies and they're usually placed well too, often patrolling in a way to stop you from sneaking up on the enemies with their backs turned too easily

Im actually kinda meh on Pats intro tbh. Maybe its cause its a stream intro, but there felt like no direction? Just random stuff. Paiges felt a lot more focused.

Voltibase is still a god tho

The animation is great, but yeah, it's really just a bunch of Pat memes.

My biggest surprise in the Evil Within 2 LP is how good Pat is as the Predator skill. In the OT for TEW2 in the previous community so many were dismissing it that I never ended up getting it, but Pat has actually be using it really effectively.

Predator skill isn't a bad one, IMO, it can just be a bit finicky aiming the red arrow sometimes.

I unlocked it right away before reading up on anything about the game online and spent a lot of time messing around with it, I really like it as a way to close in on enemies super quickly while they are in a group. Makes it easier for me to reposition afterwards and not alert others in their walking cycles.

I'm honestly shocked at how much they are loving the game. It feels like they've only really been lumping praise onto it.
I'm happy they're liking it, but honestly I was kind of thinking they might. TEW2 was a very different fame to the original, and some people who really liked TEW1 really don't like TEW2, and some people who really did not like TEW1 really don't like TEW2. There's some sadness here as I know a few people who were really excited for TEW2 as they loved the first game be disappointed in what the sequel is, but the flip side is I've seen a lot of people who didn't like the first game or even hated it giving the sequel a chance and being surprised how much they like it. Then there's people who like both but one or another more or less for personal reasons, or people like me where I honestly think TEW2 is a rare sequel where I think it's about just as good as the original game and like it as much from my current gauging, but for very different reasons.

Seeing how I felt and the response, and having watched SBF on and off over the years and especially for horror games, I had a sneaking suspicion what TEW2 does would be far more up Pat's alley than the original game at least, I will admit Matt was more of a wildcard for me. I also think part of it is you can tell in the first few parts both of them went into this somewhat cynically, but have been surprised by it multiple times. Sometimes the most praise-worthy type of good is the sort where you're expecting to be disappointed but it slowly wins you over more and more. No expectations or even negative expectations, but with the stuff they personally really disliked about the original game being mostly absent and a lot of stuff up their alley within the game itself, the good stuff really begins to shine which leads to them complimenting it a lot as they were hard on the first game and are surprised by the sequel to the point they want to talk and vocalize how much this is catching them off-guard in finding legitimate enjoyment and even various small things they appreciate in it.

Honestly TEW's "problem" was a multitude of really small problems, where it was just not good enough at much of anything it was doing, especially when the blueprint for almost everything it was doing had already been clearly and expertly laid out by RE4.

They really just needed to make everything a little better to get it to where the direct comparison isn't terrible and therefore the things the game is doing that are actually original/different can shine.

The constant technical issues also soured their playthrough in a major way.

The game crashed on me 4 times during my first playthrough as well :/

The TEW1 playthrough it seemed like Pat was digging it and getting into it, especially after learning mechanics like the matches, but Matt was down on it from the jump based on his own playthrough. Once that crash started happening where they had to switch to the console version it was all downhill from there though. The technical issues + frustration based on the shitty black bars just ruined Pat's early good impressions.

I really wish they'd have taken some extra time with that first game and released it without the black bars and performance/tech issues. The game behind it all is great.

Do the fire guys actually take less damage while on fire? My assumption was that it just prevents you from melee/stealth attacking them effectively and maybe causes them to do more damage.

I don't think they take less damage, but I think they deal more damage when in flame-on mode.

Having to stop myself from watching the TEW 2 playthrough since I just bought the game. saw the bullshit with the electric wires.

But instead have been watching past steams from everybody. VR streams are now redeemed as long as people put big googly eyes on them.

The game really drops an absurd amount of herbs, especially considering that you can get a full heal every 20 minutes in the safehouses and syiringes are very common too.
Yeah, it feels like they give you so many so you can field craft them easily during boss fights or sommit.

Maybe it's better balanced on the Nightmare difficulty.

I'm not sure healing items even really have a ton to do with the balance of the game, since it seems like most encounters can be characterized as "Everything is fine and life is good" or "oh god they're killing me I have no time for healing bullshit they must die".

Like, it effectively works like a game where you have full regenerating health outside of boss fights, and the ritual of healing items is just there to twig your survival horror instincts. They're just there to make you think you have to try and minimize damage taken from encounters so you don't try to play the game as Shootbangs McKillman.

Heh, I just noticed something.

I'm replaying TEW2 on the hardest difficulty now, and at the beginning of the game while your wandering around the Stefano apartments, there's a gate where you can see the door to his boss fight.

If you look very carefully and zoom in (using L2), you can just barely make out the name "Sebastian Castellanos" on the pedestal in front of the door (like you see right before the boss fight).

I am very glad that Pat hasn't been able to efficiently weaponize「CRAZY TALK」

TEW2 LP is good and all, but I can't wait for Billy to stop being sick. It's been nothing but TEW2 for days now, and I can't blame them because it must suck filming and editing stuff, but I miss the variety.

I don't know, it's kind of a fun holidays throwback to have the channel as the 2BF doing a legit 2BF style playthrough of a 2BF type of game.

It's a decent time for Woolie and Billy to be recovering.
